[OTA] Laundry
Who: Lightning, Little One/Buttercup, Open
Where: Storage Car (laundry floor); Sleeper car
When: Apple, Day 4
What: With three days' worth of laundry, only some of it blood-stained, Light decides to get ahead of the game in the name of team points.
Warnings: Potential language
Notes: Starting in actiontags but use whatever you're comfy with and I'll match <3
Sleeper Car
[ Four large suitcases have been dragged out of the luggage car and left in the common section of the sleeper in the morning hours of Day 4, one of them already containing some of Lightning's red clothing and another her first pair of cargo pants and socks. She hopes it'll be self-explanatory, but just in case, she knocks on each cabin to get the attention of anyone inside and calls out a quick, ] Got any dirty clothes? Put'em in the cases out here.
[ That should be enough that everyone'll notice. She pauses in the midst of the suitcases, running a hand through her fringe distractedly. Do they have markers anywhere? She could write on them... but no, she'll just assume no one's an idiot. ]
Storage/Laundry section
[ She's hopefully collared Little One and/or Tony by now, but if not, it's not her lookout. She needs those stupid points to see if the train'll sell her a proper weapon - if they need 'em too, they'll show up.
The suitcases have migrated from the sleeper now that it's been a few hours; they're lined up against one of the walls in the store so she can sort the contents. She's trying not to look out of the window - they're passing through what she can only assume is the lime green sector of the void, and the entire room is limned in a sickly glow. She's stood, bathed in green void light, holding a box of detergent. It's a ridiculously mundane task to be doing in this environment, but it's this or go stir-crazy. ]
Let's.... try doing the purple first.

Sleeper Car / sorry not sorry
Not even pokemon are immune from 'if I fits I sits' and he seems quite at home just being a cute pest. One that is polite enough to not destroy any clothes. Just sit on them..
What do, Lightning?]
s-sob
So. It's gonna be like that, is it. ]
... [ why is it staring at her like that ] Find somewhere else to sleep.
no subject
Because he knows he's cute? Cute enough to attempt to get away with snuggling down into the clothes a bit with what could pass for a purr or curring like sound. Whatever it is, He's content.
But very much not wanting to move.]
no subject
You sure? Everyone's gonna throw their dirty clothes in there.
no subject
Well, that's what he's claiming as he seems to nod. More clothes means more of a nest and it isn't like he's a stranger to clothes piling on him.
Actually, he looks pretty thrilled at the idea.]
no subject
If anyone else objects to him sleeping on their clothes, they can take it up with him themselves. And speaking of no one being around, she reaches out with a little hesitancy, and pats him on the head. ]
Storage/Laundry section.
Just show me where to put them...I don't want anyone else touching this stuff. The rest of the clothes are fine, though!
no subject
Thanks for that. Let's see now... you use the machine at the other end, and I'll come find you when it's done.
no subject
Magitek...well I'll get it started by shoving this stuff in there, at least! [She's a bit bemused by it, and her potential inability.] I'm not terribly familiar with magitek devices--I still take my clothes down to the stream with a bit of soap and beat them against a rock 'til they're clean, at home.
Still, if you need help lugging, I don't mind. [She's not in it for points, inasmuch as Sarai isn't very good at sitting still. She's probably doing chores for the team they have no members for, too...]
no subject
We did that a few times on the road, but they've given us the tech, might as well use it. [ Will she admit that she spent the morning puzzling through the manual for these things? No. ] You need to fill that drawer to the middle line with the detergent, then make sure everything's closed and hit the blue button on the left. I think.
no subject
I have to wonder if I ought to try getting pigment for dye, just in case these outfits of ours fade, eventually. [It's an idle thought, really, but she's got enough alchemy ability to make clothing dye and paint at the very least, if it came to that.]
I might have to consider getting a few jars for that sort of thing, just in case. [In truth, her notebook is becoming more of a grocery list, by now.]
no subject
no subject
Huh. That's an interesting thought. It's almost tempting enough to make an attempt, so long as we had some replacements...
no subject
We have seven shirts each, I'm sure someone will donate one when we find dye. Anyway, I'll come find you when your load's ready - unless you're alright with me just using the ICP.
no subject
It isn't as if I have much to do right now. I could offer a hand, keep you company? I'm sure it's boring just watching clothes dry! But even I could offer one of my shirts. Maybe we'll find other clothes when we stop, too. That might be nice, I might like a frock...even if I don't wear it often!
no subject
It's gonna be an hour of sitting around, but I won't stop you... What's there to dress up for?
no subject
[And privacy's not much of a thing. But yes, she does tend to leave the intimidation thing to Dread. He's good at it...]
Nothing yet, but there's no telling there won't be. And it always helps to clean up nice if we need to do something diplomatic...
[Though Sarai realizes that's probably going to be something she does...]
no subject
You think we'd have to do something like that?
no subject
[At least in part because it didn't bother her a bit!]
no subject
In that case I'll definitely help you find a dress... if we ever get to a shop.
no subject
You're on, I certainly wouldn't mind the help! Though you don't seem like a dress person. Perhaps a sort of dress suit? You don't have to go on a diplomatic mission, but sometimes I feel as if it helps to look sharp.
It's not as if I wouldn't convince Dread to do the same. Dress up, I mean. [And poor Dread, he does often acquiesce to the whims of his wife...]
no subject
It had not taken much to convince Little One to help. She wasn't about to say no to a priestess and on top of that she was bored. There wasn't much to do on this ship-train, everyone was stupid light followers and older than her. She had to be on her best behaviour and she was stuck inside.
Also the weird message had said red team had to do laundry.]
We do no be having any water... [Impossible to do laundry without water. But no there Lightning is holding some strange powder like you can wash clothes with string and powder and metal boxes.] Do you be wanting me to be fetching some?
no subject
Uh, so... the water goes into the machine through pipes, and these clothes are new, so if we wash them all together the colours might run. For now, we'll keep them separate. Later, when they've faded, it won't matter.
no subject
She listens though, the water moved through pipes and the colours might run away?
Urgh she had a headache. This train was so stupid.] So the machine do be bringing the water? [Is she understanding this right? She peered inside the machine.]
no subject
[ She deserves that look, she figures, so she doesn't comment on it. ]
no subject
She began gathering the purple things, pushing them into the machine. She's interested in how this works, it's a very strange thing indeed.]
no subject
I've met a few people who didn't have modern technology back in their worlds. Don't think they'd have picked it up as fast as you, though.
no subject
But also...] You did be meeting people from different worlds before?
no subject
Yeah, I was in another world that wasn't my own before this one, but it was less about trains and more about beating the crap out of each other for two gods' stupid crusade.
no subject
[Two gods? Which gods? If they were fighting was it the shadow god? Or were just two of the light gods bickering?
Gods are a mystery but ancient stories told of the gods all arguing all the time.]
no subject
[ brb kid, loading the other machine with an armful of cargo pants and socks. ]
no subject
She finishes putting all the purple things in the machine.] Do I be shutting the door?
no subject
Yeah. Then pour this into the drawer until it reaches the line. [ Here, have the detergent. ]
Did you help out with this stuff back home too?
no subject
I did be helping washing clothes yes but no like this. We do be using a bucket and water and soap. Do you be knowing soap? You do be making it with fat and ashes and lime. It do be smelling less weird than this white stuff.
[She would like to think something as common as soap would be known in other worlds but everything is so weird here.]
