A Fluffy New Friend

WangJi was happy. How could he not be when the best husband he could ask for gifted him with a white rabbit. Rabbits were his favorite and he liked them. Now he had one of his own.

Of course, he wouldn't be a responsible pet owner if he didn't show his pet around the train so it could be used to the accommodations... and the fact that their home moved even though most of the time it wasn't too noticeable.

But he could easily be found around on arrival day with the rabbit safely tucked in his arms, still clearly visible so it could look around and see and greet others.

Prior to mealtime, WangJi could be found in the dining car sitting at one of the tables, letting the rabbit stretch its legs for a few minutes and look around. Yes, the rabbit was on the table, but he wasn't letting it out of arms reach just in case. Luckily, it seemed more content to just sit for the moment.

Where the rabbit was most happy was in the garden car. It had the chance to run around a bit in there and as long as it stayed away from the plants other passengers were growing, WangJi let it explore and walk on its own though he was not far away to make sure it didn't get anything it shouldn't.

Dining Car

WuXian continues to try to be a good husband by making them some tea, and offers one cup to WangJi before taking a seat next to him with the other cup. He grins at the ball of white fluff as it continues to hop around and explore a bit.

Try? He certainly is a good husband. Even without the rabbit as a present, WangJi would never deny that. WuXian was very good to him. And very thoughtful, making him tea during his break from walking the train with the rabbit. He took the cup from WuXian with a nod.

"Thank you."

He paused a moment to take a sip of the tea, watching the rabbit for a moment.

"He seems to be enjoying exploring."

He, she, WangJi wasn't too concerned with this. It just seemed more fitting to say "he" since the two WuXian had originally gifted to him were male.

He thinks he's doing better! And WangJi's smiles tell him he's succeeding. WuXian leans against his husband, beaming happily at the thanks. And sips his tea, tearing his gaze from WangJi to watch the bunny explore.

"Mm. It's a very strange place for such a little thing. But he'll get used to it, with our help."

Greenhouse

Sitting in the greenhouse, Trowa was practicing with his bamboo flute as his cat lounged on the edge of one of the planters. He saw the long haired man come in, carrying a white ball of fluff. "Ah, you are Lan WangJi, right? I recall your wedding happened shortly after I arrived. It's late, bit you have my congratulations." He hadn't gone because he hadn't known anyone aside from Duo at the time.

WangJi wasn't exactly surprised to see someone else in there, but someone else playing flute did surprise him. Sure, other people knew how to play flute other than WuXian, but he didn't spend much time around them.

He nodded his head to show that Trowa was correct in his assessment that he was, in fact, Lan WangJi and he had gotten married. He crouched to set the rabbit on the ground so it could explore. "Thank you. It has not been long since I arrived either, but WuXian and I were married in his time."

The rabbit sat up on its hide legs after WangJi put it down, sniffing the air.

"I imagine it was a relief to be able to marry again, even in such an unusual place as this." Trowa smiled warmly, spotting the little ball of fluff. "I see you also have a pet now, what a cute rabbit." Slowly, he held his hand out so the bunny could come and sniff at his fingers if it wanted to.

She'd changed, and washed again, and was going to follow her roommates into breakfast and try to forget the previous night, some kind of terrible dream. That had been the plan. Or, it had been until she saw the tall cultivator gentleman from the platform, sat on one of the benches with a rabbit in front of him.

She twitched towards them, trying to work out how she could approach without... maybe Xue Yang was right, and her lying had been the true root of it, and she should just ask...

It looked so soft. Ironically, she was so focused on watching the rabbit hopping across the table between his outstretched hands that she stopped paying attention to where she was going, and ran into the end of a bench.

She swore.

His hearing had told him someone was there, glancing up out of the corner of his eyes to see that it was her. He said nothing for the moment, already knowing that she could see, but it was pretty easy to assume that she had seen the rabbit and wanted to pet it.

As the rabbit moved around, he kept his attention mostly on the rabbit to make sure it didn't take off somewhere else or get into something it shouldn't. Rabbits were very curious and had to chew a lot. But he looked up at her completely as she ran into the end of the bench and swore. The sudden noise startled the rabbit, but as WangJi started petting it, it settled quickly.

"Maiden, you can come over and pet the rabbit."

"Why does big brother have a rabbit?"

A good compromise, she decided, reaching down to rub at one bruised knee as she turned in his direction. Better than lying... right? Edging down the bench until she reached him was easy enough, and she clambered over so she was sat beside him. One hand curled up in her lap, but the other stretched out, hovering in front of her. Here, bunny!

Garden Car

How could he not...know...about a rabbit? Sizhui scoops the fuzzy darling into his arms, beaming at his father. He walks up to him, carefully, and pets over the rabbit's soft ears.

"Where did you find one?"

Tell him so he can find one too. This is very important. He has been looking for a rabbit friend for ages!

WangJi smiled as his son came over and picked up the rabbit, petting it.

"Your mother actually got that for me. Arrived this morning and he gave it to me as soon as he did."

Yes, he can understand that rabbit is very important. They certainly need more of them, if nothing else so this one would not be lonely by itself.

The rabbit will be surrounded by love, but Sizhui understands they also need freedom to hop and sniff. He sets the bunny down and sits by his father, adoring their curiosity.

"A wedding present?" he smiles helplessly, "If I can get one, they won't be lonely."

Just two happy bunnies in the garden! Or...one of their sleepers.

Dining Car

".... issat your rabbit, WangJi-san?" Kaito wanders in, presumably looking for food like any growing teenager, and pauses, blinking.

"It is. Wei Ying ordered the rabbit for me."

He was normally very stoic, but someone could easily suspect that he looked rather happy about having a rabbit. He did like them.

The rabbit sat up on its hind legs for a moment as it sniffed the air before it went back to walking on the table, WangJi careful to make sure it didn't go too far away.

"Huh. It's cute. Didn't know you liked rabbits." He comes closer, tapping the table to see if he can attract the rabbits attention.

"Didja keep rabbits at home?"

Garden

Nerdanel, of course, is in the garden, and she laughs in quiet delight at the small ball of fluff that comes investigating.

"Hello little one. Have a care now, my tools are sharp!"

WangJi was not too far away at least as the rabbit went up to see Nerdanel and what she was doing. It sat up as though trying to look, but when it started going closer, WangJi stepped in to move it back just a bit before kneeling down so he could better keep track of it while she worked.

"He is curious."

"As most younglings are!" She smiles. "Your husband told me he'd gotten you a present. Have you decided on a name yet?"

Dining Car

Elfnein notices the rabbit on the table and wants to take a better look at them since it's one of the first times she had an up close look at one.

"Is it ok if I pet them?"

WangJi looked up at the question and nodded. "Yes. He seems to like head pets the best."

Please come over and socialize with the rabbit.

"Is it really ok? They won't mind a head pat at all?"

She really don't want to scare the rabbit.

Greenhouse

Glorfindel was sitting in the Greenhouse, practicing his fingering on his new giqun when Lan Wangji and Little Rabbit entered.

"Hello, Otorno. Hello, Little Rabbit," he said with a smile. "Come to check out the place?"

WangJi couldn't help but notice the new instrument when he walked in with the rabbit. The currently named "Little Rabbit" began to hop around and explore when placed on the ground, including the person with the large instrument.

"We did. I thought that it would be a good place for him to go. And it looks like you have a guqin of your own."

Garden Car, evening of the 18th

Nita had forgotten to look down for one second (or so she had thought - she did have a lot on her mind these past two days), and now there was a bunny on her foot.

She didn't dare move. Instead, looking down and trying to be as polite despite her embarrassment as possible, she said in the Speech, /Good evening, little Cousin. May I please have my foot back?/

She'd pick him up if she had to, but maybe she didn't?

Yep, there was a bunny sitting on her foot. Mainly just because it was there. He was a small white bunny at least, but still. WangJi wasn't far away, not letting a young rabbit in unfamiliar surroundings explore on his own. So he was already starting in that direction seeing the rabbit sitting on her foot.

But after she spoke to him, Little Rabbit looked up at her and then moved off of her foot, looking up at her curiously.

"Good evening."

WangJi said this... not the rabbit.
