I couldn't really put it much plainer
Who: Ignis Scientia & Little One
What: Meeting up
Where: On the train, in the dining carriage
When: After the train shaking event is over
After the events of the train had died down, Ignis had made sure he healed whatever passengers he came across. And after that business then he went back to the other place that mattered the most to him besides his room which was of course the dining carriage.
Everything was everywhere and he knew he had a long hard night ahead of him trying to put everything back to the way it had been before. Precious things like herbs and spices had been scattered everywhere and they would need to be repurchased whenever the train stopped again. This didn't even mention the broken glass that seemed to be everywhere now.
With a sigh, Ignis first made himself some coffee, which luckily that had survived. His green eyes surveyed the mess, andhe stood there with the coffee cup in hand, mentally cataloguing where to start. But then he got down on his hands and knees and began to clean glass and whatever else was broken and scattered. As he worked though, the advisor thought he heard footsteps, so he pushed his glasses up with his fingers and turned to see who was here now with him.

As it were her makeshift luggage bedroom was pretty much destroyed so she had moved back into her actual room, Tony had said she could and she woke up there every morning anyways. Moving out was hard work.
She had wandered into the kitchen to find food, sometimes people decided to bake and there were sweet things to pilfer. Except here instead of chasing off hungry looking children they invited her in and gave her cake, it was a strange train indeed.
Today she saw a man. Ignis. One of the last few people she hadn't properly spoken to yet, but someone she had seen around. He was on the floor and at first she wondered if he were hurt. She moved towards him, mindful of her bare feet and the glass on the floor. It looked like he was tidying up.
"Do you be being alright down there?"
no subject
"Please do be careful, there's spilled glass everywhere." It was half on his mind to pick this girl up and carry her to the safety of a chair if she got any closer. He could heal her certainly, but if he could prevent any injuries, then he'd most definitely rather do that.
Ignis didn't know what to make a of her asking him if he was alright, but it was charming that she would ask after a stranger's well being. "I am alright, though I do not wish to see you get hurt." And it occurred to him that she might be hungry, or bored, or both.
no subject
"You do be being Ignis right? Do you be needing help? It do be being a big mess."
She doesn't like chores but also there's no point in leaving things a mess when it was them that had to live in it.
no subject
Surprise registered on his face that she knew his name but he nodded. "Yes, I am Ignis." Here this little girl definitely had the advantage. But then the surprise abated and he shook his head. "I will clean up the glass first and then you can come over and help if you'd like."
Saying this, Ignis got up and carefully avoided cutting himself in order to get the glass under control.
no subject
She sat and watched him, apart from his name and what room he was sleeping in she didn't know anything about him. He was in the kitchen a lot, perhaps he enjoyed cooking.
Because he was dressed in Blue and it wasn't even Blue groups turn to work in the kitchen.
no subject
Ignis hadn't minded wearing the colour blue because it happened to be his favourite colour. Why that was he wouldn't divulge but he really didn't mind it.
The kitchen was the closest thing he had to home so he spent a great deal of time there whenever he had the chance. And as he'd told Noct once, his favourite part of cooking was the joy he saw on people's faces when they were eating whatever he made them.
Sweeping the glass up, the advisor paused and looked over. "You know my name, but I do not know yours. Would you mind telling me what it is?"
no subject
She wouldn't claim any of them. Too dangerous. She had almost gotten too close to Tony like that. She can't claim a name, they aren't hers to take. But if it makes it easier for people to call her things she doesn't much mind what those things are.
"Just do no be calling me brat. I do no be liking that."
no subject
And as he was silent, she spoke again and Ignis had to laugh slightly. "No, brat is a name reserved for someone else that I know, and not you." This comment of course brought the dark haired brat to mind who was now a King.
Back to the present and one thing at a time as he was fond of advising. Sighing, Ignis looked at the girl after shaking his head. "Nothing comes to mind, but as soon as I'm done here, I'll make us something to eat. Perhaps that will give me time to come up with something."
Setting his empty coffee cup down, his green eyes looked around. Maybe there was juice or milk or something he could offer her.
no subject
"What do you be wanting to be making? I can be getting the ingredients from the stores if you do be wanting me to."
She probably shouldn't let him do all the work.
no subject
He'd made the mother and child rice bowl for Tony which had gone over well. And Ignis was impressed with how stocked things were compared to what he figured would be available. So he could pretty much duplicate anything.
"Tell me some of the things you like to eat, and I'll go from there."
Her willingness to help him out, and his enjoyment of seeing the looks on the faces of the people he cooked for was the reason he was trying to get her to tell him what she wanted.
no subject
She eats anything honestly, but the sweeter the better.
The food people make here has been strange. Often the same ingredients as she knew but put together all weird. She could cook herself she supposed, if she wanted to make the things she knew.
no subject
He looked the shelves up and down and located a few of the ingredients that he was looking for. Ignis hadn't made honey cakes since Insomnia and even that was years and ago. Briefly he thought about trying to remake the Tenebraen dessert that he made for Noctis that he couldn't ever get quite right.
Green eyes continued to scan and he shook his head. "I can make a honey lavender cheesecake if that is acceptable."
no subject
"It do be sounding nice."
She definitely wasn't going to complain about food not when it was being made for her. She should probably be more careful but she's not given many people a reason to want to hurt her, only Tony. And she already knew there were no obvious poisons on the train.
no subject
"I came across the recipe back home, but I'd never had a chance to try it out myself. But now I suppose is a good time as any." He still said recipe as recipeh but that was just his accent. He'd been made fun of for it and mocked, but Ignis would always be himself.
As he worked to make the fish and carrots and cheesecake, he found some Apple juice and offered that to her along with making himself another cup of coffee.
no subject
It's strange, sat up here watching him cook. Back home she would never be allowed to be idle in the kitchen, there would always be pots to scrub or things to prepare. But it was like he had more than two arms, he was doing so many things at once. "Did you be being a cook before you did be coming to the train?"
no subject
Looking over at her as he was preparing the fish now, he nodded. "I most certainly was a chef. And I was the only one among my friends who could cook." Even if the King did have a part time job as a sushi chef, the other had admitted to him that he was 'winging it' as they cooked breakfast together one morning.
Pausing mid slice into the fish, he tried a smile at the little girl. "But I do rather enjoy it."
no subject
"I do no be minding making food. But I do be liking it better when I can be eating it. That do be being the best thing."
no subject
So he nodded at her. "Sweet are the fruits of one's own labour." He'd said as much to Noctis one morning when he was able to get the King to agree to get up early one time and make breakfast with him.
no subject
"Do you be having a favourite thing to be cooking?"
Conversation isn't her strongest skill, but she's been trained and she's practised, so she's trying.
no subject
Green eyes looked at the little girl and he nodded. "There are some things on my favourite list but I have yet to make them."
Turning around he did a few more things and came back.
"I will most certainly share with you when I do. Is that acceptable?"
no subject
She watched him silently, he was strange. Not in the dangerous way Tony was or the utterly baffling way Peter was but still. When Sami cooked she was always angry, banging pots and cursing little girls who got underfoot. The Poison Apple's food was highly regarded but the kitchen was a busy, bustling place. Sami would have never let her sit idle while she cooked.
But Ignis was calm and his words were soft. Even though he was doing lots of work, he didn't seem angry at all.
no subject
Did she read? Could she read? If not, he supposed he could..read to her once he found some books. But that would wait because food was more important right now.
Working as quickly and efficiently as he could, dinner was made. Dessert preparations had started when Ignis figured he'd broach his earlier wonderings.
"When you were back home, had you been taught to read?"
no subject
Pride was an invitation for ruin as Kant would say and maybe she should be more modest. But there's so much on this train that she doesn't know about she feels she needs to make it clear she really isn't stupid, not at all!
no subject
Different worlds meant different people which meant different abilities and aptitudes. But with her voice sounded so confident, it was definitely a positive sign indeed.
"And here I was going to offer to teach you, but it seems you already have that covered." This statement came with a smile as he got the cheesecake part together.
no subject
"Do it be needing to be going in the fire?"
no subject
But after a moment or two, he turned back around and shook his head. "No..this one requires refrigeration."
Once the crumbs were pressed in with the remaining lavender and butter, Ignis put that away to chill.
By this time, that was done, the salmon was ready as were the carrots. The little girl's earlier comment about honey had him put that ingredient into the salmon and carrots, so both were honey glazed.
Setting both on a plate, he refilled her juice and placed everything in front of her.
"I hope you're hungry." And then he went back to work on the cheesecake.
no subject
She was very hungry and this looked delicious. He had even put honey on the fish and carrots. It was the closest to food she was used to she had had since arriving on the train. She grinned a delighted smile.
Silence as a very hungry girl eats.
no subject
That gave him time to finish his coffee and get himself another cup. It also gives him time to get the cheesecake finished.
no subject
"I do be thanking you." She remembers her manners eventually. "It do be being very nice."
no subject
"I have plenty more should you still be hungry or I can save it for later. And the cheesecake should be done here in a little bit."
He couldn't even begin to say that he was impressed with her manners, but someone had taught her very well.
no subject
"Do you no be wanting to be eating too?"
no subject
"Then no more fish and carrots for now. I don't quite have the clean up capacity for an exploded little girl."
More clean up was needed after the whole cheesecake had gotten done and he nodded. "I have some set aside. I find that I'm in need of coffee instead of food right at the moment." So he turned away to get it. "How are you doing on you juice? Do you need a refill?"
no subject
She peered at her juice and shook her head, there was still plenty left. "You do be liking coffee a lot?"
no subject
Turning his eyes to the little girl now, the advisor nodded. "I've found that it's like having an old friend visit from back home."
no subject
She missed them, but it was hard enough keeping herself hidden and small on this train without further complications.
On the flip side it would be so much easier just to follow orders, to have someone here who knew things and could tell her the best course of action. Figuring it out all by herself was hard. Especially with people like Tony ready to hurt her the moment she put a toe out of line.
The one person she wanted here wouldn't come. Not ever so she wasn't even worth thinking about.
"It do be... a thing that do making you happy?" She tried to understand.
no subject
Nodding to her question, he looked at her thoughtfully. "I've certainly found that sometimes it's the small things in life that give the greatest happiness." Though to be honest if Ignis could just go home he'd be extremely happy. But then again, none of them belonged here.
"Cooking is another thing that brings joy."
no subject
She smiled at him as she sipped her apple juice. It was clear how much he liked to cook and in her opinion it made his food taste better. At least that had been some of the tastiest food she'd ever had! And the food people made on this train was already pretty good!
no subject
Turning to look into the refrigerator and then looked back at the little girl. "The cheesecake looks about ready. You saved room didn't you?"
no subject
She had little knowledge of how the fridge worked, except it was cold. Impossibly cold.
no subject
"Alright, one piece of cheesecake coming up then."
Turning around, he reached for a plate up in the cupboard and grabbed it. Fetching a fork and a knife, the advisor cut the first piece for his guest and gave her a napkin along with the fork.
no subject
It was good. Creamy and not really like cheese at all. Sweet. She grinned around her mouthful, eating happily.
no subject
And he turned back around to get some of he dinner and refilled his coffee. The next thing he did was to get his own slice of cheesecake. Coming back to the little girl, he couldn't help but smile at the blissful face he saw.
Small things indeed.
