Fight Club Time Again (I had requests for it)

Where: Training Gym
When: Day 20
What: The Usual Fight club training. Where people come to spar and practice and learn with each other.
Warnings: Occasional language and violence? Also guns/firearms.

This time Trunks didn't bother to announce the Fight Club over the ICP. Not beyond a short announcement of day and time. The Club was already mentioned in train literature and most people knew about it, or could find out easily.

So instead he did his usual set-up. Marking off an area safely for ranged weapons and fire-arms, ensuring practice weapons and mats were all available. Even making sure there were first aid kids and an 'off-limits' area just for safety. Then, he's there as usual--to supervise, but also to train just like everyone else.

OOC:general set up is 'Ranged area demarcated by cones' 'off limits/healing area demarcated by cones' and the rest of the space covered in mats with training dummies set up

The Doctor gives a small head nod and a serious look, "Yeah. I could have put others in danger and that was wrong of me." There is a look on his face, he wouldn't have forgiven himself if someone had gotten injured.

"Good. As long as you're aware that every weapon's gotta be treated like a loaded one, that's one problem out of the way."

She grits her teeth and sighs again.

"And while we're at it, I'm glad I didn't end up kicking you in the nuts like I wanted."

The Doctor gives a head nod, "I acted rash out of my frustration and trauma. And that wasn't a smart thing to do. I get it."

The Doctor is silent for a moment, him too because that would have hurt, "I'm glad we both didn't escalate the situation where we both ended up regretting things we couldn't take back."

There is a short pause as The Doctor pops in another candy and continues to enjoy those, "You were right when you said that one day in the lab that I have been to war."

"I've seen enough people who have," Cassie says. "Some of them really close to me. I kinda know the look."

[borntolove]

"If I do something like that again, do kick me in the groin, won't you?" Just to stop him from being a danger to others, if nothing else.

"Not sure I'd open myself up for that kind of request if I were you," Cassie says.

[borntolove]

"I already did. It's better that than anyone getting hurt because of me, now, isn't it?"

[nutkrusher]

"Might be better if you helped yourself rather than hurt yourself, though," Cassie says.

"Admittedly we aren't as well set up for mental therapy as we are for physical therapy, but there are some people you can talk to around here."

Ten seems to freeze up at that notation. If only because he's not good at opening up that much with anyone.

"I'm fine."

[nutkrusher]

"Sure as shit aren't acting fine," Cassie says, grimacing.

"I know it's hard for dudes in particular to admit, but it's fine to not be fine. Especially if you've been through war."

[borntolove]

Thank goodness, he's sucking on candy. "Strange, you know? I'm not upset at this. Look, it's complicated."

He knows that he won't have a filter for long and really doesn't want to explain, what he means by 'other faces'. He is fine. Even if that's not the truth but a lie he tells himself, sometimes, like, now.

Even if someone is an alien, there is still that fear of rejection. Something that The Doctor has had by some of his companions. What if he gets in knee-deep and starts bringing up 'other face', and they find that weird and decide to go?

That War Doctor does not exist. He does not exist.

"I'm sure it is."

Cassie runs a hand through her hair and sighs.

"Look, I can't make you get help if you don't want to. But you don't have to bear everything alone. Trust me on this - you really don't. I know people who have literally been to Hell and back. Their stories were complicated, too.

"Which is why it's good they didn't have to manage alone."

The Doctor is listening and a part of him really wants to take the offer. There are just things, he rather deny. He'd rather lie to himself about some of his own faces or that Gallifrey burned.

Ten pops another candy into his mouth and blurts out, "Oi! And have any of them also have other faces?!" Wait, what did he just ask?

In an instant, has transformed into a bitty dragon

Under other circumstances, Cassie probably would have an answer, even to an odd question like that one.

Under these circumstances, however, she will hold the face pictured in this icon for a very long time.

"... Okay... What just happened?"

[nutkrusher]

"...you said something weird about changing faces and turned into a little ferret dragon?"

[borntolove]

"Blimey! That explains why I feel different." His voice seems to be pouting. Then begins to whine, "I like how I was! I'm tired of changing!" Finally a pause and a curious"...Neither of these bother you?"

[nutkrusher]

"Not as much as you trying to change the subject," Cassie says.

"Because all the shit I just said still stands."

[borntolove]

There's something very re-assuring about this right now. The lack of judgment of his form or rejection of it.

"Two things, let me find out how to change back, and then we'll find somewhere more private to chat. How does that sound?"

[nutkrusher]

"More or less acceptable."

An hour later, The Doctor texts Cassie to meet him in the Quiet Carts. There is a door open to the one The Doctor is currently sitting in.

Cassie doesn't look like she's gotten particularly more cheerful in the intervening hour, but she still seems to have kept her cool after this bizarre interruption.

She slips through the door and takes a seat.

"So let me preempt your weird question with one of my own. Did you or anybody you ever knew get killed, turned into an enslaved revenant, and then brought back?"

The Doctor closes the door after she enters. Ten stares a moment about the question, because the first half is, yes. However, he takes a moment about the second half. Is she saying that she knows someone who became a zombie?

Ten rubs his chin, he doesn't know all the ways Jack has died... "To my knowledge, no. Why?"

"Well, I know someone who has," Cassie says. "More than one someone, actually. And I can tell you, if there was help for them, there's help for you. However many...faces you've had."

[borntolove]

The Doctor winches, "I'm sorry. I'm so, sorry that they have. Are they here?"

However, he can appreciate her belief, her optimism and generally being okay, with the face-changing thing.

Ten ruffles his hair, "Not so good about talking about myself, me." Someone is a much better listener to everyone's problems and issues.
