Fight Club Open Log! (Catch-All For the Month of Fiddlesticks)

This is an OPEN LOG for anyone to join. Make toplevels to your heart's content and tag around to each other freely. Whether your character is offering to teach or wanders in looking for someone to get them involved (or just to watch), this is a post for you! You may use this for any sort of open or even private threads if you so wish.

This log is for anyone who wants to participate in exercising, training, sparring, and teaching lessons. Some of the "classes" also involve things like yoga, meditation, and easier self defense mechanisms for anyone to learn. Magic users are also extremely encouraged to use the practice dummies and other facilities as well! After all, they also need to practice and also get used to having physical fighters near them as they spellcast. And vice versa. Plus, some people use both abilities in battle!

Basically, if you want to learn new skills that could be useful on missions, come take a peek!


For a basic set-up consider this: a majority of this takes place in the gym; it's regulars have set it up with target dummies and various practice armaments. Armaments currently consist of things like wooden practice swords, poles, and bows and arrows. A few real weapons can be borrowed from either 47 (or perhaps others willing to share) or created by Piccolo upon request. (If you have any weapons or items to add to the practice sessions, please drop a line in the ooc post!) Of course characters can always bring and use their own items these are just for general use for anyone without armaments already. No one is regulating anything like that.


Various characters will be around to help answer questions icly if you like (I have 47 on offer for starters) and if you have any ooc questions or comments drop a line over here! An ic announcement was also made by 47 if your character needs an impetus for heading towards the gym. c:

Piccolo's one dietary need was sitting next to Raven so he stopped by periodically to grab a bottle of water to digest. One of those trips over he paused thoughtfully after drinking half a bottle. He had seen Raven around the train, of course, but not done much more than give her a quiet nod whenever they ended up meditating in the same carriage.

He glanced at the first aid kits and away again. "So you're good at medical stuff?"

Conversational starter he typically was not.

"I offered to play Healer whenever this is going on." Raven responded, not bothered by the lack of a good conversation starter. The older being was quiet and calm and they'd occasionally found themselves in the same area for meditation. Couldn't be more different than Beast Boy in Raven's mind, which was good even if she missed her team-mates too.

"I'm used to most mundane means as well as magic, and for a variety of of beings. I was part of a super-hero team back home." All said as dryly and matter of fact as if she were commenting on the weather.

At the mention of 'superhero team' the Namekian got a look of mild displeasure--or was it embarrassment?--which was mostly noticeable from the droop of his pointed ears. He shook his head and the expression disappeared instantly as if it never were.

"That's good, I suppose. The experience, I mean. Useful for a place like this."

The droop of ears was noted, but not commented on. "It's come in handy so far." She agreed, already sensing that like her--he was not one for small talk.

"Raven." Offering her name, as she did to most since she was known as one of the healers on board. "I'll start setting aside water bottles for you specifically, when I'm on duty."

He blinked dully before he realized she had introduced herself. "I'm Piccolo," he returned. "That's not really necessary, Raven. I can always get my own, no need to burden yourself with my care taking. If anything I shouldn't be taking the ones here for emergency purposes."

"If you prefer, Mr. Piccolo." To his choice of bringing bottles of water. "You look like you don't need reminders to hydrate or take care of yourself as it is. I have to remind some people to eat and sleep."

"I hope not. I usually don't have this many people around to rely on," he said with a small hmph that sounded a little like a blunted laugh. "A pity some people need that."


"I suppose it's a good thing they have you though." Piccolo couldn't find a good segue for getting to a better topic so he just relied on his blunt nature to head in another direction anyway. "You mentioned you're good with magic arts. Just healing or anything else?"

"Some people never grow up, they just grow taller." An attempt at dry humor, as she'd caught the blunted laugh.

"I have a background in basic rituals involving dimensional travel and augmentation of powers via spell casting, as well as potion-making." Among other things. "I was raised by the monks of Temple Azarath in another dimension." Maybe that would clarify it some more, especially as she used her dark-energy to levitate a bottle of water over to him anyway.

Piccolo reached out and grabbed the bottle. The energy didn't seem to have any negative effects despite it's ominous looking nature. He didn't get any intuitive feeling of evil from Raven either so he didn't think her dark magic could be as bad as it seemed. It made it feel odd then when he felt dark energy used by a good person. Something he couldn't explain.

"May I ask you how your magic works?" he asked cautiously. He wasn't certain he would understand even if it was explained to him or if it would make sense with his own world's magic either. But it was worth a shot.

"A lot of it is innate, and I'm not sure I understand your question." Raven answered, not entirely sure what he meant. "I've studied meditation and rituals and symbolism. A lot of it is applying my will to a focused effect."

Well, that was about as much as Piccolo understood about his own magic to be fair. At least the first part. The studying part however...

"So you don't do anything specific? Even the ritual based magics? No one taught you any of your magic then?"

"I was raised by monks. I also use books. It depends on what I want to do. Sometimes casting a full circle, and using specific herbs or oils or tools, can help me achieve what I want. Sometimes I can do it just by willing it myself."

Piccolo frowned thoughtfully. Perhaps it just wasn't meant to be. Honestly, he wasn't really certain what he was expecting. He was a fighter, not a magic user.

"...I understand." He didn't really understand at all. "It sounds like there's a lot of different types of magic."
