Egret, Day 23
Who: Glorfindel and Open
When: Day 23
Where: Kitchen
What: Food and knives!
Warning: Sharp things
Having taken Evie's class and learned how to use the stove, Glorfindel was able to take part in his Team's chores of preparing the meals. Although, technically, that was what some of the more experienced cooks did. Glorfindel was more of a sous chef (chopper of things). Today he was making some quick, portable snacks that people could come and take with them if they wanted to go to the gym or the library or elsewhere on the train.
[What do people want? Come and ask! You might not get what you hope, but it will be interesting!]
He has also made an concerted effort to go through the kitchen and sharpen every blade in the room, except the butter spreaders.
[You can come help or just chat about sharp things!]

"And do you also jump first, and look after?" She blinks, and laughs softly.
"Oh! I never... but that's true, isn't it! Elrond is Turukano's great grandson!"
no subject
"Again, not something that comes up often in conversation. That and his Maia ancestress on his mother's side. He is a person of many parts, our Elrond." And all of them stubborn.
no subject
"I suppose it might get frustatinng, people only seeing the legend, and not the truth of you."
She nods. "That is true! He has always just been... Elrond, to me. I should get to know him better, but as I am not his real grandmother, it always seemed overly presumptous, when he has so many kin who are eager to meet him again."

He shook his head. "Please do visit him. He's spent his entire life losing one family member after another, he's never met huge chunks of them. He's just lost his daughter, as well. Give him an embarrassment of familial riches, please. He will be awkward and look uncomfortable at first, but as his friend for the last almost five thousand years, believe me when I say, he will be exceedingly happy. It is his deepest wish, right after seeing his wife again."
"You could even pinch his cheek, though that one's for Celebrian. She will laugh and that will make him happy too." He grinned.

He gave her a look that said he didn't know. "It is worth talking to her. She knows the pain you do, multiplied by the fact she doesn't even have hope of seeing one of her sons again. She at least WILL see her brothers again."
"Plus, I'd vouch for you," he added with a genuine smile.

She eyes the cake and nods.
"I think it looks good. Should we ice it?"
She takes it out carefully.

"Normally yes! But it isn't terribly big, so perhaps we should restrain ourselves..."

"Ai! You can eat it if you want, O Lord of the Golden Flower. No need to beg!"

"If that was all it took, believe you me when I say all of my sons would have been round!"

She eyes it. "Not too thick - the cake is not so large, and is dense enough that we ought not overwhelm it."
no subject
He nodded and spread on a nice thin layer of frosting around the sides of the cake. On the top he went just a hair thicker, because it was the top. Once done, he took a toothpick and scored lines in the top to make a crosshatch pattern. "How is that?"
no subject
She nods approvingly. "Oh, well done! That looks lovely!"
no subject
"Thank you," he said with a deep bow. "From one as talented as you, I take that as a great compliment!"
no subject
"Pish." She flaps a hand at him. "Cake decorating is hardly sculpture!"
