Healer/Medic Meeting [Open]

Who: Ryo and anyone who wants to join
Where: Music carriage, upper floor
When: Poi 16, Evening
What: A meeting for healers, medics, and anyone who'd like to become one.
Warnings: Possibly some discussion of medical things?

[About an hour after Kabuto's initial inquiry, the ICPs flicker back on, this time with Ryo.]

There will be a meeting for healers and medics tonight after dinner in the upper floor of the music carriage. It will help us all if we know what everyone else is capable of, and Tidus has agreed to go over the various healing items we have on board, since we should also know what they are and how they work. If you're a healer or a medic, please come; if you'd like to have medical training or learn how healing items work, please come; and if you donated a healing item, please either come to the meeting or give Tidus or me a detailed explanation of how it works if we don't already have one. I'll make another announcement when we're ready to start so no one misses it.

[There's a beat, and a bit of a lopsided smile.]

And...I'll try to have snacks.

[Because people like snacks, right?]

~~~
True to his word, Ryo gets back on the ICPs before the meeting starts with a reminder. There's a table set up on stage, with a number of healing items set up on it; there's another table at the door, with three sheets of paper, labeled Medic, Training, and Items, respectively. (There's another, smaller table, with snacks Ryo was able to find - namely cookies, bread, and greenhouse-grown fruit, along with water and coffee. There's an effort there, but it's obviously not the focus.) Ryo stands on the stage, visibly nervous and visibly trying not to be, and waits for people to arrive before starting.
"Thank you all for coming. The idea tonight is to get to know each other - who we are, how we heal, and what we're capable of - and hopefully figure out how to do even team coverage on missions, including covering the triage car if things go badly and we wind up fighting another corrupted life god." It's supposed to be a joke, and gods he hopes it lands. "There's a table in the back with papers on it. If you have medical training and are willing to teach others, please sign the Medic paper; if you want medical training, please sign the Training paper; and if you want to learn more about healing items, please sign the Items paper. Thank you."
That's about all he has, and he looks a bit uncertainly at everyone else in the room. "Would anyone like to start?"
[OOC: Make your own toplevels, mingle, and generally get to know each other! This is open to everyone, so non-healer/medic characters can also come if they want to learn, or just partake of the snacks.]
[At least Tidus seems happy at the use. But he chokes at fact that they are-] Limited supply... [Thinking on all the potions he wasted! He nods vigorously] I'll use every single one of them as efficiently as possible. No user will go unaided, this time.
['Computer-y to have?' 'Help us talk to computers'? He'll try his best from his end with good ole advice from an 80s computer program] Good quality I/O towers. Keeping up with device driver updates, can solve a lot of problems with that. Binary is always useful. [Yeah, there is also the more extreme end] A digitizing laser is perhaps the most direct form of communication with a system. Users can be inserted within the system itself and speak directly with the programs running it. That's how I met my user.[he gives his chin a scratch] I've never actually seen what it looks like from the outside, but it worked for my user and the other users that did use it when they came in. [He'll just breeze over the part where there was a massive program revolt that ended up trapping his own inside for 20 years... He technically had no part in that. Technically.]
In the end I suppose, a program's gonna want to talk to a user if communication is to happen. [His eyes narrow] Say, like the Train. [yeah, he's sure it's just being rude by this stage.] It's a two way street. Both ends need to be willing to talk.
[This may have got a little away from potions...]
[ Wow, that's a lot more than Tidus was expecting from that question. A user - he guesses the guy means people? ... err, meaty, outside people - going into a computer. Not entirely new after some of their missions, but that's a bit different in Tidus's mind than the way he's being spoken to about it now. ]
Huh. [ Huh. It's a small sound he makes, rather curious as the computer guy speaks. But oh, don't think he missed that shift in tone either, or that look. And can Tidus latch onto complaining about the train easy. ]
Lemme tell you, this is the easiest it's been trying to talk to the train. [ And by the humour in his voice, yes, Tidus knows it's still bothersome. ] At least you get what good a potion is. I tried arguing we needed more healing brought in to it, and told me that's why we get points, so we can do it ourselves. And now we have to pool in points into votes so it'll give everyone medkits when they show up.
[ Which might be a little confusing if the guy hasn't noticed the voting pool, but. ]
But it did recently get something to help it chat to people. [ So, maybe he'll be a little fair on the train. Only a little. ] It could kinda talk to us before, but I guess there's something missing? I don't think it knows what it's doing. Or really gets much beyond being transport, you know?
