Who: Tidus & You! (Open!)
Where: Kitchen car, around, where pets can be petted (or bite him)
When: Grasshopper 16 onwards (can include a few days before)
What: Tidus has a 'bet' that's less of a bet now and more 'see what doing chores consistently does for your points', but also just generally around the train too!
Warnings: should be nothing!

Tidus has an objective, first coming from a bet of 'who can get the most points!' to 'okay, but do you get anything out of doing chores than the sense of self-satisfaction of helping out the community (pffft, boriiing)'? That's what Tidus wants to do, and suuure, he really has no reason to think that chores gives you anything when he hasn't...been the best at them, but.

That's not stopping his little inner nag from wanting him to find out, and what better way to run experiments with a friendly face? Perhaps an unsuspecting one, when he comes to a Purple-clothed team and starts, with a bright and familiar face on him.

"Heyyy. You free?"

2. cleaning:

( a. kitchen ) Or maybe he's already recruited your character, they were already there to do chores, or they just happen to be in the kitchen at the time, which great! Tidus is easy with conversation, piping up with a "Hey!" to anyone that comes into the kitchen, and for those he's already with, ask, "You meet anyone interesting on the platform?", "You order anything in?", "So, what'd you think about that last mission?"

Despite this, he is trying to do as much he can think of to do: Put the plates and cutlery through the dishwashers, set them aside to be put away again; mopping the floor (and even saying to those he's partnered with beforehand, 'I'll do the floor', like it's his personal mission). And he's fine with clearing up some of the trays and bowls by hand in the sink, but he's...rather awkward about it. Minding how deep his left hand goes in, his SCA still strapped around his wrist, and doing what he can to make sure it doesn't hit the water. And maybe even looking around and seeing if there's anything he can put around it. Can he tuck kitchen roll around it...? ...he does try...

3. around

Otherwise, Tidus can be found around normally on the train. He's often trying out the sports in the gynasium, from badminton, tennis, to volleyball, and if your character happens to like to join there too, he won't be afraid to ask, "Hey, mind if I join in?"; he's on the lookout to see who's into sports, or who might be checking out the room with interest.

He also takes part in the training gym, whether in one of the group sessions or taking time in it setting up obstacles with the balancing beams, ropes, and so forth. The floor is lava and you need to run across the beams, jumping onto the climbing set and swing across the next lot! He's a monkey with too much energy. Or maybe your character is already up to something in there?

Tidus does know how to do chill however. Find him in the cinema car watching what's already playing or some dumb comedy, or even in the music car to see what tunes are available for his SCA. There's a also a chance of finding him on the upper quiet car floor, the doors closed and...he's sitting cross-legged on the floor between the couches, his eyes closed and head slightly hanging. What. Knock on the door, or leave him be?

Also, maybe he'll be checking out a random pet wandering around. Heyy there little guuuyy how friendly are you? Insert your pal [here].

( ooc: Tidus will easily approach others so if you want to set up a thread where he'd need to be the one to say hi, go for it! above is some areas where he'd be to do such or even for your character to do it first. o7 )

Quiet Car

He was looking for somewhere quiet. It wasn't that Senku couldn't tune out noise, he certainly could with his level of concentration, but it was just that he'd finally gotten his hands on a non-fiction book from the library and even though the contents were child's play, it was a novel thing to him now.

He didn't even think to peer in on who might be there before he opened the door, the noise potentially interrupting the occupant.

He took a step inside and blinked at Tidus, like he wasn't expecting there to be someone in the room, because he wasn't. Oops. "Oh."

Tidus doesn't even realise the interruption before the 'Oh', the sound of the door not as disturbing--or maybe he was just that zoned out? But it's with it that Tidus lifts his head, a small "huh?" of his own; blinking a few times, looking left (...that's a wall, Tidus) before right, and seeing legs that lead up to--

"Huh?" A guy? Tidus stares at him curiously, then through the glass doors. "What's up? Something happened? Wait--"

That last part is more mumbled as he lifts his left wrist, a SCA band around it. "Ah-- four more minutes...!"

If Senku looks, he'll see a time ticking smaller, and indeed, around 4 minutes and 32 seconds ticking down.

Senku was observant enough to pick it up, but it wasn't a function he used on his SCA. If he wanted to know how long something was meant to take, he merely counted. It was one of his many useful skills.

"No. Nothing happened." He shook his head slightly. "I didn't realize this place was occupied." He held up the book by way of explanation.

"Ohhh." Yeah, that makes sense. Tidus half-looks behind himself before bending his hands onto the seating, and then he picks himself up, sitting in the proper place.

"You wanna come in? I just need ten minutes and I'll be done. I'm," there's a pause, a sheepish hesitation and a tilt of his head, "practising meditation. Helps with energy training."

Like you can't just meditate for meditation's sake. But most people might pick a better area than stuffing themselves between two seats on the floor to do it.

"Meditation is a valuable skill." Senku replied and he hesitated for a moment and then thought, fuck it, he was invited so he stepped in to take a seat.

The textbook in his hand was the Advanced Chemistry book from the library in the standard coach, just a bit of light reading as it was.

He supposed what he did counted as meditation, even if it wasn't for a specific purpose, at least, not at the moment.

"I won't interrupt you."

Tidus catches the title of the book--he's nosy--and creases his brow a little, wondering what was even in a book like that. He must have missed that light reading (deliberately, absolutely deliberately).

"Thanks!" He folds up his legs on the seat, knees poking out, but he can fit comfortably, and he isn't in the other's guy's space. Nods to the book though, than just getting down to it. "You looking for some ideas in there, or is that for one of the classes here?"

How anyone could pass up such a valuable, excellent book subject for recreation is beyond Senku, after all one can learn so much.

"No, just reading it for fun. I already know the material covered in here. It's just the first book I've been able to read in a very long time."

Senku would admit readily that he missed books.

"First book? Isn't there a bunch in the library?"

Says Tidus, knowing that about half of them are fantasy fiction books (no, they all are) and not considering the difference in material of Senku's book in comparison. Then again, he doesn't know the regular state of the library, like how full it is on a day to day basis. He's got picky tastes in what he likes to read.

"Yeah." Senku answered agreeably, turning a page. "I don't read a lot of fiction, generally, except Doraemon." He didn't happen to see that in the library by chance, which was too bad, it was just as nostalgic at that point as reading a science textbook.

"My world doesn't have books anymore." He said by way of explanation.

...That's more of a mystery, to Tidus's ears.

"What? Just books?" But he can pause a second and figure to add: "Did something happen to everything else too?"

That might be rude to ask on a first meeting, but he sure can't help his curiosity. He's easy to distract--as seen by how quickly he's returning to his meditating.

It might be rude, but sitting before him is someone who couldn't care less about that if he tried, and the topic at hand was one that really got him excited with the mystery and everything else that came along with a very rich, world-wide puzzle.

"Yeah." Senku said, raising his head properly to look at Tidus. "Some time ago every human on the planet was petrified, putting an end to civilisation as we knew it. I can't say for sure how long it took for the planet to overtake everything, but almost every single man-made structure and technology has been completely reabsorbed by nature and degraded to the point you'd never know humans were so populous." He raised a finger. "Except for the fact you can see their stone statues everywhere, with minimal weathering, although there is some, unless they happened to get destroyed through one thing or another."

That gets Tidus to stare at him for a bit. Just stare, like the one petrified here than those in Senku's tale, in simply trying to imagine that kind of world--and the simplicity in how the guy tells it.

"Uh. So then... where do you live?"

That's? The first question he can come up with?

"Since it's been nearly four years, I tend to sleep either in the observatory or the storage hut in the village." Senku responded. "Or my lab, depending on what I'm doing, sometimes all I have time for is a nap."

He tapped his finger a few times. "Although when I came here, I was looking at sleeping on a ship for the forseeable future."

Senku leaned back a little bit. "It's a long story."

So it was some big...bizarre event that happened a long time ago, but obviously, people were still around. And living above ground or outside. Maybe?

"Yeah?" There's an incredulous note. "I mean, your whole world sounds like one long story. Anyone know why that happened in the first place? Or you just gotta hope it doesn't suddenly happen again?"

"You aren't wrong, although all of human history is technically one long story." Senku pointed out, and considered perhaps that Tidus was forgoing the rest of his meditation in favour of the questions.

It wasn't like he didn't want to oblige, after all curiosity was a wonderful thing.

"The best we can figure from all indications at the moment is that it was a weapon, likely from an enemy off the planet, although considering the limited contact we've had thus far I can't rule out it being an AI, versus an alien of some sort. The broadcast we've intercepted comes from the moon's surface, at least, based on the location and tracking it fits in with the movement of the moon and our position on the planet."

He pulled out from under his collar a thin rope that at the end of it was a device that looked like a trefoil knot. "We're calling this Medusa. Don't worry, it doesn't work. Whatever energy it takes to use, it's completely out of juice."

Meditation-who.

Tidus leans in when he shows off the necklace, not actually sure what the assurance is about until a few seconds after; looking up from the peculiar interwoven design to Senku. "Eh? What, has that got something to do with whatever turned people into stone?"

Like a smaller version of whatever was apparently on the moon? What is the deal with moons in other worlds...

"This is the weapon that caused it." Senku paused. "Well probably not the petrification event that I was a part of, but it's possible, I suppose if unlikely. I know at least once more these devices fell to the Earth over the course of history. I don't actually know where the original signal came from."

Senku had a vague direction but the planet was kind of big just to guess. It may not have even been in Japan.

"That tiny thing? A whole planet?" The idea of petrification itself isn't new to Tidus, but he couldn't imagine anything affecting an entirely planet that he knows of. "Do you have any cures for it?"

"That is the current theory, considering whatever our enemy was doing, they tried to activate it planet wide, but unfortunately for them the device was already spent. You can't make energy out of nothing."

Senku lived his life by rules like that, of course.

"Ah, actually, yes." He smiled slowly. "I've come up with something that will crack the petrification and restore people. The only barrier at the moment is resources. We were on our way to America to hopefully secure some corn to produce alcohol."

[blitzcheer]

"Hey, that's great! Sounds like you're a pretty smart guy." If he's actually the one who came up with the solution. Now who doesn't like a positive note to any story? "It's too bad you can't grab some from here to take back. It'd make getting dragged on here worth it."

"I don't know if you can call me smart so much as tenacious." Senku retorted, but that was typical for him. He always downplayed his intelligence and knowledge.

He was, in fact, telling the truth. He was a horrible liar anyway. "It took about a year, but regardless, as convenient as that might've been, we'll find a way to make it one way or another."

He wasn't afraid of an insanely long timeline.

Sounds smart to him than simply being tenacious (not that it didn't help), but hey, he wasn't going to push it. Best part was that they had a cure in the first place.

"Well I hope it goes well for your planet! Some things take a long time to change, but it's good things are looking up for everyone."

It was really a mix of both, it was hard to explain how tenacity came into play, without going into a lot of extra details.

"Yeah, we just need to gather the ingredients we need to revive everyone, and of course, travel the world to do so. It's going to take an insanely long time. Oh, and of course, go take care of the one responsible, so we'll be mounting an invasion on the moon too."

It would be fine if Tidus thought he was crazy. Everyone did.

"...You don't have books, but you have a way to get on the moon?"

If the guy and whoever else wanted to go on the moon, be his guest, but also that was a bit of a ramp up, wasn't it.

...not that Tidus thinks it's that crazy. Go after the people responsible--he could respect that. Did it himself, even!

"I have a very long roadmap to get to the moon." Senku grinned slowly, because it was the latest thing he found exhilarating about living in a desolate stone world.

"Naturally, I need to build a lot of separate components, but it's nothing I can't do with a lot of time and patience." He did say he was tenacious.

"As fun as it would be to recreate Doraemon or something, there are other pressing matters."
