Event: Brace the Storm

"Attention Voidtreckers. Brace yourselves for a voidstorm. Remember to stay strong and stick together. The Voidtrecker Express apologises for any distress this might cause."

It's not all that much of a warning, but it definitely explains the bouts of turbulence. The colours of the void outside the windows whirl and deepen, the train rocking unsteadily. A song usually confined in the spaces between carriages wails within their walls. Emergency lights switch on as the main sets flicker, and anything that could be a danger is shut down, locking the lab and armoury and limiting access to the medical bays to those who truly need to be there.

This may be for the best, as when the voidtreckers move through the train, they will find things to be... peculiar. The stream of choral singing has stuck around, bringing about a general feeling of unease in passengers. Stranger than this is when they move between carriages, and don't always find themselves where they were expecting. They know that the quiet coach should lead to standard, but instead, they end up in the music car, or library.

And within the carriages themselves, all is not as it seems...

The storm rages for three days, colours lashing at the windows, a ghostly song wailing through the walls. The train itself is able to steady after an hour or two, even if the bizarre effects throughout the carriages continue.

Be it as small as colour changing in the music room, emotions getting high over a board game, or even their minds being swept away into stories of other worlds, it will be all the passengers can do to follow the scant wisdom of the train. Stay strong. Stick together.

All storms eventually pass.

1. (Greenhouse Car; Only one or two responders, close CR preferred)
Given just how crazy things have become recently, Ryo has been trying to keep his head down when he's not needed to help. For him, that comes in the form of working in the greenhouse car, making sure everything that needs water gets it and harvesting what needs to be taken from his herb patch before it goes to seed. He's trying to ignore the feeling of being watched - the train is safe, and he knows that, but this storm has made everything so weird, and he can't quite shake the conversation he'd had with Yondu after the fake mission and the worry that something may have followed them aboard-

He shakes his head and leans back a bit, sitting back on his knees and closing his eyes. He needs a break. He needs to clear his mind. It'll be fine if he can just calm down. He sighs and opens his eyes again, looking to the windows-

And he freezes-

And then he scrambles to his feet and bolts to the windows, staring desperately out into the void and pounding on the window with a wordless cry as the faces outside stare back, wordless screams mirroring his. There's a face out there that looks just like his, expression twisted in agony - there's his brother, and his uncle, and his friends, and people who'd left the train, and-

And he needs to be pulled away from the windows before he hurts himself. He doesn't have the strength to turn his back on the people he loves while they're in pain, even if some part of him knows it may not be real.

2. You Can't Trade Powers Like Pokemon Cards (Training Gym)
Ryo doesn't usually find himself in the training gym, and he hadn't meant to be here at all today - he'd been trying to get to the kitchen, the doors had been misbehaving again, and here he is. He tries to walk through, but he can feel something wrong as he goes - his Sense is sparking oddly, in and out, and he picks up the pace to try to get away from it. He catches someone's eye as he goes-

And stops dead as something goes sideways.

Well. That's going to be fun to deal with.

[Anyone who power swaps with Ryo is likely going to get his Sense as well as his magic.]

3. Stuck In the Middle (Luggage Car)
His arrival in the luggage car is a mistake - another instance of doors not leading where they should - and Ryo sighs and heads across it, intent on getting out.

It's only when he's gotten halfway across the car that things get odd - more odd than they already had been, at least. The door starts looking further and further away the longer he walks, getting bigger and bigger but no closer as the car...expands? He finally stops and looks around, only to see suitcases the size of houses around him. Either the car has gotten bigger, or he's gotten much, much smaller.

He takes a breath - don't panic, it's just another weird thing, he just needs to leave - and turns around, heading back the way he'd came. The suitcases shrink around him, and the far door starts looking far more reasonable as he reaches the middle of the car again. It's when he starts getting closer that the door starts getting smaller, the car closing in uncomfortably around him, and he finally cracks his head against the ceiling of the car. He stumbles backwards, knocking over piles of suitcases that are smaller than they should be, and it finally sinks in. It's not the car - whatever's going on is changing him.

So you'll find him looking relatively normal, if a little anxious, in the dead center of the car. "Be careful - it's...really weird in here." Because how is he supposed to explain this?

4. Spanesty (Spa Car)
He makes it to the spa car on purpose, for once, and it's a welcome sight. He sighs in relief and sinks into the spa, welcoming a soak in the warm water. Anyone who walks through is greeted with a bright smile and an invitation. "Join me - it's nice."

It's honest! It's also not as honest as it gets, though Ryo doesn't know that yet.

Jingyi glances over, lifting his eyebrows before he smiles, breathing out in a snort.

"You realise I spa in the nude, right? Is that going to be a problem?"

The provided swimtrunks do not accommodate his particular brand of tail, whereas at least his uniform trousers do. How much anyone cared was a sliding target, so he asks expecting Ryo probably doesn't mind, as this is the spa, and he's in the medical profession, but also, towels are useful to be subtle in slipping into water in the nude.

He notices things sound even more odd beyond the song leaking through the spaces between carriages to simply haunt each carriage itself. It's the discordant nature of hearing someone speaking in passing, but not understanding one single word they say.

He frowns, looking around, but the other person's already stepping through to another carriage, and he's left perplexed, blinking, before he shrugs it off and heads through the dining room to the kitchen, intent on easy breakfast (rice, okay, let him have his rice and leftovers he may scrounge up) and tea.

The oddity niggles in the back of his mind, but it isn't until someone's more than popping in and out, someone he recognises, that it'll sink in. Which is why he lifts a hand to wave to Inigo from where he is, standing by the rice cooker as it sings the song of its cooking, calling out a hello.

A hello in a language that Inigo doesn't speak, with the only recogniseable part being Inigo's name.

"Hey, Inigo! The train's real weird today... first nightmares or whatever, then the song being everywhere. You hungry? I've got rice and whatever this is." He gestures to the rice cooker, then the small plate stacked high with food before him, taken from the free to take leftovers sections of the fridges.

Announcement:

Curufin is in the kitchen chopping vegetables when he hears the train's announcement. He looks up and says to whomever is near him, "What? We're in for a storm, I guess."

He runs to the exit and heads for the Dining Car so he can look out the windows. And what he sees is alarming. The Void colors swirl and turn more vivid than usual, and the carriage begins to rock as it is hit by the turbulence. Curufin is knocked off his feet and hits the floor with a THUMP!


Trying to get to other carriages:

Curufin heads out of the Dining Carriage and expects to find himself in the corridor outside the lower level of the Quiet Coaches. But suddenly he's in the Stone Garden, and he looks around in confusion. This isn't where he should be! The Dining Coach and the Stone Garden are NOT connected, so how did he get here? The lights are flickering. And then he hears a wailing song chorus such as he's only ever heard before in the junctions between carraiges. It sings in his ears and is strangely beautiful, if extremely eerie. He pulls his flute out of his satchel and starts to play along with it, thinking that whatever or whoever is doing the singing might hear him and consider this a communication exchange.


Wildcard:

Meet Curufin anywhere on the train and get into an argument with him. Both of you will be puzzled as to how this even happened, when this is not the norm for you. It may take a bit of thinking to realize this is a result of the Voidstorm.

Inigo wasn't in the kitchen, so he had no idea about the other trying to run off like that. But he is in the dining carriage when he witnesses the other dropping to the floor like that. And he gets why it's happening, since the train is shaking like crazy, but it still feels like Inigo's blood pressure is getting way too high way too quick due to a combination of the alarm the train is giving them and the worry that maybe Curufin hit the ground a little too hard.

Trying to carefully get up from where he was sitting, Inigo attempts to make his way over to where the other is on the floor without falling over as well.

"Are you okay..?!"

Quick, Curufin, get an answer in before the translator shuts down in the carriage.

1. Language Issues (Dining Car)

[The void storm is initially alarming, given what happened the last time one happened, but Masumi soon gets over that initial alarm once it becomes clear that this one is different. Deciding to take care of getting food first so she can deal with whatever this storm might bring, she heads to the dining car to find some breakfast.

Thankfully, the dining car seems normal once she finds it, and it doesn’t take long to get something to eat and sit down. Unfortunately, when Masumi tries to talk to whoever else might be in the car, things aren’t normal here, as what comes out of her mouth is completely untranslated Japanese.]

2. Share a Secret (Spa Car)

[At some point in the day Masumi goes to relax in the spa car, which seems like a good idea on paper. Just maybe not for someone with info she’d rather keep secret, as it’s turning out.

I really hope my mom’s doing okay back home without me to help out…

3. No talk me i’m angy (Quiet Car)

[After the whole spa car incident, Masumi ends up heading to the quiet car to fume over having spilled her secrets. It’s got a void storm effect she can put up with, and, well.

Masumi doesn’t want to talk right now anyway.]

Spa Car?

[By the time she runs into Masumi, she's at least comfortable in the one-piece she's wearing, floating on her back like an unusual duck. Granted, the swimsuit reveals secrets of its own - toned, well-muscled limbs, and a number of scars there and on her back.]

[But when Masumi speaks, words appear on the SCA on her wrist and she lifts it to read them. Then rights herself, to pay proper attention. She gets her feet beneath her, so she can free her arms to sign in response.]

Kitchens

It was early morning and she had found her way to get a snack. The train had started shaking, never a good sign, and the announcement... She had been in a void storm before. It had not been good. Not at all.

A jerk to the side almost makes her lose her balance and she curses. Getting back to her feet she takes a moment to breathe... And realises that she doesn't understand what the others in the kitchen are saying.

"What do be going on?" This has happened before, their ability to understand one another being taken away. No one had spoken her language back then and as far as she knew no one spoke it even now, no one was from her world.

Games Carriage

She had gotten here by accident but here was not a bad place to be. Better than the stupid kitchens or the even worse carriage full of shadows. This storm was bad and she hated it. She hated everything.

Even though this carriage was less stupid her mood had not improved. In fact it had gotten worse. She had a deck of cards and was shuffling them angrily.

"Do you be knowing any gambling games?" She asked anyone close, with a glare.

Luggage

When did the train grow? Or has she shrunk? Either way the suitcases now tower above her, the door seems like a thousand miles away.

It's like the train has turned her into a mouse. She doesn't panic though, even if she wants to. She takes a deep breath. Try to get to the door? Or try and hide?

Door is probably better. Most of the weird things have only affected one carriage and so if she can get out she will be normal size again...

It's just getting all the way there. She sighed.

Cinema

She's exhausted, this storm was exhausting and so when she finds herself in the cinema she just flops down on a chair, to curl up, not even noticing what is on the screen at first.

She hadn't slept very well, weird dreams waking her up. So she isn't all so surprised when she starts to drift off. She is surprised when she wakes up somewhere else entirely...

Perhaps most, but there's at least one person whom the loss of the train's universal translator doesn't pose problems for.

"Are you alright, child?"

Whether the train allowed for a recognition of a language spoken or simply made it so everyone heard it in their own language aside, right now what comes from Elidibus in the form of language is probably one the child has never heard before. But the fact remains she will comprehend it. Such is a birthright of the Ascian's kind, even back when they were mortal. And it seems he understands her in return.

"It seems the train can no longer translate for us in this area. The dining room and storage cars have also been affected."

He doesn't try to help the child. She seemed to be in decent shape and also the sort who would reject being coddled. Why Elidibus is here remains unclear. There aren't any fixings out for snacks or beverage. Near him and he doesn't seem to be preparing to reach for anything. Instead his position out of the way of foot traffic and against a stable wall to prevent untimely toppling from the train's turbulence seems to be one of patient observation.

Now in Technicolor - Music Carriage

He's been told about storms before, a while back, but he didn't remember most of it and even if he did, it wouldn't matter much now. It'd be sensible that no two storms would be exactly alike what with the Void being a damn jumbled mess up already.

So he just does his usual rounds to the music storage but doesn't notice the effects right off. It takes a few hours of him in the luggage carriage listening to music, searching for things Peter might like, before he reaches for his speakers and notices his hand is not blue. It is pink. It is very monstrously Barbie pink.

He shouts in surprise as he's suddenly Krylorian colored, so taken aback that he flaps his hand like it might slough the color off just as a shaken reflex. But it's only then that he notices several items in the room has changed.

After a bit of staring he calls out a loud, "This happenin' for you or do I need to get to the medical car?" to whoever is in there with him.

Can't Shake Bad Feelings - Greenhouse

It's a usual check in the greenhouse car and try to work on his powers and he gets that uneasy feeling that he's being watched. Just a creep up his spine, and it has him glancing around, pulling back his coat from his holster, readying to whistle his arrow out if he has to.

He deserves this terrible moment after his awful joke to Katsuya during their last 'mission'. He had told him he'd be a turd and make the setting funnier by writing a random 'Don't Look Up' on a whiteboard to scare the crap out of someone that came behind them. Well, he looks up. The situation wouldn't be funnier if he didn't see Tullk up there among that pained expressions. Oblo. So many people he'd seen die and scream for his help. So many faces of people he'd lost in some way or another.

"What the hell?" he mutters, expression anguished in a way highlighted in every crease, heart-clenching up in his chest because this shit haunts him enough. He promised them he'd join the one day. They just have to wait, they just have to be patient, they needed to let him have a moment where he didn't prepare for inevitability.

Please, just cut him a goddamn break!

Larry Bobbins - Cinema Carriage

Nothing too wierd can happen in the Cinema, right? This is fine. He'll do fine. He'll just find a nice little movie and kick back and-

Great. Cool. He sure loves this.

By the time someone finds him he's already in the second act, still blue and with his fin but dressed much like an Edwardian butler carrying a red umbrella with a gold handle very reminiscent of his arrow slung over his shoulder. He's snooping around a very wealthy-looking house being tailed by two proper kids, a stereotypical English boy and girl, following him around in aggressively wealthy children's clothes and he's just looking annoyed.

"I said y'all can just do what ya want. I dunno. What the shit do you even want from me?"

"But Mr. Bobbins! You're supposed to help us tidy up our room!"

"Okay, fine! We'll go clean your room." And when he turns to walk down the corridor, the scene abruptly changes and he finds himself grabbing a doorframe in surprise. He nearly falls down, stumbling in from there, children giggling behind him. "You're such a silly man."

"Silly man, my ass. I'm confused." He drops the umbrella to the ground, and as if he's directing his arrow he starts to whistle and lift items, letting them drift around the room to the areas he sort of suspects they go. The plot tells him that it'll work? So he'll go with that.

Stranger things are to come as the sterotypical English boy ducks into his room carrying some toys to put away and... Romeo exits it looking confused. He's in very fancy clothing and he's never seen a place like this before. A bedroom? But also like a toy store!

"Oh... Um..."

Blood Spilled - Dining Carriage

It was an inevitability Murphy hadn't wanted to face. He'd been being careful- kind of careful, anyway. You know, as careful as a guy that mostly gives a fuck about crossing the wrong people can be careful. He's in the dining car, having lingered around to read. Living in his own little world. Not knowing the difficulty that's about to befall him because this is- okay, not the worst time for something like this but it's very inconvenient.

It's the distraction with the book in his hand suddenly looking like gibberish that makes him drop the glass and said glass slips and breaks on the edge of the table. He doesn't notice that the shattering has already happened when he reaches in a futile effort to prevent disaster and not make it worse. When he feels the sting of glass in his fingers he realizes how wrong things have gone at this stage.

He tosses the now unintelligible book off to the side as he scrambles for a napkin, a paper towel, anything, panic obvious in his wild-eyed expression.

"Shit, shit! I need a bandage and some alcohol! Fucking bleach or something. I can't walk through the train like this!" It's at least eerily slow as it leaks out from between his fingers as he tries to hold the cut shut until he gets some help, dripping in lingering too-thick drops.

Oddly Homey - Standard Coach

He's more than a little shaken after the previous encounter in the Dining Carriage, a lot of his pompous exterior having faded to something less aggressive. He's just distracted, tired, and when he enters the Standard Coach he finds himself wavering.

The din of noise is... almost welcome. It's white noise, a crowd of voices, something that he remembers fro the psychic din of the undead.

Murphy passes through the Coach, walking slowly and staring at the conversing shadows. Are these people all that remains of what was before? Souls adrift in the void? The zombie stares at them as he passes through.

It's not the same, but it's close enough that he finds he misses the empty companionship, the traces of lingering presences. He doesn't even notice anyone else when they're walking by, nearly stepping into them.

She doesn't usually come to the dining carriage, but apparently the train has other ideas today. And of course she comes in in the middle of what she judges as a very minor crisis, but apparently the red man (she remembers that one) is far more concerned than she is. The bell on her collar rings softly as she approaches and then she's a girl again, trying to figure out what all the commotion is about.

When she finally speaks, she doesn't even realize anything is wrong. This is just how she talks, after all.

"うるさいよ。"

Kitchen - Language
Yugi had planned on doing his chores when the storm started, a little worried about what could possibly happen. Plus everyone could always do with some good food anyway.

So without knowing just what could happen Yugi set about getting out some ingredients and only looking up whenever someone would come in. What he didn't realise was the fact they might not be currently speaking the same language.

"Hey there. The storm seems a bit worrying doesn't it?" he said though to whoever were to come in would hear him speaking in Japanese.

Game Carriage
Things seemed okay in this carriage as Yugi sat down to play one of the games, leaning back for a brief moment. But as time when on Yugi found himself feeling a emotion that for the most part he was not one for showing and that was genuine frustration or anger.

"How come on...That was in."

Spa of Feelings
Yugi was going through the carriages as a way to see if there was at least a safe place to go to and so far with no one around this seemed to be the best place. At least it was a decent place to relax as well. So he went to find a spot to sit down and give a small sigh of relief for the time being.

Game Carriage

And for Idia it was much the same, but instead of anger or annoyance, it was joy and triumph. It's not totally foreign to him, especially after a good game, but not normally to this level with someone face to face; a wide grin across his face as he chuckled at Yugi's frustration over their current game predicament. "You forgot the modifier for that square and don't have enough energy points to complete the objective." Come on Yugi, it wasn't that tough.

Rapunzel | OTA

Quiet Time
Rapunzel figured that while the storm was going on that she would do a few things, maybe as a way to pass the time so one of the areas she went to was the Quiet Carriage. With Pascal sitting on her shoulder she went to sigh with relief. But she soon found herself getting a little bit confused. There was always a little noise that came out when she sighed but yet... nothing.

She turned her head to look at her little friend to speak but instead only found her lips moving and no sound coming out of them. So Pascal shrugged not understanding what she was trying to say which caused the young woman to paused again, clearly starting to look a tiny bit frustrated.

So she did the next best thing she could think of was putting Pascal down, and thinking over what she could try next. Instead when people come in they might see Rapunzel flailing her arms about for whatever reason.

Standard
Rapunzel looked at the shadows curiously for a moment as Pascal himself seemed a bit weary to say the least, but Rapunzel herself seemed to be talking to them. Sitting down legs crossed.

"You know some of the best apples would be the ripest. I don't know what you mean about bigger is better or that colour is key. I'm not sure how that determines the taste."

Spa of Feelings
Rapunzel decided to sit at the edge of the poll as she usually would and dip her feet in. Pascal himself was actually sitting beside her and just taking in the atmosphere.

When she heard a noise she turned her head slightly a smile placed firmly on her face as she waved happily.

"Hello, you planning on relaxing to?"

Spa of Feels

She'd been convinced it was time to finally try to unwind - especially in amongst all the weirdness that was, amazingly, finding ways to pull at her. Weary her. The irony of course is that the Spa provokes sharing, but her mere arrival tells a story she usually doesn't. She'd found herself a blue one-piece to swim in, a garment she adjusts repeatedly, clearly not used to things either so close to the skin or so abbreviated.

But it shows her legs, arms, and back - a tapestry of toned muscles...and various scars. Hers was not a profession that left one unscathed. Most of the story of her life were written in those scars. She is awkwardly getting into the pool when she notices Rapunzel. Dipping in first as far as one knee, then the other - as if expecting something in the water to bite first.

Her SCA stays on, though. It seemed waterproof enough and, for just this particular reason, she was sure she needed it. So far, she only saw Rapunzel. Pascal would be a moment, that much was for sure.

Trying to, the SCA translates as she signs. She takes a moment, huffs and then submerges completely, popping back up a few moments later.

Kitty Pryde | Purple | OTA

A. Music Carriage

[ Kitty is already settled in the music carriage when the announcement about the voidstorm is made, and she can't help feeling a little worried. It had been pretty bad the last time there had been a storm, and she'd ended up in the medical car for a few days.

But there isn't anything they can do about it for now, and she could only hope it would pass soon. So she stays in her seat during most of the turbulence, and only gets up when she picks up the sound of singing that isn't any music being played in the carriage at all.

She makes her way to the monitors to look for some music, preferably to drown out or at least distract from the haunted singing that's making her feel uneasy, but she catches her reflection before she activates the monitors. And while at first she's startled to see that her hair is suddenly purple, she pauses a moment to look at herself a little further. ]

...actually, it's not that bad. Maybe I should dye my hair someday.

B. Training Gym

[ With the storm going on, it seemed better to just avoid the gym in the meantime. Unfortunately, she soon realizes that it's not really up to her, since passing through one carriage leads to any random one, and she finds herself in the gym anyway, despite her best efforts.

The feeling of apprehension is even worse here, but Kitty isn't entirely sure why...at least, at first. She isn't sure what even compelled her to check, but suddenly gives a frustrated shout. ]

No, no...! Not again...!

C. Library

[ Kitty is tired by the time she finds herself in the Library, and despite her best judgment she decides to stay there, grabbing a random book off the shelf and settling in one of the beanbag chairs to read.

She doesn't remember falling asleep, but when she wakes up she realizes with a start that she doesn't seem to be on the train anymore. And she's sure that she's never been...wherever she is either. And yet it seems...familiar somehow. ]

...Hello? Is anyone there?

[She hadn't meant to fall asleep either, but she wakes, very suddenly - and then realizes very quickly that in some ways, she hasn't at all.]

[She can't hear Kitty, of course, but she immediately notices she's not anywhere she recognizes - and she's wearing...well, very strange clothing indeed. At least the SCA is still on her arm, to provide translation - small mercies. Even in the dream some details apparently get remembered correctly.]

Luggage Car - A Large World

“Whoops! Sorry!”

Ruby stumbled a bit as she found herself in an odd situation, suddenly many times her normal size and stumbling around in the Luggage Car. She honestly isn’t upset she’s a now-naked giantess; she’s more upset at the mess she’s made.

“I’ll pick these up, I promise!” Ruby said.

Spa Carriage - Not-so-Private Thoughts

After that time as a giantess, Ruby made her way to the spa carriage with the intention of relaxing. Suited up in a swimsuit, Ruby made her way to the pool and dived in.

After awhile, she found herself floating in the water. She felt so relaxed, so good of herself, she began speaking.

“I wonder if I can just stay here. Y’know, not go back home?”

Quiet Car

After awhile, Ruby’s decided the best thing to do is to head for the Quiet Car. She’s brought out her Free Hugs sign and hung it up again as she heads for a seat.

It seems oddly quiet, though. Like everything is on mute…

Tannis rolls her eyes as she enters the quiet car an sees a "Free Hugs" sign because really, who even wants to touch another person when the option is obviously there to absolutely not, but she does appreciate the silence at least. Not having to hear the stupid chatter is rather nice--

--until she goes to say something about the sign and no sound comes out. So instead she just glares. Hopefully that will get the point across.

Jake's journey through the void storm begins with floating like an astronaut. At least it's not so bad, weird drifts of music aside. Eventually he'll have to figure out how to swim to the door, but for now he's content to float for a little while. Should someone float by, he'll wave at them.

"Hey, so this one isn't so bad, right?" He could do this for a few hours without getting bored, probably.

Oh boy, rock garden. Not usually his scene. He feels a creeping sense of paranoia for reasons he can't explain.

He's trying to get back to his room, but...hoo boy. He finds himself in the strangely lit garden car, and the feeling intensifies. For some bizarre reason, that compels him to look up---

---and he full-body flinches, not prepared for the sight of familiar faces, twisted and screaming. He lifts his arms to cover his head.

"Aah---what the hell? It's like that rainbow tunnel from Willy Wonka! Where's the decapitated chicken?"

Despite the attempt at a joke, his smile is strained. Hoo boy. Better get out of here, if he can get his legs to work.

Huh. Jake's never been in this car before. It reminds him of his last trip to the bathhouse with a reporter that ended in drama, and the weirdness of the shower in prison...yeah, not a lot of great memories associated with group bathing.

But it's calm here, so maybe it's not so...bad? He'll ease into the water in bright orange trunks, folding his legs under him to not take up so much space. Well...he's short, and not really a supermodel despite what Charles says. He's not quite in a chatty mood right away, but might make room for someone with a quiet "hey".

Sometimes being together isn't so bad.

Whatever's happening here, Orange still needs to cook. He's realized the translator is broken fairly quickly, well-versed in enough Earth languages to recognize different sounds and their origins, and that's an opportunity. He drags the translator device Yondu brought him into the dining car.

"This is a language translator. We need to speak around it so it learns other languages."

He'll say this in Japanese, then English, but should your character speak neither, he'll attempt to communicate this through charades. He gestures at his throat, points at the device, then mouths a few words...gestures at the machine, then at his ear.

...this may be more difficult than he anticipated.

"Take this deal! You won't find better...or maybe...you'll end up with a worse fate if you refuse."

The board game Seto's laid out is a property trading game. Players travel around the outside of a square board, with spaces representing housing on different streets, railroads, and public works projects. The goal is to buy up as much property as possible, build it up to charge maximum rent, and drive your competitors to bankruptcy.

Or he'll holler at the dice. "Jail! This game is unrealistic, millionaires don't go to jail!"

There's a dangerous gleam to his eye, growing sharper as the game progresses. Challenge him...or evict him?

After a lengthy time out as a result of the overly-heated game, Seto finds himself in this familiar car. Nothing weird seems to be happening here, so he retreats to the changing room, grabs his trunks, and settles in the hottest pool. Gotta purge that nonsense from his head.

"...I hate these storms."

Someone sounds grumpy.

1. SWIMMING IN AIR (sports gym)

"Whoa-whoa... whoooa!"

The effects happen the moment he walks into the sports carriage, the hallway lifting him off his feet - literally - and bringing him to a float. Stunned amazement keeps him from acting immediately, but then he tries gripping at the wall, without anything to grip on. The door handles are a little way away, and he's still slowly floating higher...!

( a ) If there's another in the gym hall, he'll spot them, throwing them a baffled look.

"Okay, how're we supposed to move anywhere?"

( b ) But such an uplifting experience won't stop Tidus from checking out the main hall of the sports gym. If others happen to be curious about hanging out in this antigravity environment, they'll be sure to find Tidus now more happily enjoying floating up to the ceiling; kicking himself off the walls, testing a few balls to see how they move under these conditions.

He also brings out his small water spirit pal, who in turns brings out more blue pals. All around is squeaking, as well as water floating and being battered around the place.

( c ) Also, he is absolutely going to take a chance that, when someone comes through a door, to be standing upside and call:

"Hey! How's it hanging?"

Get it. Get it!!! Look at that dumb smug face!!

2. BEING THE BLUES ( musical carriage )

Thankfully, the music carriages aren't affected by gravity, which would make practising a lot more difficult. Even if things are... off, or because they are, Tidus wants to keep practising with a guitar. If it's meeting with Rich who's been helping him out, or he just happens to be alone, he'll be in there with one of the train instruments, but with a book of folk songs to freshen things up.

He's not anything special with the instrument, the tunes slow as he gets used to moving his fingers. But there's something of a tune going.

...also, he's green. Or blue, turning all shades of the rainbow thanks to his presence in the car.

Which, when he's taking a break from the music, he does have a holographic-image device out to take some pictures of his different colouring, or to see himself better, his reflection in the 'screen' of the pad.

Catch him checking himself out, or if you're in the room suffering the effects, he may even offer, "Whoa-hoah, that shade isn't bad on you. Wanna see?"

3. TALKING TO SHADOWS ( standard coach )

Of course he's going to get dragged into conversations with no one. He sees how odd it is, creepy even when he first ends up in the car, whether on purpose or thanks to those untrustworthy doors. But for a minutes after, he's taken in by some topic or another - maybe even joining in one your character was already a part of.

And the subject could be anything. From ideal vacations: "Well it's gotta have a beach! Or just anywhere near water. Boats, sports, good sights - who needs anything else? I couldn't be stuck in space. If it's anything like being in the void..." Tidus waves his hand in gesture to the space. No thanks.

Movies watched recently? "Y'know, I watched this film recently, 'bout these guys going around, grabbing like, spirits out of stuff? But then there were these spirits taking spirits out of everyone else that were bad? I... really didn't get it. It was something like... Spirits Beyond? Anyone seen it?"

And, to be that guy about spoilers: "And at the end, everyone died 'cept the woman and the old man! Why would you do that in a movie?"

There were a few places that Tidus could be but the gym was definitely one of the first places Taiki would look for him.

He's surprised when he first walked through the doors into the corridor, to feel himself rising from the floor. As if he were flying except in human form not kirin.

And it's not flying. He's not moving, just floating. It's with quite a bit of difficulty he makes his way to the doors into the gym itself and he is glad to see Tidus there.

He smiles to see him and Gibbers. "Tidus! Gibburs!"

They look like they are having fun at least.

Q'uila was heading to the lab after grabbing a snack in the kitchen when the turbulence hits, sending Q'uila stumbling and causing her glass of water to slosh down her front.

"Fuck!" Q'uila steadies herself and groans as she takes in her soaked hoodie and is stopped by the locked door of the lab.

She jiggles the handle. Then jiggles it again and pushes against the door.

"Nald's bloody balls! You have to be joking, half of my stuff is in there!"

Secrets in the Spa

If having half of her belongings locked into the lab wasn't enough, the ringing void singing that was now pervading the entire train was playing havoc with her sensitive ears and setting her on edge and her fur standing on end. Seeking out some peace and a place to relax, Q'uila heads to the spa which certainly manages to work its magic on the miqo'te.

"Hello!" Q'uila chirps as she's joined in the spa, the miqo'te relaxed bonelessly in a chair, "Come to join me?"

Unrestful Night (Locked to Roomates)

The warm, clear skies of Limsa were even more blazing and beautiful than she remembered as she relaxes back into some of the Aftcastle's rigging. She could happily stay here all night just gazing at the stars. And then, in a blink, the rope snaps and she falls. It has been decades since Q'uila had last feared falling, but the rush doesn't come as she grabs for her aether. Instead, everything shatters in a way she had only ever felt when her being was being rent apart by Light, and the screams build and build and-

With a scream and a crash, Q'uila falls from her bed, her pupils blown wide as she thrashes against the sheets that wrap around and tangle her legs, as she sucks in deep breaths on the floor of the cabin.

Training Gym - Take 1

The train has been going through such strange things since hitting that ridiculous storm. Such as spitting her out a different cars. She's passed through the training gym at least three times now. And with the lab locked down, she has no other better things to do.

With a sigh, she fetched her brooch and transformed again. Maybe just tearing apart the gym would help things. Instead, as she transformed, she blinked as she realized her transformation stopped with the magic ribbons wrapped around her body.

"Wha...? N-Not again! Please, don't do this to me!" Usagi pleaded. If Kyoko were here, she wouldn't mind the failure, but she was starting to feel self-conscious again. They didn't need to see her at her weakest...

Training Gym - Take 2

Sometime later, Usagi would find herself back in the Training Gym. "Kitchen. Kitchen! I just want something to eat!" she snapped. "I'm sick of this! Leave me alone!"

She would transform again and, tapping into her other magic, unleash a torrent of flame. One that she didn't expect at all as it blasted a hole on the outer wall, revealing the protective layer behind it.

"What in the...?!"

Usagi growled as she threw her controller down and pouted. That racing game cheated on her. She was at the finish line when another racer passed her up. She was certain it wasn't there before and the game went and did that just to troll her.

"Cheating game. All of them are cheating..." she said, simmering.

Stories, Kitchens and Dining

In these cars, well, she has some advantage - she has long since mastered gesture and body language to convey thoughts without words. But she's also on a space train, upon which there are thoughts that cannot be expressed the same way. Thus, the first thing she grabs onto is a pad of paper, because her SCA glitches ferociously in these cars.

And only when she bops it into functionality does she realize, of course, it's writing everything in Katolian, which nobody else can understand.

So it's back to games of charades and 'guess the drawing', really.

Stone Garden and Greenhouse

This carriage...does not go well for her. She sees so many enemies, dancing as if in a fog. Viren, in all his cruelty, appears and disappears. Her sword is in her hand, ready to fight, but how does one fight ghosts?

Worse still is the glimpses she gets...of her sister, her family, twisted in dark amusement. That much she knows can't be real - but that doesn't mean it isn't being caused by somebody.

Occasionally, she slashes at something that looks more real than the next, seeking to end this - and prevent the torment of others.

She can also be found in the Training Gym where all sorts of odd shenanigans might occur, and in the Dressing Room car - where every time she silently sneezes, she either shrinks or rams back up to giant size. Usually back and forth.

Kitchen and I am sorry

Oh for the love of science, how did she end up here, she just wants to find somewhere quiet where she won't be bothered and yes, that is a tall order at the best of times, but why?

And of course there's someone in here because there's always someone in here and she just never gets what she wants. If she believed in some kind of god, she would definitely think she was being punished. As it is, she can at least admit that it's starting to feel like something is doing this to her on purpose. Because really, this is far too many coincidences in a row.

Sports Gym

She is sitting, cross-legged. Unfortunately, given the sporadic nature of the gravity, this means that she might well float by you upside down. Or be stuck on the ceiling. She's been trying to reach the door for some time, but the nature of the gravity has thus far prevented it.

Occasionally, she has to bat away gym equipment.

The Library - Then, Elsewhere

It would not have occurred to her that she could be compelled to sleep. But what happens, very rapidly, is the idea that she absolutely has to put herself into that mode, to restore power that is somehow already down to emergency levels. And thus, she dreams.

She dreams of the past. Perhaps it is because, for Guri, stories have thus far just been something she has heard, with no emotional resonance, no special cachet for her. She does not dream of mythical places or people, after all. Or perhaps it is just what happens when the storm interacts with her machine mind. Either way, the result is the same: there is only one story that has meaning to her, that she knows in vivid detail - her own.

Those drawn into it will notice, first and foremost, the city around them. Impossibly vast, buildings towering up for kilometers over vast and unending cityscape below. Hovering speeders and vehicles form endless lines of traffic at various levels as the orange glow of sunset plays out, over the vast jungle of concrete and steel. If one looks down, over an edge, all will just disappear into a glow, somewhere deep beyond. The city is just atop city, endless and seemingly impossible.

This is Coruscant. The place feels of power and politics; manipulation and desperation, the heights of creation and the desperation of abject poverty. For those who can feel beyond the normal senses, the place will alternate wonder and profound unease.

And in it, Guri stands. She wears a gold tunic, cut close to her body, with a blue skirt slit at both sides to reveal powerful, beautifully shaped legs whenever she moves. Those who know her well may find that, by itself, striking. These are colours she never wears now, garment types she avoids at all costs. Because the very thought of them reminds her of this.

Guri stands, hands clasped at the small of her back. And the body language is all wrong. It is too crisp, too mechanical. That is the first warning sign.

The second is when she turns, and the facial expression has none of the honest curiosity it usually wears. The expression is carefully neutral, but the eyes are cold. Cold as death.

These...are the bad old days. Because a droid has perfect recall; so when someone like Guri gets trapped in her memories - the picture is thorough and complete. Welcome to the palace of Prince Xizor, lord of Black Sun - the most powerful criminal organization in a galaxy spanning millions of planets. And before you, his chief enforcer. A flawless infiltrator, deadly combatant - and frequent killer.

Music Carriages

The dream experiences make the fairly light-hearted weirdness of the carriages...a lot easier to bear, really. A welcome distraction. Her hair is currently a very vibrant shade of pink.

Spa

What she thinks is an escape from the oddness is, instead, a bit of a trap. She swims laps in the pool, wet hair done up in a tight bun as she powers across the pool. She'd heard the spa made people more honest, but - what could that possibly to do her, who is already honest and, very importantly, a human replica droid?

Unfortunately for her, turns out that having real skin is more than enough to trigger the effects...

The train has been starting to feel more and more like Wonderland during the past few days - but not in a good way. The turbulence threatens to make Alice feel sick, and a lot of the effects in the carriages are just truly unpleasant to deal with for a long time, especially for someone as relatively sensitive to weird effects as Alice is.

So she mostly heads to the spa in the hope for some reprieve. Just a moment of quiet. Without weird shadows, or colours, or anything strange happening. Just a moment to calm down.

It means Alice is still fully clothed, yes, since she wasn't planning on actually fully going into the water. She only takes off her shoes so she can dip her feet in. But Alice is looking so tired right now.

.. not that she doesn't spot Guri though, even through the exhaustion.

"Did you also try to find some peace and quiet here?"

Greenhouse
Allen yawned slightly as he had started to make his way towards the dining carriage to get something to eat. So as he went he found himself in the Greenhouse, a place he normally doesn't find himself in. But as soon as he stepped in he found himself pausing for a moment. He didn't like the way he was feeling.

Uneasy? But why would he feel that way? It's just plants. So the young man turns his head slightly and his eyes glance out at the void and it was within that moment that he could see something. A face it seemed and it looked like it was in pain.

"What... if going on here?" Was all he could ask himself before looking around and simply seeing more of them. That was not good. Not good at all.

Training Gym
He wanted to try and ignore whatever was going on and so he found himself doing what he always did. Headed to the gym. When he reached his destination he waved at whoever might be there with him.

"I guess you might be doing the same thing as me then?"

Spa of Feelings
Feeling a bit defeated after everything that was going on the young man found himself in the Spa. So far everything seemed normal, but with what has happened so far he knew there must be something. But as of the moment he couldn't be sure as he started to slowly make his way through. Seeing anyone he simply waves to them.

"I'm just passing through."

Oh, for fuck's sake. Caleb is fairly annoyed as the nearest person seems to not know what he's saying. He switches from Common to Zemnian - close enough to German for understanding - and huffs in annoyance.

"I was only asking if you could pass the bread? Bread?" He points to the bread and mimes receiving it. He hates this already.


Garden

Those passing through this carriage may find Caleb on his knees, the massive twisted face of Trent Ikithon looming above him, laughing cruelly. Or maybe it's a man and a woman, both with red hair, screaming in pain. Either way Caleb is too in pain to move, too afraid to try to take another step.

He's terrified, and he can't seem to get himself out of there.


Training Gym

Caleb has a knife. He's grabbed it from the armory storage and is attempting to practice stabbing a dummy. There's not a lot of force behind it, but they've ended up places where magic doesn't work that well... he might as well try to relearn the vital spots to hit.

Alternatively he's throwing fire at a dummy, Fire Bolts carefully sent across the room when no one else is around. He puts the fire out once it catches.


Spa

And after all of this, it's a relief when he slips into the spa pool, submerging up to his chin. He doesn't have swim trunks on, because why would he?

... Still, after this day he's still a bit worried, scratching at the faint scars on his arms. Someone should probably distract him.

The spa is one of the safer cars to be in lately, and so that's where Ryo finds himself. He hadn't found the sauna to his liking, and has taken a seat in one of the chairs just outside it to cool down when he sees Caleb in the pool, scratching at his arms. His brow furrows just a bit. "Caleb? Are you okay?"

Early on during the storm, on the first day, people might not exactly know yet what sort of effect is going on in the dining carriage and the other ones near it. Inigo found out pretty quickly during breakfast though.

But that still makes the effect probably pretty jarring that when you sit down and start talking to him, either because you know Inigo or you just like having someone to talk with while eating your food, and Inigo's reactions all seem.. off. Sure, he's reacting to what you're saying, with small nods, or thumbs up, but they all seem to come at.. slightly weird intervals. Like he isn't reacting to you directly.

In fact, he might just stick up a thumbs up after you say something that definitely should not be responded to with a thumbs up. Not to mention that Inigo hasn't said a word out loud yet.

Are you going to call him out on it? Or maybe just continue talking to see what's up? It's your choice!

If you seem at all like you're about to pass on from the games carriage in the direction of the garden and the greenhouse carriages, you might find that passage isn't so easy right now. Inigo is standing in front of the door, basically blocking it with his body as he rapidly shakes his head at you.

There's something.. off about him too. He's looking weirdly panicked, for one. A feeling that is only getting amplified the longer he's staying in this carriage, making him look a bit too panicked for the situation.

"You-- You don't want to go in there right now. Okay? Trust me. Please."

No, he is clearly totally calm, w-what do you mean! I-It's all fine. It's all ok. Ssh.

Eventually Inigo tries to find a carriage where he can at least escape the worst of it. He thinks of dancing as a way to get rid of some of this voidstorm-induced stress, but that brings forth one big problem, huh.

Namely the fact that more people might be in the music carriage than otherwise, since its effect is.. well, rather harmless compared to some of the other carriages. And Inigo just knows he can't dance as long as there's people around.

So if you happen to be sitting in the music carriage as well, you might find Inigo leaning over to you, whispering: "Do you think it's going to be this busy here the entire time..?"

That's totally not a weird suspicious question.

So he's not surprised to see him looking completely panicked and trying to block him from the games carriage.

Fear not, citizen. Alice is here to help. Or rather - she's not exactly here to help, since she doesn't know you require help just yet. All she does is spot someone looking incredibly tiny, and that's when Alice forces herself to hiccup..

.. and a moment later she's standing next to you, right at your tiny length. Except her height chance wasn't quite as involuntary, though it might be hard to realise that.

Maybe the biggest clue is the fact she looks extremely calm as she asks: "What are you doing?"

You know, like turning tiny is just a hobby some people have. Something they do on a regular Sunday afternoon.

Or if you happen to find yourself in the library carriage, you.. may suddenly not find yourself there! In fact, you might find yourself not on the train at all anymore, but instead inside of a rather friendly-looking forest.

You see, Alice makes sure to treasure all things that are gifted to her. Including the Winnie the Pooh books Aziraphale gave her. And she sure was reading those in the library..

.. which might be the reason why you're standing next to her in 100 Acre Woods right about now.

".. Well, that is new," Alice says.

She hasn't even looked off to the side yet, so it seems like she hasn't even noticed you're here as well.

Or, on the last day of the voidstorm, you may instead find Alice sitting in the dining carriage. She's not alone though - or, well, perhaps she is, depending on your definition of the word. She's sitting there at the long table, but on top of the table are a plush rabbit and a plush cat, the former looking rather worn and the latter having some sort of odd chessboard-looking pattern on it.

And even with the haunting singing going on, Alice is just sitting there like nothing is going on. Instead she seems to be.. pouring tea into cups.. for the plushies..?

"Why yes," you may hear her say - or perhaps the words are completely foreign to you, if you don't speak English, "It has been a dreadful few days. But things seem much better now."

Why is she saying things are better even though the storm is still going on? Who is she talking to? Did you just hear a faint meow?

But before you can ask anything, Alice turns her head, spotting you there and giving you a half-frowning, half-questioning look. As if she thinks you are the weird one for suddenly being here.

Dressing!

Yurine is very annoyed. Which, depending on who you ask, might be her default state, but she can't even get where she's going right now, and suddenly she's in the dressing carriage. For no reason. And then, somehow, she is the world's tiniest white cat. She sits for a moment and gives a soft little agitated meow before she's suddenly looking at someone her own size. That is...better, possibly. So after the question, she's a girl again to try and answer.

"Why does it matter what I'm doing?"

This sure isn't Madoka's first voidstorm, with how long she's been on the train by now. But it happening all over again leaves her rather fussy all the same, especially when she realises that almost every single carriage is having a weird effect on people.

And rather than trying to find the most chill carriage to hang out with, Madoka instead does the typical thing Madoka does - run around wildly and try to be helpful.

So no matter where you are, even if you are just quietly sitting in a car and trying to mind your own business despite the storm, you might find the pink girl running up to you, almost sounding out of breath as she says: "A-Are you doing okay? Do you need help with anything?" (If you happen to be in the stores, the dining car or the kitchen - she is most definitely speaking Japanese.)

Let her help you! Or, you know, tell her to chill.

Or if Madoka doesn't find you, then you might find Madoka.

Because the girl is standing in the greenhouse - but not to look at the flowers or the plants. No, instead she has spotted what's beyond the glass. And that is exactly why one might find the girl standing in the carriage, directly in front of the glass, and just.. staring outside. She knows it's not a good idea to stare out there for long, but she can't help it. Even if they're just shadows, omnious shadowy reflections of people she's known, it's still.. the first time she's seen these people in a really long while.

It makes her heart ache enough to keep standing there, forgetting how long she's staring outside. Maybe this is a good time to stage an intervention interrupt her and get her away from there.

Eventually it does seem like Madoka has made the right choice. Perhaps forced to, perhaps not, but she does end up in the spa, sitting in the warm water and just.. trying to calm down a little from everything that has happened.

Except she hasn't quite realised yet that this carriage, too, has its very own unique effects. So if you happen to be there with her, you may suddenly hear the girl ask you: "Are you.. ever worried about your world..? About everything back home..?"

Kitchen: universal translator

Once it becomes obvious that certain areas break the translation feature of their SCAs, Thanatos offers himself to translate if needed in the kitchen. He doesn't need the technology to understand another language. He's a god.

"Did you need help?" he asks once he sees someone having trouble.

Library: Choose Your Own Adventure

Reading is one of the new hobbies Thanatos has been getting used to. He already enjoys the graphic novel, Afterlife Management, which he's now reading the second volume to. There are also a few other titles he might try.

However, he never intended to be in one of these stories. With his luck, he'll end up as the healer significant other trope character instead of a hero or major powerhouse.

Music: Pink is not a deathly color

Thanatos's attempts to learn the lyre from the book he ordered have been slow going. He plinks a string to create a single note, waits for it to fade to silence, then does the same note again. However, once the color of his body dramatically shifts, no notes echo off the music car's walls.

"Lady Aphrodite, if I find out this is your doing... " Thanatos grumbles. Death Incarnate is now BRIGHT PINK like a certain Goddess of Spring.

Spa: Splash Zone

Thanatos has just shifted into the spa, fully clothed, now soaked, and very disoriented. This is not where he intended to go, but this is where he ended up. Have fun.

There's an extremely naked Caleb sitting in the spa, half-dozing - until Thanatos splashes down. He jerks up almost defensively before calming down slightly.

"... I take it this isn't where you wanted to end up?"

Dining
He is alone so he doesn't notice anything strange as of yet. He is currently enjoying a small lunch as he sits in the dining car. He figures this room is about as safe from strange things happening as any can be. And since he hasn't noticed anything behaving oddly, he sees no reason to leave here for awhile. So he takes his time eating, only looking up when someone else enters the room.

"Trying to get away from the rest of the storm?" Because the events inside the train are as much of a storm as what is raging outside.

Sports Gym
Xue Yang isn't new to flying but being able to do so without any sort of help or weapon or thing to carry him is new. He is currently floating around the gym just testing the fact that he can't actually get his feet to touch the ground.

Greenhouse
He came to check on his plants that he has been growing when he noticed the screaming faces. He now stares up at them, his arms folded in front of his chest as he simply watches. He is used to seeing hordes of screaming people, usually because he made them that way. So this isn't disturbing to him at all.

"Am I supposed to be bothered by this?"

It's a bright and cheery voice that comes from the door, for all of two seconds, before a strangled cry escapes him. The sudden upwards motion gets Esteban to drop his poi, both of them suddenly flung and floating through the air as he lets a curse slip. He just wanted to train, was that too much to ask?

"Sorry!" he calls as one of the bags of sand floats off to another person, slow enough not to be a threat, fast enough that it might bump a bit.
