Who: Duo and... whoever!
Where: Kitchen
When: Evening of Fiddlesticks, day 17
What: Duo and Kaito made marshmallows the day before. Duo is now making a hot chocolate!
Warnings: So much sweetness!
Duo was no cook. But what he could do he did damn well!
He'd learned how to make marshmallows just so he could teach the other Gundam Pilots the joys of hot chocolate with gooey marshmallows on top. There were also smores, but he didn't think anyone would appreciate him building a fire on the train.
So hot chocolate it had to be. The tray of marshmallows had been made and cut into cute, powdered squares. Mugs had been gathered and placed beside the tray. That just left Duo to make the hot chocolate.
In front of him was a large pan he was constantly stirring, a big, cheerful grin upon his face. Inside the pan was a deliciously chocolaty liquid slowly coming to the boil.

"Hardly," Was Goligan's dry reply.
"Zeneth Dragon Eye," Najaran said, shaking her head, "Isn't exactly the fall in love sort. Let's see, the first time we met him was Soron, right Goligan?"
"Yes, on the second day of the Tournament if I recall."
Najaran nodded. "Right, because I fought Chimino and wan my first match the day before so we were enjoying the festival." She gave a small smile at that, then shook her head. "Anyway, it was like a freak storm out of nowhere. Did a lot of damage to the town."
"And your battle didn't?"
Najaran was clearly pretending not to have heard that. "So anyway, Big dangerous storm out of nowhere and there is this Cepter coming in and interrupting one of the other matches. People were hurt, and not just the competitors. He was using a spell card called Tempest. Very dangerous spell in anyone's hand. Wide range area of effect, and can be deadly." She took a breath and huffed it out. "He was about to murder one of the other duelists, and there were wounded people everywhere. It was horrible," she said with a small shudder. Thunderbeak and I went up against him to give everyone else a chance to escape if they could." And because her temper had snapped again, but there was no need to add that to the story, right?
"But before we could really get into it, the creature posing as the lord of Soron appeared on the scene and he somehow convinced Zeneth to participate in the tournament rather than just brawling in the streets. He agreed, but when he showed up to fight me the next day, the first thing he did was attack the judges and state that he was out to play dirty and take all my cards." She scowled. "We fought and he told me that Sir Owen had fought him again the night before. Owen put a shatter spell on his Tempest. When Zeneth realized that he got really angry and me and Sir Owen. Said he couldn't understand why any Cepter would risk their own lives to save other people. And how people are always just out for money and their own interests, and how people trying to be good are nieve."
She shook her head. "When I asked of people had treated him like that growing up he tried to blast me and Gioligan with an Evil Blast spell card. I'd used up my last shield protecting the crowd, so I was sure I was a goner. But Cait Sith helped us out and ate the spell!" she said, pleased and proud of her card.
She shook her head, then. "We were both too wrecked to go on. So swearing vengeance on me, he left. But he wasn't gone long at all," she said with a bit of a huff.
"His coming back may well have saved both our lives," Goligan pointed out.
She nodded. "I know,. Too bad that wasn't his intention. I'd gotten us kidnapped by the Lord of the Flies," she explained to Duo, "And a bunch of Black Cepters to boot. They wanted to make dinner of me. I was about to be chomped in half when Zeneth attacked, and kind of saved me. He said he was there for a rematch but I apparently had bigger problems than him. He flicked my head and told me he'd save me if I begged and told him he was the best Cepter." she made a face. "But then the Black Cepters said they'd eat him too. So he sent Berserker against Beelzebub. I was able to get free," she started, to be interrupted.
"She ate the leather straps she was bound in," Goligan said dryly.
"Not all of them! Just enough to get free! By the way, the bindings from a Bind spell are not yummy." She made a face, then continued. "Between me and Zeneth, the Black Cepters took the Lord of Flies and left. Zeneth wanted them to come back so he could fight them again." She looked mildly disgusted, and shook her head once more.
"I lost track of him when it started raining though."
"By raining," Goligan said, "she means that with the Black Cepters gone the whole sea that Soron was once the port of rained down on us and the town all at once. Fish, salt, and all."
She shrugged that off. "Didn't see him again for a while, not until Bisteam. He showed up while we were fighting the Dark Lord of Earth, riding a Juggernaut card, challenging me to fight him. He attacked me but missed and hit the bindings on the Dark Lord, freeing him," she said, glaring at the wall as if Zeneth would appear so she could hit him. "But I was able to convince him to help us fight the Lord of Earth. So even though it was his fault the Dark Lord was freed from the Elven bindings, we were able to do a lot of damage to the Lord of Earth. But we were still losing and it was getting bad. But Zeneth..." should she mention that he had Flame Master? Probably not. If he found out she said something to Duo or anyone else he might try to hurt whoever she told to keep his secret. "He managed to pull out something amazing at the end," she said instead. "It was only thanks to Knight and Old Willow that I survived the blast. That was scary strong, and made Tempest look like a breeze!"
She shook her head. "Not sure where he went after that, though... I haven't seen him since, but I learned more about him. My Master's friend raised him, so there has to be some good in him somewhere, right? And apparently his Dragon Eye is an actual Dragon Eye. His master fought with my Master about it, and took one of the two remaining Dragon Eye to help Zeneth when he was a baby."
She leaned against the counter and put her head on her arms. "I wonder what happened to make him the way he is. I mean, everything I've heard about my Master's friends.. how far his Master went to make sure he could see... I just don't get it."

He put his mug down and moved to reach out and rest a hand upon Najaran's shoulder. "Things can happen in a person's life, I guess. Good or bad. Things that can make the good turn, things that can make someone cruel find their humanity."
Whoops, paid ran out, please excuse odd icons
That was more than one question, Goligan looked like he was about to comment on that, but then he seemed to think better of it.

Najaran nodded a bit. "I used to almost never worry at all about anything, now it feels like I just worry all the time."

"There's your problem! What's the point in worrying about everything? Just worry about the things you can deal with in the here and now." He grinned. "Don't sweat the little stuff, Naja."
