[Announcement on the trainwide ICP - Voice and Visual]

Hello fellow VoidTrekkers. I know that some of you have been missing music as much as I, and having whet my appetite for it at the recent beach party, I was thinking we could make some ourselves. To that end, I have reserved the Cinema for the evening.

If you would like to play or sing or express yourself with dance, please, come and perform. If you cannot or do not want to participate on stage, we also need an audience. Please come and support those who are performing.

If you have any questions, I will be there all evening. I will also be taking down names of those who want to perform, so you can watch while waiting.

[Player note: You don't actually have to talk to Glorfindel first...that can be handwaved :) You can just do a Top-Level for your Performance.]

Glorfindel was a little nervous as he stood next to the screen. He has a clipboard in hand with a piece of blank paper, ready to write down names of those who would like to perform.

"How has the bamboo been growing? Could a flute be made from some of it? I know how to play a classical flute, a wooden or bamboo wouldn't be much different. I just lack the technical knowledge to know how to cut the holes." Trowa walked up to Glorfindel, his hands in his pockets. He was wearing his hoodie with the sleeves removed, and Amira was riding in the hood, peeking over his shoulder.

"Trowa," Glorfindel said, smiling at the young man walking up to him. "And who is your adorable little friend?"

"Absolutely. The bamboo is ready, any time you are. I can make you a basic flute quite easily, then you could decorate and refine it as you see fit," he offered.

Turning so Glorfindel could see Amira better, Trowa smiled. "This is Amira, my kitten. She's a wild breed, but she'd taking to the train and all the people very well. And I would greatly appreciate the flute. I doubt we know the same songs, but I can learn pretty quickly by ear if you have some you can teach me."

"It is very nice to meet you, Amira," Glorfindel said. "Does she enjoy ear scritchings?" he asked Trowa. If she were a kitten, she might not have an opinion yet.

"If you want to go to the Greenhouse car and get a suitable length, about this long," he indicated with his hands, "I can start it while here, if you don't mind."

Prompto bounded down the hallway after hearing the announcement. He still had his activity book in his hand from where he'd been bored and doodling. A little winded, he ran up to the man who had been in the message.

"H- hey, wh- what- what if- uh- whew, sorry..," he puffed, trying to talk while out of breath. He took a second to take a deep breath and try again. "What if I've never really done anything? Like I've sang but just like.. in the shower or in the car?"

"You enjoy singing?" Glorfindel asked. He felt honored that the person had obviously run the entire way there. "If so, you are welcome!"

"How would you like to be introduced? What will you be performing?"

"Oh, I'm Glorfindel, by the way." It occurred to him that if he didn't know the other's name, they might not know his, either.

"Yeah!" He answered, bobbing his head in an enthusiastic confirmation. "Awesome!" He was in and he didn't have to audition or anything!

"Me? Uh, I'm Prompto Argentum." His smile sobered a bit at the other question. Maybe there was an audition! "I'm supposed to sing right now?" Oh boy. He could do this. He could.. why didn't he bring Gladio?

At hearing Glorfindel's name, he stuck out his hand. "Nice to meet you! Were you a music teacher or something before you came here?"

Glorfindel shook the offered hand, smiling at the other's enthusiasm. "No, I was the Captain of Imladris's Guard. Music is just something elves really enjoy, and I was hoping others would too."

"If you don't want to sing now, you don't have to, but we only have the space when I can reserve it." He laughed. "Movies are very popular, it seems."

You know who has zero intention of performing anything for anyone at all? Fandaniel.

But he's fond of arts after a fashion and has no problem 'cheering' others on in their endeavors. He's expecting something of a children's production, but he's been surprised before! Which means when the Ascian turns up, he has a small snack and a drink in hand. While that might be thoroughly mundane, this might take a while and leaving in the middle would be rude. Now to find a good seat..

"Aw c'mon. Just do it once man! I'm not gonna be the only one to bug you, y'know. If you don't show 'em why it's a bad idea..."

"You just want to laugh at everyone's reactions."

"Obviously." He grins. "But it will DEFINITELY have the advantage of meaning no one will ever ask you again."

After their beach day, Dyme's confidence had boosted back up again, as if it was ever that low to start with, and when he heard the announcement, well, he couldn't resist. He still didn't have a guitar, but he was working on it, seriously, and besides, he was more than capable of singing acapella.

He chose an upbeat pop song that he really enjoyed from home, and got to singing. He'd yet to choose any of his own songs to sing, but he'd probably get there. Someday. There were just so many fun songs to choose from, and he'd heard his own songs more than enough for a while.

He flubbed the lyrics at one point, but instead of being embarrassed he laughed it off, apologized, and then continued. It wasn't the first time he'd gotten lyrics wrong, and it probably wouldn't be the last; it was just a thing that happened sometimes, human error.

When he was finished, he sat back down, drumming his fingers on his knee in the rhythm of the song he'd just been singing. Of course, now it was stuck in his head.

Glorfindel applauded when the song came to an end. "Very nice! I've not heard that song before. It has a very nice feel to it, doesn't it? Was it an original song?"

"You do have a lovely voice," he added admiringly.

"Oh, thank you." He smiled warmly. People complimenting him was never going to stop making him feel a little flustered, no matter how used to it he should be. "Nah, it's another band's song. I guess I should eventually sing one of my own, huh? I've written like...four albums worth of them, there's plenty for me to pick from."

"Then by all means, please do! If not tonight, then during the next?" Glorfindel asked.

"Four albums?" Glorfindel cleared his throat. "May I ask what those are?"

[swansongs]

"Yeah, sure." Definitely during the next time, he wasn't sure if he'd perform again this time, if only because he didn't want to hog the spotlight--he did enough of that back home.

"Albums? They're like...instead of releasing songs one at a time, a lot of artists and bands write a bunch and release them all at once. Like a collection of short stories but for music." He hoped that was...a good explanation. He wasn't very good at these things sometimes. He also hoped it was the right answer.

[ Elfnein knows how fun singing is and is all for performing with others. So she signs up to sing on stage. ]

This is really only the second time I've sung in front of others but I hope everyone finds it worth wild!

[An older song starts playing and Elfnein takes a deep breath and begins the song. ]

The song ended and Elfnein took a bow.

"Thank you for listening to me."

"Oh, that was very nice!" Glorfindel clapped approvingly. "Was that an original song, or one from your world?" he asked.

[I'm going to handwave that they introduced themselves when she signed up, if that is all right? If not, let me know :)]

She had only been to karaoke once and being on stage by herself this time was a first.
