Winter Wonderland [Event]

”Good Morning passengers. Today is day Twenty Four of the month of Catfish. You may wish to look out of the window.”

As passengers wake in their beds they will indeed notice something different about the light. If they look out of the window, instead of the ever changing void they will see white slopes of mountains, flakes of snow alling down around them and frost covered trees zipping past the windows. If they glance at the ICP on the table they will see a message.

Investigating the dressing cart they will find the drawers and cupboards unlocked once again. However, instead of the fantasy-esque clothing of world #25768 they will find thick winter coats, hats, gloves and scarves. There are heavy fur lined boots and even some ice skates.

Entering the garden carriage they will see that the glass dome of the roof has opened, leaving the carriage exposed to a bright blue sky. Any nonsense of the past few weeks has vanished, leaving the carriage pristine. Not that that is easy to notice as it is covered in a thick layer of snow. The paths are clearer, a light dusting of snow but easy to talk through. Around the paths the drifts are high, perfect for snowman building or a snowball fight.

The streams and the pond in the centre are solid ice. Anyone brave enough to try to find the ice holds their weight for ice skating.

And the ICP message was correct. There is hot chocolate in the stores.

"Yes." She smiles at her. "There is beauty in ephemerality - and snow is one of the best examples of that."

"Here one day, melted or dirty the next." ...well at least she's definitely going to last longer than snow.

[marriedanidiot]

"Until the next snowfall." She nods. "And again, and again, until spring comes."

[pleple]

"And then the next year, and on, and on?" While we all get older.

[marriedanidiot]

"Tenn' ambar metta - Until the World ends, as my people would say." Nerdanel nods. "The cycle of the seasons goes on."

[pleple]

"...making all the same mistakes, all along." That part is sobering. "Where I come from people seem not to learn."

[marriedanidiot]

"Sometimes." She agrees. "But not always. People can change - it just... might take a while."

She may, or may not, be specifically referencing her husband, at this point.

[pleple]

"Then they need to do better at passing those lessons on." Otherwise nothing will change...

[marriedanidiot]

Nerdanel reflects on the bitter lessons her husband's exile has taught and smiles sadly.

"Sometimes they are. There's no way of knowing."

[pleple]

"Then some people might very well have a worthwhile future." In her own world... would she have any?

[marriedanidiot]

"One must hope so! But there's no predicting people, I think."

[pleple]

"There's hardly anywhere for this to go while we're here anyways, though."

[marriedanidiot]

She laughs softly.

"True! All pointless philosophical endeavours, while we remain stuck here. Still. It's something to do, while we wait. Were you planning on trying any of the activities?" She gestures at those on the skate rink, and the younger ones throwing snowballs and trying to bury each other in snow.

[pleple]

"...I might try ice skating." Snowball fights look a bit less elegant, and she's very coordinated.

Nerdanel looks out towards the ice and smiles.

"I wish you luck! It is quite difficult, from memory, at least, in the beginning. Once you have an idea of what you are doing, tis easier. It has been a very, very long time since I did anything similar. I'm probably too old for such antics now."

[pleple]

"I'm quite light on my feet." Although she'd probably be able to skate a giant robot around even more easily. "...you don't seem terribly old."

[marriedanidiot]

"Why thank you." She smiles in thanks. "But that's not got anything to do with my age - we elves don't age as mortals do. I'm so old I stopped counting yeni ago as it was getting a little ridiculous."

Also, with most of her family gone, there really seemed no point.

[pleple]

"But do you lose fitness with age then? It's not like you have anything to lose by trying, right?" And Ple Two doesn't want to be embarrassed alone.

[marriedanidiot]

Nerdanel considers.

"Well... no, you're right. I suppose it cannot do any harm to try, at least!"

[pleple]

Success. "Before that, I am Ple Two." Which isn't much of a name, but they can only go so long without introductions. "Let's... work this out."

[marriedanidiot]

She bobs a polite curtsy. "A star shines on the hour of our meeting, Ple Two. I am Nerdanel."

[pleple]

That's... poetic. "Nerdanel. A pleasure."

[marriedanidiot]

She smiles and gestures.

"Well then! Shall we brave the ice? I don't see skates, but perhaps we can find some in the dressing cart."

[pleple]

"Lead the way?" ...so that you can help her put them on?

[marriedanidiot]

"Of course!" She'll help Ple select a pair that fit, and show her how to tie them so as to be firm, but not too tight.

"Alright, ready to try? I warn again, is has been a long time since I did this myself!"
