Winter Wonderland [Event]

”Good Morning passengers. Today is day Twenty Four of the month of Catfish. You may wish to look out of the window.”

As passengers wake in their beds they will indeed notice something different about the light. If they look out of the window, instead of the ever changing void they will see white slopes of mountains, flakes of snow alling down around them and frost covered trees zipping past the windows. If they glance at the ICP on the table they will see a message.

Investigating the dressing cart they will find the drawers and cupboards unlocked once again. However, instead of the fantasy-esque clothing of world #25768 they will find thick winter coats, hats, gloves and scarves. There are heavy fur lined boots and even some ice skates.

Entering the garden carriage they will see that the glass dome of the roof has opened, leaving the carriage exposed to a bright blue sky. Any nonsense of the past few weeks has vanished, leaving the carriage pristine. Not that that is easy to notice as it is covered in a thick layer of snow. The paths are clearer, a light dusting of snow but easy to talk through. Around the paths the drifts are high, perfect for snowman building or a snowball fight.

The streams and the pond in the centre are solid ice. Anyone brave enough to try to find the ice holds their weight for ice skating.

And the ICP message was correct. There is hot chocolate in the stores.

There's just a looong awkward pause. Because whew, this conversation sure is blowing Inigo's mind right now. He's seen a lot of stuff back home, but hearing about this is something totally new to him.

"You.. sure have some impressive cold resistance." That's the only thing he figures he can say right now. Although 'impressive' is honestly an understatement here. "I've never heard of anything like it."

And Danny finally realizes.

"Uh, did I mention I'm half ghost?"

[flatteries]

".. No."

He's making a bit of A Face. It's not even that Inigo necessarily looks surprised - he's seen weirder things, both back home and here - but it's just pretty ridiculous that that thought only came to Danny just now.

"Do you usually not think to mention that? You don't exactly look like you're half ghost."

He makes a face. "I'm still getting used to the no secret identities thing here. It wasn't exactly something I just came out and admitted back home."

[flatteries]

"Why? Because people might be afraid of you?"

It's something he can imagine, even though the knowledge doesn't seem to scare Inigo himself. But he imagines he's seen wilder things than the average person, which is why even the idea of someone being half ghost doesn't startle him. (It's kind of confusing though. How can someone be only half dead?)

"That's big part of it. But mostly because all the scientists back home keep telling people that all ghosts are evil."

He did want to tell his parents, at least. But it was hard to get the resolve up to tell them when everytime he ran into them as a ghost they were shooting at him and accusing him of being an evil ghost mastermind.

Inigo frowns. Not necessarily because of a dislike of anti-ghost propaganda or anything, no, he's just trying real hard to think over here. And what is he thinking about, you may ask?

".. Scien.. tists?"

.. yeah, apparently he just doesn't know what those are. Welcome to ye olde medieval fantasy times.

"Are those a kind of leaders where you come from?"

And that blindsides Danny. It takes him a moment to figure out a response.

"Uh, experts? People who study a certain topic?"

He was drawing a blank on how else to explain it.

[flatteries]

"I.. think I understand." Although he sounds a little hesitant about it, considering there could be something lost in translation here. He's mostly thinking of Laurent and the way the guy would never stop reading books..

.. would Laurent tell people ghosts are evil though? He has no idea. Maybe he should ask the guy once he gets home.

"But if you're a ghost, and they study ghosts, then surely they must know ghosts aren't evil." There's a slight pause, and then he looks over at Danny - with a hint of something playful bordering on dramatic, like he's just taking this lightly. "Unless there is something you're not telling me."

Yes, clearly Danny is a hidden evil mastermind.

Danny scowls.

"They study ghosts, but they've never actually talked to one without pointing a weapon first. So of course all the decent ghosts that just want to be left alone stay far away, and they only ever see the ones causing trouble. Which just keeps convincing them that all ghosts are evil."

He'd had plenty of time to think about this and try to figure out where everything went wrong.

[flatteries]

"That sounds like quite the pickle you've found yourself in."

Thanks for summing it up like that, Inigo.. It sounds a little too casual for what is most likely a huge problem to Danny, but this is just how Inigo works. He has to keep everything light to keep things from getting sad.

"So I assume you don't want to approach them as well to convince them since they might attack you before you can even say anything?"
