Winter Wonderland [Event]

”Good Morning passengers. Today is day Twenty Four of the month of Catfish. You may wish to look out of the window.”

As passengers wake in their beds they will indeed notice something different about the light. If they look out of the window, instead of the ever changing void they will see white slopes of mountains, flakes of snow alling down around them and frost covered trees zipping past the windows. If they glance at the ICP on the table they will see a message.

Investigating the dressing cart they will find the drawers and cupboards unlocked once again. However, instead of the fantasy-esque clothing of world #25768 they will find thick winter coats, hats, gloves and scarves. There are heavy fur lined boots and even some ice skates.

Entering the garden carriage they will see that the glass dome of the roof has opened, leaving the carriage exposed to a bright blue sky. Any nonsense of the past few weeks has vanished, leaving the carriage pristine. Not that that is easy to notice as it is covered in a thick layer of snow. The paths are clearer, a light dusting of snow but easy to talk through. Around the paths the drifts are high, perfect for snowman building or a snowball fight.

The streams and the pond in the centre are solid ice. Anyone brave enough to try to find the ice holds their weight for ice skating.

And the ICP message was correct. There is hot chocolate in the stores.

Danny is confused.

"You do realize that I barely even know what abstract art is?"

He'd slept through that class after a particularly late night involving the Box Ghost and a shipment of bubblewrap.

She laughs, a soft, friendly sound.

"Why, it's art that doesn't look like anything in particular! Abstract art is all about emotion - what do you feel, what do you want other people to feel?

"So what I'm saying here is that ice is cold?"

Danny may have slept through most of his art classes.

"Maybe!" She laughs. "But I suspect... this one, here. There's frustration, here. And apprehension, or uncertainty. Boredom, I think."

She traces the lines as she goes.

And that was a little creepy.

"Wait, how are you getting all of that out of this?"

[marriedanidiot]

"I'm an artist, dear. And a mother. And although I've not worked with ice or snow before, it's song is not that hard to interpret, when you've put so much into it in the first place."

"Ice sings? The Far Frozen never mentioned that!"

[marriedanidiot]

"All things sing, if you know how to listen." She laughs softly. "Although 'sing' is perhaps a misnomer. You could say 'speak' too, but that's not quite right either."

"Are you serious now, or is this some kind or prank?"

Because most of the things he knew that could speak had been possessed first.

"No." She shakes her head. "I don't know if humans can learn to hear the world as we do, but all that is has a song of it's own. You can do much, if you know how to listen and speak to the world."

"I talked to a plant ghost once?" he offers. "But he was trying to brainwash all the humans on the planet into plant caring zombies and kill me at the time, so it wasn't a great conversation."

An eyebrow goes up.

"That... sounds quite bad, yes. But no... it is something my people all can do, although some hear the Song of the world much clearer than others. But all that exists is part of the Great Music, our philosophers say, and so if one learns to hear, all that exists has a song of it's own - a strand that composes it's part."
