Who wants to play a Game?
Kaito is, as often happens in between stops, bored. He's also exhausted, but with his existing issues, all this does is make him insomniac.
So.
Here he is, in the game carriage, being his usual self. He's managed to get back into juggling now, even if the things he juggles are... wait is that a lindusi claw!?! Let's just say he's been picking up souvenirs, shall we?
Sometimes he's playing cards, shuffling the decks in impossible patterns.
Or he'll turn and smile, and offer - "Wanna play a game?"

"What kind of game?" he asks, sitting down across from Kaito.

It's as normal a deck as any magician's deck is~
He grins and finishes the shuffle with a flourish, setting the deck down neatly in between them.
"Depends. You up for poker or maybe 500?"
He pulls an ace out of his sleeve and sets it on the pack with a wry grin.
"I promise not to cheat."
no subject
"Poker sounds good, as long as you're not asking me to actually bet anything." Because he doesn't actually have that many possessions on him, anyways.
no subject
"Nah!" Kaito grins at him and offers him the deck to shuffle.
"I only play for stakes with the Detectives, usually. And it's not like we've got anything to bet, on the train!"
no subject
"Nothing but things too precious to lose," notes Mako. "The Detectives are a specific group here?"
no subject
They're HIS detectives, specifically, two of the three who chase him. But Kaito can't really say that...
"Yeah. Well, they are to me? They're from my world, the Teen Detectives of the East and West - Tokyo and Kyoto, that is. They're kinda famous, in my world? Or at least, in my Japan. Also, I think they're the only detectives on board, but don't quote me on that."
He notes Mako's shuffling skills with pleasure - someone who knows how to play, then.
"I'm Kaito, by the way. Kuroba Kaito, or Kaito Kuroba if you prefer western order. Don't think I've met you before?"
no subject
Mako sets the deck of cards down. "Mako, Mako Tsunami. Which of us should deal?"
no subject
"Well, most people our age would be gamers, right? Those two are odd, like that." He says almost fondly. Dead bodies falling from the sky and all.
"My world seems to have a thing about young detectives though. There's a few of them, although they're the most famous." If only because Hakuba shuns the limelight.
"Why don't you do it this round, Mako-san?"
no subject
Mako nods, picking up the deck and starting to deal out the cards. He does keep a casual eye on them as he does so, looking to see if he can spot any particular marks on any of the backs.

Kaito grins back and finishes his shuffle with a flourish, setting the pack down neatly.
"What are you down for? I'm fond of poker, but being a magician I know some people don't feel like watching if I'm counting cards! There's UNO in the boxes or we could drag out one of the other games if you want."
no subject
"I know how to play uno, though."
no subject
"UNO it is, then!"
no subject
"How'd you do that...?"
no subject
He laughs.
"I'm a magician, can't tell you how it's done, it's part of the code."
no subject
“You’re not going to use it to cheat at UNO, right?”
Because that would be egregious wouldn’t it?
no subject
"I won't, unless you want me to. I only really cheat with the Detectives, I wouldn't do that to stranger."

As per the norm for Peter, he sneaks out of his cabin when sleep just doesn't want to happen and makes his way to the game car after stopping by the kitchen to get some coffee he's drowned with milk and sugar. Mostly Sugar.
"Man, the most I can manage is like.. the bridge thing." Peter shakes his head as he watches the obscure shuffling. "Can't sleep, either?"
no subject
"It's all just practice and hand-eye-co-ordination."
He shrugs. "Eh. I sleep odd hours at home, so I guess I've gotten used to it? Careful with the coffee. The little detective was here before, and he makes paint stripper."
no subject
"Sure." He decides against his better judgement. Maybe he can learn a shuffling trick and impress Gwen with it.
"Yeah, I know what you mean. I've been a member of club insomnia since I was like... eleven." He admits and then takes another sip of coffee. "Eh, I'm pretty sure I have enough sugar in here dampen even the strongest tasting coffee."
no subject
"I'm a pretty good teacher for this sort of thing, if I say so myself!"
He grimaces. "I like it strong, but man, Conan takes it to a whole new level."
no subject
“...is Conan okay? I mean, I ran into him uh... the other night and he seemed to suggest he also has a premium membership to club insomnia and I know that kids uh... usually it’s because of trauma and I mean, I only know that ‘cause that’s actually-uh never mind.
He just uh... he doesn’t seem very happy.
no subject
"Well. He's worried about stuff at home, I guess? That's true for all of us, after all. And your life sucks, you know that right, Peter-kun? Like. The number of bad things that happen to you..."
no subject
"Yeah, you... don't even know the half of it. So now I kinda live off this idea that I don't want to see what happened to me... happen to someone else, you know?" He offers a shrug. "I mean, I went through it so why should anyone else have to, right?"
He lets out a sigh runs his fingers over sides of the cards again. "Sorry, I'm sure you don't want to play counselor-so uh.. the cards?"
no subject
"If you wanna talk, I'll talk." He says, the mask of the joker dropping away. "I'd like to think we've become friends a bit, yeah? I mean, we've not know each other long, or even that well, but...at least a bit, yeah? But if you want a distraction, I'll teach you to play."
