Fight Club Open Log! (Catch-All For the Month of Fiddlesticks)
This is an OPEN LOG for anyone to join. Make toplevels to your heart's content and tag around to each other freely. Whether your character is offering to teach or wanders in looking for someone to get them involved (or just to watch), this is a post for you! You may use this for any sort of open or even private threads if you so wish.
This log is for anyone who wants to participate in exercising, training, sparring, and teaching lessons. Some of the "classes" also involve things like yoga, meditation, and easier self defense mechanisms for anyone to learn. Magic users are also extremely encouraged to use the practice dummies and other facilities as well! After all, they also need to practice and also get used to having physical fighters near them as they spellcast. And vice versa. Plus, some people use both abilities in battle!
Basically, if you want to learn new skills that could be useful on missions, come take a peek!
For a basic set-up consider this: a majority of this takes place in the gym; it's regulars have set it up with target dummies and various practice armaments. Armaments currently consist of things like wooden practice swords, poles, and bows and arrows. A few real weapons can be borrowed from either 47 (or perhaps others willing to share) or created by Piccolo upon request. (If you have any weapons or items to add to the practice sessions, please drop a line in the ooc post!) Of course characters can always bring and use their own items these are just for general use for anyone without armaments already. No one is regulating anything like that.
Various characters will be around to help answer questions icly if you like (I have 47 on offer for starters) and if you have any ooc questions or comments drop a line over here! An ic announcement was also made by 47 if your character needs an impetus for heading towards the gym. c:

47 | OTA for general questions, pestering, spars, training, and anything else
His normal routine consists of physical fitness in the morning and light sparring in the evening, or harder sparring upon request. Whenever he's not exercising or sparring specifically he's easy to approach as he watches everyone go about their personal training from the sidelines or conducts routine maintenance on equipment. 47 will readily help newcomers and veterans alike with finding teachers and sparring partners and is pretty good at appropriately pairing people up for both. He will also easily agree to spar or coach another with almost any sort of combat type.
Basically, a character can approach him for just about anything concerning the nature of this would-be Fight Club scenario going on here!
Things that can be handwaved: 47 helping clear out the gym for people to use it to play instead of spar; asking him to help partner characters together for spars or training; giving your character a recommended physical fitness routine; friendly hand-to-hand sparring sessions. Any of these items can also be threaded out if you wish!

Because that meant some actual moving, and if they're going to be stuck on a train for who knows how long, he might as well take any excuse he can get.
So Tidus goes in looking for the man of the moment, the one over the video; and with that bald head of his, he isn't difficult to spot. Tidus has the decency not to interrupt the guy if he's already in the middle of something, but he's relaxed as he makes his way over to the man, friendly when he speaks up. Wearing purple team colours, his hoodie tied around his waist.
"Hey! I saw that video you put out to the train. You mind if I ask you a few questions?"

He squared off in front of Tidus, ready to engage. His expression was neutral and his voice had been just as it was on the video earlier; calm, emotionless, and steady.

Samata had hesitantly approached him during the training hours. "I'm not much of a physical fighter. I lived a peaceful life until the last year or two, and even then I was able to deal with most problems either with magic, or by running away or hiding behind a larger and sturdier friend. But that's not always going to be an option, I think."

"It never hurts to be prepared for any possible scenario," 47 said. "A certain amount of physical fitness combined with an awareness of your capabilities can help keep your mind sharp and ready as well. The body's system is all interconnected--when one system runs askew it's easier to disrupt the other areas as well."
He was leading to a point, sort of. He was getting there now.
"If you've come to me specifically for coaching, we can start with physical fitness to hone your body and basic self defense mechanisms to practice daily. You don't have to be heavily muscled to take on an opponent but knowing what you are and are not capable of goes a long way into winning a battle."
And if that's not actually what she was looking for--well, he can always switch tactics and offer her weapons lessons. He even might spare a gun for her.

She sometimes approaches people when she is particularly interested in a fighting style. But for the most part she watches and copies. She has a base at least, in the fighting Kant had taught her and it had been built on by Tony.
Mostly though she works on getting stronger, she is small even for her age and that is always going to hamper her in a fight. Even if she fights smart.

She's pacifistic by nature, but if asked she might be willing to demonstrate how she does self-defense. A combination of her powers and basic hand-to-hand-training.

When he's not engaged in the gym he can be found walking around watching others or meditating off to the side. That latter may seem dangerous at times but unbeknownst to everyone else he was still watching the action with his ki sense even while his eyes were closed. Stray forms of energy seemed to deflect or absorb into him as he ignored them and stray fighters were easily dodged even if it looked like he wasn't going to have time to move. More importantly, this was a good time to approach him and ask about weapons if one so desired.
II. Everything Else
Eventually he had also warmed up to the idea of training others. He now openly offered to teach his form of martial arts and ki manipulation techniques. The Namekian was a strict master but willing to work with the people on the train. He was confident that anyone could learn his abilities if they trained hard enough. If people wanted to learn to fly they were going to have to put up with his strict regime though.

Drizzt Do'Urden | OTA -- Sparring, Talking, Training -- Entire Month
Learning of this place was a welcome note for Drizzt. Combat was in his blood, to spite his best efforts or suppress it. Violence was in his nature; his father had been the greatest weapons master in all Menzoberranzan and he had trained under Zaknafein Do'Urden personally. The practiced motions of training brought him closer to his father, to the good memories, few was they were, that he had of his life before leaving his homeland.
This place, like the Greenhouse car, was a place of solace for the Drow, but in a separate way. Where the Greenhouse allowed him to become lost, allowed his thoughts to wander and allowed him to think. Here, in the gym, his thoughts were honed to a razor's edge; all that mattered here was combat, survival, and the sharing of those skills with others. Here was a place of purpose. If the train's will be that they fight in defense of others, Drizzt would do his part to ensure all those collected here could do so to the best of their abilities.
He could be found here every day, from mid-day until roughly an hour before dinner time, running through motions, sparring wielding two long swords against one of the training dummies, or sitting quietly along the wall, legs crossed and eyes closed. He opens them when someone approaches, as he was merely meditating.
He is clad in the same pants, but no hoodie is present, giving people a clearer view of his black skin and white hair, his pointed ears obvious as his hair is pulled back to afford ease of movement.

Whoever is at the gym first is irrelevant -- only that Tidus comes for their spar with the same sword he used on the beaches of the mission, resting it across his lap as he squats to stretch out his legs, warming up for what's about to occur. Like a proper JRPG protag.
"So? Am I banned from using magic?" He says it like a taunt, but with the same kind of jesting that's been passed between them so far. Adding, as he straightens himself to give his shoulders a simultaneous roll. "Just our own two feet and weapons, huh?"

Glorfindel | OTA for training, sparring, and general discussion about weaponry
He will help with general fitness and stretching, with Meditation (though he might suggest they move to another car as to not be in everyone's way), and both beginning and advanced bladed or bow weapons. He will also agree to spar more advanced fighters.
He typically is wearing just his leggings, no shirt, no shoes, and has his hair tied back. Bask in the tanning opportunity, people!

Cassie Cage | OTA | training and sparring all month
She'd feel a lot better if she can fight someone she doesn't have to hold back against or worry about breaking. But for everyone else, she offers practical fitness and self-defense training for all levels, including complete beginners.
Don't let her surliness at her current predicament dissuade you. She's quite an agreeable teacher.
