Let's Have a Party!

It was three days after the incident with the train and right at two weeks since they'd been allowed to get off this train and roam a new world. Sure somewhere in there, they'd had a brief reprieve involving a new platform and mess of newcomers, but that had hardly counted as a break from the train. So, the point was, they needed a chance to blow off some steam. What better way than organize a party and roll out the last of his ale to share?

He'd recruited Sarai and Maglor to play their harps and/ or sing for music; Ignis, Ash and Evie to make hors d'oeuvres, Dread and Peter to bring in some chairs; and rigged a lamp and some cloth to make a disco ball-like display in the room (which he made Peter to promise not to touch).

Now he just had to get the guests on the dance floor... to harp music? He misses 'regular' music. Sigh.

Ash gave a nod at the first comment, agreeing. She hadn't expected everyone to come together to actually put something on at this scale - she was pleasantly surprised.

"He really knows how to rally people around to get some work done." Ash was relatively certain that he didn't really have to do much convincing, but to still organize a group like this did deserve some merit. "It's a nice distraction, I think. A couple hours we don't think about why we might be here." Ash wasn't sure there was enough alcohol to make her forget.

She did take the ale from Lightning, placing the full cup in her empty one. "Thank you - very thoughtful." The discomfort was noticed, but this was something they were both a bit uncomfortable with. "Alcohol helps. Especially with this." She gestured vaguely at the proceedings - she wasn't that great at socializing.

"So I've heard." She took a fortifying sip of her own drink, trying to overcome her unfamiliarity with the taste in the spirit of the gathering.

"I was wondering," she adds, a hopefully comfortable silence later, "You're a viera, right?"

Lightning may have had a slight face at the taste of the spirit, or perhaps Ash noticed a slight hesitation in the drink - nevertheless, she commented. "It's something of an acquired taste, isn't it?" Considering where it was made? Not half bad. Ash has had worse.

It was a comfortable silence, at least. "I am." She'd probably heard from Sarai or Dread - no one else had people like hers from home. "Is where you're from predominantly humans as well?"
