WangJi was happy. How could he not be when the best husband he could ask for gifted him with a white rabbit. Rabbits were his favorite and he liked them. Now he had one of his own.

Of course, he wouldn't be a responsible pet owner if he didn't show his pet around the train so it could be used to the accommodations... and the fact that their home moved even though most of the time it wasn't too noticeable.

But he could easily be found around on arrival day with the rabbit safely tucked in his arms, still clearly visible so it could look around and see and greet others.

Prior to mealtime, WangJi could be found in the dining car sitting at one of the tables, letting the rabbit stretch its legs for a few minutes and look around. Yes, the rabbit was on the table, but he wasn't letting it out of arms reach just in case. Luckily, it seemed more content to just sit for the moment.

Where the rabbit was most happy was in the garden car. It had the chance to run around a bit in there and as long as it stayed away from the plants other passengers were growing, WangJi let it explore and walk on its own though he was not far away to make sure it didn't get anything it shouldn't.

"That, or he was hungry." He says wryly. "I'm the one who feeds him!"

"Hmm... that makes sense as well. The rabbits back home begin to recognize the juniors that also feed them and come to them. Of course, they always expect food or attention when I am there."

Little Rabbit yawned before snuggling up even more. It has been a long day for a small rabbit.

Aoi grooms the fluffcreature a few times and then settles down and coos contentedly.

"Yeah, Aoi is the same." He agrees. "Most of my doves are really well trained, but they're definitely food motivated!"

Little Rabbit was fine with grooming and didn't move. He still stayed there as the bird settled in with him and cooed.

"I would imagine. Animals do start to expect so I'd imagine it would be a good motivator for tricks."

"It is, yeah. Some of them prefer other things, but I guess birds are quite simple, at the end of the day, and most of 'em prefer food."

"The needs of animals are not so complex as our own," WangJi said, looking at the rabbit and bird snuggling together with a slight smile. "Food, shelter, companionship. Many are usually happy to have assistance in finding any of these."

"True! And doves are surprisingly intelligent too." He grins. "D'you know birds can recognise faces? And hold grudges, even."

"Really? I was not aware of that. I knew that animals are smart enough to recognize people. But holding grudges?"

"Oh yeah. If I piss them off, they cause massive trouble in my acts."

"Yes, I can see how that would be a problem for you."

"Right?" He sighs. "Nothing like an angry dove to absolutely ruin one of your best tricks. Never made that mistake again, I promise you."

"That happened to you? Was it Aoi or a different bird?"

"Not Aoi, thank goodness - one of the previous hatchings. I was lucky it wasn't a real show - I was just trying to show Aoko how it worked."

He pulls a wry face.

"She didn't stop laughing for at least five minutes."

"I see."

A faint smile did cross his face.

"I suppose the bird got the better of you in the trick. Back home, Wei Ying has a donkey that he named 'Little Apple' because it likes apples. It is sometimes quite finicky when he is trying to get it to listen."

Kaito laughs. "Lemme guess - it needed bribing with apples each time?"

"At least with Wei Ying. I never had problems with the donkey, but I know it didn't want to listen to him."

He laughs. "Maybe the donkey liked you better?"

"Animals do seem to behave better around me. Little Apple. Even the spiritual dogs owned by the Jin family even though they did not know me."

"Spiritual dogs? Are they like. Ghosts? Or... what's the word. Um. I dunno what they'd call it in yours. Like... a ... a summons?"

"They are similar to non-spiritual dogs as a creature. However, they are more intelligent than normal and they also tend to be able to sense danger far better. When Jin Ling was trapped, his dog Fairy came to get me and WuXian because it knew that we could help him."

"Oooh. They're magic?"

Also it's very cute that they named the dog Fairy

"In a way. They have spiritual energy as well and can do more than a normal dog because of their intelligence. Jin Ling's Fairy was able to get through the wards Qinghe Nie sect had placed on their burial site. It was a maze ward, meant to confuse those who entered it before eventually pushing them back out."

"Huh! Are they like Idenn'no-san's Pokemon then?" He asks curiously. "They sound really almost sentient."

"I don't know that I have met these 'pokemon'." The word sounded strange to him. Surely, he would have remembered it. "They might be similar. Fairy really was a credit to animal companions."

"Hm... have you seen a pink creature wandering around? That's Princess, one of her Pokemon. He's a type called a Clefairy, she says."
