Party Time

Who: Everyone who wants to attend.
What: It's a party for all, but the pairing up part is for singles only.
When: Day 19 of Fiddlesticks
Where: Gym Carriage
Warnings: Who knows atm just Minako being Minako will add more as things happen.

[Minako figured she did the best she could for the party. Though she also wondered if perhaps she might not have that many people come. Sure she wanted to put singles together, but at the same time, she simply wanted people to have fun.

In the dressing carriage, people will find costumes and masks that were more gothic in nature. There was food and hopefully some forms of sweet treats for those looking for it as well as a variety of drink, mostly non-alcoholic.]

Duo leaned back a little more to get a better look at Kitty when she moved around the table, wondering what she had planned to show him. When she took the step and just floated there, it took Duo a second to remember that this wasn't an illusion and she wasn't some magician doing tricks at his table.

"Holy shit! That's awesome!" He enthused and turned in his seat to get a closer look at the girls feet. "You're actually floating? Can you actually fly or... is it just this? ... I have never asked another person if they can fly before, This is wild!"

She laughed a bit, taking a few steps around while hovering over the ground. "No, I can't really fly. Even this can take a lot of concentration, and if I slip up even just a bit, I can fall. But I can control how fast or slow I move through the air."

She took a few more steps, like climbing up a couple more stairs to get a bit higher. Then she slowly descended until her feet touched the floor again.

Another low, impressed whistle and he was grinning from ear to ear. Duo couldn't get over how amazing this all was. There was magic on this train. People who could do amazing things. Kitty could walk through things and step on shit like there were real steps there!

"So that's why you go to a school, huh? To teach you how to control that more? So if you were still there... maybe one day it could seem like you were flying? You could run across the sky!"

Taking her seat again, she nodded. "Pretty much. The day I discovered my powers, it was because I had phased from my bedroom into the basement while I was sleeping. So being at the institute has really helped me with controlling and developing my powers. I definitely couldn't hover when I first got them."

She grinned. "So yeah. Maybe someday I'll be able to stay up in the air longer."

Propping his chin in his hands, Duo couldn't stop grinning. He had a million questions he wanted to ask, but he also knew 99% of them weren't going to be about Kitty and more about her world and the other abilities people had. And that just wasn't what you did when you were getting to know someone.

"I hope you can! I'm jealous, I gotta admit. Being able to do things like that... Guess it must have been scary when it gets away from you though, huh? Are there others here who can help you with developing them?" He didn't know anyone other than Danny who could move through things, and that was only because the guy was a ghost! ... It really was such a strange place to be.

"Yeah, it can be." She still had fears that she was just going to phase through the earth someday if she lost control. "But I know there's someone here who's from...a similar world to mine, I guess? He's actually familiar with how powers back home work, so I think I could ask him to help if I need to."

She couldn't imagine what kind of training she'd get from Creed, but it was nice to know that she had someone to turn to, at least.

"That's good news." Duo grinned broadly. "Nice you can maybe keep learnin more." Mainly because he was fascinated at what the limits were to a power like hers. Were there limits? She could float, so could she eventually fly? Or at least run at a height that seemed like flight? What about taking people and things, could she make those go through things? Damn but that would have been a neat power to have back when he was fighting...

"This is really amazing! I've never met anyone who can do what you do." He continued cheerfully.

She couldn't help a sheepish smile. "Thank you," she said. "I know there's someone who can...kind of do what I do? But it's done in a different way, I guess."

"Oh yeah?" Duo asked with interest. And then he blinked, thought about it, and leaned forward across the table slightly, expression curious. "... Not Danny, is it?"

"Oh, yeah," she says. "You know him?"

The grin was sudden and wide. "Oh yeah. I know him." He laughed and pushed himself back in his seat.

"Last mission I had to save his backside... twice. First time my hand went right through him. Scared the hell outta me!" Not that he'd shown it at the time. He'd needed to keep his wits about him. But finding out Danny was a damn ghost was... a weird thing. But once he'd heard his story he found it to be one of the funniest he'd ever heard. Duo still wanted to see ghost pirates.

She presses her lips together to keep from laughing. "I can imagine," she says. "I was pretty freaked out when I first discovered my powers. It can be weird for other people."

"When you come from a world like me, where this kinda stuff just doesn't happen, it's kinda weird." Duo said then, but then he started to grin again. "Luckily I'm a weird kinda guy. I love hearin about it!"

This time she does laugh. "I wish people back home were like you."

Duo laughed right along with her. More of him? Surely that would signal the end of the world? "Ohh no you don't! But..." He toned his laughter down to a smile. "Is it that bad? Back where you're from, I mean."

She hesitated for just a moment, considering. It had been such a pleasant conversation, and she hated to bring the mood down. So she answered carefully, "Let's just say most people aren't as...excited about extraordinary powers as you are."

"Nah, probably not, huh? No one likes things that are different. Things that mess with their neatly organised world where they think they know everything." Duo gave a low chuckle and propped his chin upon his hands and just gave Kitty the biggest of grins. "People like that suck. No sense of adventure, those types. Lead such boring and mundane lives. Should learn to live a little!"

She laughed again, appreciating that he hadn't let the conversation get too heavy. "I know right? They need to have a little fun once in a while."

Heavy? Duo? Heck no! There was a time and a place for that and getting to know someone wasn't that time or the place.

"Exactly! Betcha all those people would probably like you magical guys way better if they just... I dunno... got out and enjoyed themselves more! Opened their mind to the possibility that there are amazin things out there just waitin for em!"

"... Or pulled the stick outta their ass. Whichever comes first." He finished with a wide, cheerful smile.

With another snicker, she nodded. "Exactly. I mean, people can believe in Bigfoot and aliens, so why are people with powers any weirder?"

Duo let his eyes widen in shock. "What? You're telling me Bigfoot isn't real?! Damn. Always wanted to meet that hairy guy." He was trying not to laugh. Really he was. It was a losing battle.

She held up a hand, stifling her own giggles. "Hey, I never said that. I mean, if someone like me can exist, then why couldn't Bigfoot?"

She wasn't entirely serious, but then again, her powers awakening have made her more open-minded about things like that lately.

"Just as long as people don't confuse him for one of my professors. That did happen once."

Duo's hands dropped to the table and he half stood so he could lean over it. This time when his eyes widened in shock it was real, not just playing around. "Are you for real?! You had... a professor who could have been a bigfoot? No way! Now you're messing with me!" He started laughing as he dropped back to his seat. "You're pullin my leg, right? No way you have a Bigfoot as a professor!"

"I am 100% telling the truth," she replied. It hadn't been funny at the time, especially since he had been...captured by a group of Bigfoot-enthusiasts. And she now found herself hoping that Mr. Mcoy didn't suddenly show up to find out she was telling someone about this. But it was worth it for now to see him in such shock.

"That's amazing!" Duo was utterly captivated by this conversation and learning about these amazing people he would, sadly, never get to meet.

Unless someone devised a way to jump between worlds. Now THAT would be nice. Duo would jump on board with that kind of tech.
