Talking to walls... and doors. Partially OTA, See headers.

Who: Najaran and Glorfindel and Minako and Webmind and OPEN (See headers)
What: A very... Najaran... way of trying to communicate with the train.
Where: Starting at luggage, going as close to the engines as they can get. And since she isn't alone, she won't be lost this time. Also, there might be signs!
When: Forward dated to Saturday the 19th
Warnings: possible violence mentions. Thread headers will contain other CW if needed.

Najaran was still upset about how they had been pulled back the mission before last. And didn't want to wear the device that could do that to her again. But Duo had gotten so angry at her... And she realized that she had to make peace with the train. And she knew how to do that....

Or so she thought.

After all, when someone wanted to make peace it was best to do that with a feast, right? And they had tons of crab and other seafood now... And she was dying to try to figure out how to make crab cakes...

Glorfindel walked into the kitchen carrying a small roll of tape. He sets it down when he sees her and walks over to where she is cutting and prepping food.

"What...exactly are you doing?" he asked.

"Making offerings," she said with a bright smile. "Don't worry, Knight and the others are watching the fire, and they have water on hand if it is needed."

"Offerings for what?" he asked as he walked over to the sink and started washing his hands.

"For the train, or if it isn't able to think for itself, for whoever is controlling it!"

Glorfindel thought about this for a moment. "That...is as good a theory as any. We'll give it a try and see if it works."

He dried off his hands and came over to her counter. "How can I help, my friend?"

"Well, I have to carry all the batter bowls once they're mixed to the garden car so I can cook them," she said, considering. So I could use help carrying. And once they're done, if you're wiling, I'd love help carrying the offerings from car to car, since it might be a bit much for me alone and Knight is too big to help with this."

"I can do that. What is it you are making and why do you need so many different bowls?" Glorfindel asked. He admitted he was more adept in tight spaces than Knight, but he wasn't exactly petite at over six feet tall.

"Crab cakes! So I need the wet crab mix, the dry breading mix, and the batter bowls."

Glorfindel's eyebrows pinched together a little. "Wouldn't it be easier to batter and bread them here, and let them set a little before taking them to the Greenhouse?" It would be even better to cook them here too, but today was not the day for that discussion, he figured. "That way you have fewer things to juggle as well. Just a suggestion of course. This is your...rodeo?" He wasn't sure about some of the slang he was picking up.

"What is a rodeo....?" she asked, confused. But then she shook her head. "It is easier to accidentally drip raw egg if they're already battered and breaded. The bowl has a cover!" She showed it off happily.

"I think it to mean, 'you are the one in charge here, in this place, at this time,' but I am not positive." Glorfindel said. "Slang terms still trip me up. All right, we willdo it your way."

"What all are you puuting in the cakes?"

"Egg, flower, crab, fish, breadcrumbs, spices, sauces, and... if I can find it maybe something creamy like a soft cheese."

Glorfindel blinked. "I usually use a...what is the word you all use?" He went to the refrigerator and pulled out the jar and read it. "Mayonnaise. It's just the right creamy. At least when I make them."

"Oh, I can try that!" she said. She opened the jar and looked in, then dipped in a knife to taste it. "Oh! That's super yummy! That'll be useful in all sorts of things!"

"It rather is," Glorfindel said. "It is quite good spread on a bit of bread with some meat and cheese. Or with a little bacon, some lettuce and tomato. Very tasty."

"It also helps to bind everything together. Otherwise everything might crumble when you try to fry it."

"I need to try all of those things!" she said, delighted.

"One thing at a time!" Glorfindel said with a laugh. "First, your mission. Later we can discuss lunch!"

"Bully," she said, teasingly, but she was laughing.
