Who: Spark and whoever encounters him
Where: All the public areas of the Train.
When: Before the mission
What: Trying to regain Spark.
Warnings: Bad puns, possible angst.



Spark has to come to terms with the fact that Adrien... just isn't showing up. He knew Leia kept telling him he needed to trust others, to not hide so much of himself anymore. But maybe it was time to go back to just being Spark. Maybe he had to just stop being Gar and Privateer Pirate all together. That meant he had to be socializing more as Spark. Well, wasn't like Gar had all that many friends left on the train anyway.

So Spark was wandering the Train cars, and napping in random in the way places to get people to talk to him, even if it is just to make him move. He needed to come to terms with just being Spark, and what was a more cat thing to do than just being constantly in the way....?

Big dramatic sniff.

"Why am I a person and not ya, Spark," Shadow said.

He huffed. "I'm a cat-person. More cat than person. You're a person person. More person than cat. Cause no cat would be so cruel as to withhold fish..." that last part was muttered.

[shadowcourage]

"You're saying I'm a person because I'm a person. That isn't a definition. Why am I a 'person?' What makes me a person?" Shadow asked. "And I'm very cruel, but that also technically isn't a person thing either."

He huffed and rolled onto his side to stare at Shadow again. "You can walk into a store and order fish without starting a panic. you have opposable thumbs. Wear clothes. Get taken seriously by other actual people. Strangers are uncomfortable if you curl up in their lap."

Shadow grinned and his clothes shifted into something else. Away from the usual tunic into a hoody and jeans and then again into a dress shirt and nice pants, then back again.

"That ain't bending, by the way. I don't actually wear clothes. Real clothes get in the way of my abilities, so I just use my abilities to make them," he said with a shrug. "And back home, I walk into any public place and cause a panic. I have thumbs thanks to bending." Because its thanks to bending he exists as more then a shadow right now. "And I had thumbs before that thanks to someone else's dark magic. The curling up in the lap thing...eh, depends if you mean while I have bending or dark magic. Without those, no one would even notice."

He bends up a small fish. Not minnow, but not as big as a salmon either.

He leaps for the fish. Once it is safely under his paw he said "But you can do all that without Bending, and you can do Bending also. So person." Then he began eating.

"Bending is forbidden from being part of yer reasoning in this talk. We already talked about what it is, and its a distraction from the conversation at hand," Shadow said with a dismissive wave.

"Are ya really gonna say being able to do magic is the way to prove someone is a person? Because I can name a whole lot of things that can do plenty of magic without having the ability to think, let alone being a person," he said.

"You can have magic to make you look like a person person, and you can think and talk and argue, so you're a person person. Without a Storm... I'm a cat." Since you said Bending was off the table for the conversation. "I can't have opposable thumbs or stand up on my hind legs for any long stretch of time no matter what I do," without Bending.

The fish was already devoured down to bones, of course.

"Are you using having two arms and two legs as a reason for being a person person? Because not everything of my species has two arms and my legs. Honestly, most of my species looks more like a cat then they do a Hylian or a human," he said. "Storms are just intense bending and thus forbidden," he said with a wave of his hand. "And like I said, I only got opposable thumbs due to bending and storms and things in that vein, so if ya say it doesn't count when it changes ya, it doesn't count when it changes me. So thumbs don't apply to me."

"What even is your species, anyway? And make more fish while you talk."

He makes a smaller fish. "Only if ya keep talking."

"And there is that being taken seriously point. Because I wasn't taken seriously for a long time and ya know what I figured out? Didn't really have near as much to do with what I was as I thought," he said as he puts down the fish.

And then he taps Spark's shadow. "That is what I am."

He pounced on the fish, then gave Shadow a confused look. "You're a Train armrest?"

"No," Shadow said. "My name started as a descriptor more then anything. And only half of what it really is. Train was frankly rude putting it out there for all the world to see on the roster."

"Your name was A. Descriptor? What an odd name, even for you."

[shadowcourage]

He just quirks an eyebrow at him.

"What does the A stand for?"

[shadowcourage]

"Ya ever think that's why people don't take ya seriously?"

[death_from_above]

"Because I was raised by Donovan? Yep. But that part has less to do with being a cat and everything to do with being a Deegan." He puffed his best, a bit proud of that.

Adrien and the Doctor and Rose and the others were his new family. His found family. And he will always love them.

But the Deegans were his family for so much longer and have shaped so much of who he is. and really, so much of who Spark was came from Donovan and Greg. He'd love to say Miranda, but he wasn't that smart or loving.

"So that's another thing off. Not being taken seriously has nothing to do with being a person or not and everything to do with personality," Shadow said with a shrug.

"So you got a clue or not?"

He almost asked if he could buy a vowel, but stopped himself just in time.

"Fine, if you're so smart, argue the other side," he said, thinking less like Donovan now and more like Miranda. And Dominic.
