Let's Have a Party!

Who: Everyone!
What: Throwing a party
Where: Gym carriage
When: Early Evening- early morning, Apple 28

It was three days after the incident with the train and right at two weeks since they'd been allowed to get off this train and roam a new world. Sure somewhere in there, they'd had a brief reprieve involving a new platform and mess of newcomers, but that had hardly counted as a break from the train. So, the point was, they needed a chance to blow off some steam. What better way than organize a party and roll out the last of his ale to share?

He'd recruited Sarai and Maglor to play their harps and/ or sing for music; Ignis, Ash and Evie to make hors d'oeuvres, Dread and Peter to bring in some chairs; and rigged a lamp and some cloth to make a disco ball-like display in the room (which he made Peter to promise not to touch).

Now he just had to get the guests on the dance floor... to harp music? He misses 'regular' music. Sigh.

"You don't even have to pretend because a compliment is exactly what it was." Feanor nods with a smile. He gestures to the ... well, all of the arrangements. "This was a very good idea."

"Yes, you did. Not about the innkeeper but about the world you visited," he says taking the glass. The ale is surprisingly good. The woman who made it must have had a real talent for the booze.

"But do tell me of those liquors because I'd like to hear more." Look, you can't live on coffee alone and beer is not exactly his drink of choice. The stronger stuff though. Let's just say it is true you can make alcohol from just about anything. Well, anything edible to be precise.

"I am not familiar with the term but I did travel with others on a vessel and the journey took a substantial amount of time. We found out very quickly that not everyone is comfortable being confined to closed spaces for long periods. It's beneficial to have something to occupy your mind with. Music is perfect. Food too, if there's enough of it."

They were so underprepared for their trip that cabin fever was the least of their problems. That doesn't mean it wasn't a problem. Just not a big one.

"Some are. Bourbon is not." There's a small chuckle of understanding coming. He'd love to have some wine here. Of the not horrible quality. "If you need assistance with your construction process I can help."

Praise Tony for his survival instincts. Feanor would not take kindly to anyone criticizing his son. For whatever reasons. There wouldn't be understanding for Tony's motivation anyway because he is not exactly a huge fan of parties.

"A glass container?" That's just another occasion where he feels the train is sorely underequipped. "If I had access to a proper furnace I could make one for you. I don't usually work with glass but I'm sure didn't forget how."

There is a split second glance to the window. If only he had access to a furnace maybe he could make a suitable container for the void lights. He's been itching to try since the first time he saw them. But that's it, barely a glimpse before it's gone.

"If you're going to be distilling anything you'd better get a good fit with the parts. Otherwise, not only you'll lose half of it but you're going to get everyone on the train drunk on the fumes. Just about any container won't do." This is years of experience speaking. They had to invent practically everything from scratch so Feanor has probably done all the stupid mistakes possible.

Feanor laughs.

"Eru, no! No one should let that kid get near alcohol. He can cause enough mayhem while perfectly sober. He's a good kid but I'm not keen on finding out how much more creative he can get when drunk."

That...is kind of prophetic?

"He's a kid. He'll get his share of stupid until he stops being one." These are years of experience talking. "He might make it difficult for his reason to keep up with his tongue and actions but he has a good heart. I wouldn't worry." Much. Doesn't mean he'll let Peter can get away with the said stupid.

The following question throws him off course a bit. His gaze travels to where Maglor and Sarai are playing. They look happy. He's grateful for that.

"Improving," he says, his eyes still on his son. "I hope."

Feanor nods slightly. Healthier, yes. Less of a ghost his son was when he first saw him on that platform. He'd still forget to eat but Feanor took it upon himself o make sure his son is not missing meals. The fact that there are good people on this train helps too. Having to share space with the spider is probably less than ideal and Feanor happily switched cabins with his son to lessen his discomfort. Unfortunately, the cursed tickets allow one to enter only their assigned cabin and no other. So that's, at least for now, not feasible. In spite of his earlier reservation Feanor doesn't consider the spider a threat anymore. A nuisance, yes, but he's inclined to believe she might not be that bad. Certainly not a monster he took her for in the beginning.

And Sarai has been a blessing for that whole time.

"I'm glad he has company," he says "someone to play and sing with. He loves music."

If he knew what Tony was thinking, Feanor would agree that Sarai is a beauty. A bit unusual but a beauty nonetheless. She's also a married beauty and that's a fact that matters a lot to him.

Still, the both the question and the declaration grants Tony a half-worried half-amused look.

"Oh, do you need to sit down?"

Feanor doesn't look like he was drinking at all. All the booze on the train would not get him drunk and that's definitely for the better. Too much alcohol brings the worst in him and there's a lot of worst there to choose from.

To have any educational rank in drunkenness is certainly something. To have the highest one is bordering on madness.

"You do have interesting ideas on what to do with your time, really." Feanor thinks Tony is joking but he's not absolutely certain. More on the subject of alcohol though.

"Mhm. Quite correct." There's some truth in many tales. "I'm afraid you wouldn't live to try it even if we started today. The aging process takes centuries." Does it really? Totally poker face (if he knew what poker face is). Alright. Maybe 80% of poker face.
