[Open] Who's in a mood to give a lecture?
Who: Anyone is welcome to tell Senku he is an absolute idiot. Sometimes he needs to hear he’s ventured into ‘mad scientist’ territory.
Where: Standard Carriage
When: Horseshoe, day 3
What: Senku is determined to test the reincarnation mechanic for side effects and potential uses in a worst-case scenario.
Warnings: Suicide attempt, for science.
After what was a very enlightening discussion with Wen Qing about the fact that people had a way of coming back to life, but the exact method and variables were not really known, it seemed vitally important to understand it. It only made sense to him, that if they encountered a situation that wasn’t one they could avoid, that it was a safe alternative to end someone’s suffering as a temporary fix.
It would be foolish to rely on something like that without understanding how it worked, however, and if there were side effects – what they were and could they be offset by the benefits?
Prompt A
Senku was the kind of person who worked those around him to the bone, but he would never ever ask them to do anything he wouldn’t do first. The only logical conclusion was to, once again, sacrifice his own body in the name of science. He was relatively certain it would work, so he tried to tell himself he wasn’t worried about it.
The human mind really was horribly designed for things like this because his hands were trembling, his heart beating in his chest, and sweat running down the back of neck in a fairly typical fear response. It was only natural, humans didn’t want to die, on a biological level. The orange SCA on his wrist was beginning to make a lot of noise, flashing red and beeping loud enough that he was going to draw attention if he didn’t do it. He had his newly made stone knife leveled at his chest, having decided that seemed like the best possible option with the least amount of clean up.
He took a deep breath, and tried to steel himself.
Prompt B
With the attempt on his own life thwarted and he being neutralized, potentially even being sat on by Asagiri Gen, he was quiet a moment.
“Can I have my knife back now?” He asked dryly, holding out his hand for the tool.
Senku did not look terribly regretful, or like he’d learned a lesson - yet.

Prompt B - Gen is more than welcome to be sitting on him.
The Fear that brought her bolting into the carriage. It's one thing to feel emotions when in the same carriage, but from three away? Nope. Not ever doing that again if she has anything to say about it.

That may not have been the point, actually, but he was being intentionally obtuse.
no subject
It's firm, but there's an edge of fear in her voice echoed by the bond. For all she can compartmentalize it into the background 99% of the time...
She doesn't want to right now. She's going to be selfish.

"I'm not trying to endanger us. It's an experiment. In fact, it would be far more beneficial in the long run. It's vitally important to understand at what point the reincarnation works, and what the side effects are." Senku was going to debate it anyway.
He hadn't meant to feel so afraid, but he was human.
no subject
"Have you talked to Joss-san? He died and came back. The same with A-Quing-chan."
She's not calming down. If anything, that fear? It's now got a stream of worry joining it, and concern-for-friend. "Anyway - you were afraid. Deathly Afraid."
no subject
It’s just fortunate it’s so simple to pin Senku, Gen was no fighter.
“Because we don’t know the side effects, we can’t risk you, I *told* you,” Gen frowned and tried to sound firm instead of terrified.
He didn’t know who she was, this stranger - but he picked up her thread and ran with it, nodding in return. “And as I’ve said - it affects more than just you. You’re not the only variable.”
no subject
"The whole point is to discover the side effects. It's temporary." Senku responded to the pair of them, flicking his eyes between them.
"Yeah, well..." He looked a bit contrite at Eva's comment about how he'd felt. "I don't actually want to die or anything, but it's just an experiment. It's a physiological response. I couldn't help it."
no subject
Or slapping him, but ladies do not hit boys, no matter how much they need it.
"-to an unbonded person, yes. We do not know what will happen if only one half of a bond died. I do not plan on finding out because you can't control your impulses!"
no subject
He shook his shoulders a little. “You’re not the only variable in this experiment. I do not agree that you’re expendable and can be experimented on. But her? She didn’t volunteer for this.”
It’s dirty pool, pulling that move, but look at all the fucks Gen gave.
no subject
He moved easily with Gen's shaking, he wasn't really tense. "I'll admit I didn't consider the bond when I formulated the experiment. Hm." That meant, of course, Senku was thinking about it.
How would it be affected if one of them did die?
no subject
"You-"
She's- She's going to let Lele out, put that knife on the neo green porygon2's back, and then recall it (and the knife). Held Item Status go. "You- Are you moon-addled?! I am in no way ever consenting to be part of any experiments where one of us dies!"
Enjoy that nice spike of fear/worry/what the fuck.
no subject
“But I know you, my dear -“ Gen sounded so angry, but he’s pleading, “- you wouldn’t risk a single person for the sake of an experiment. You wouldn’t budge one millimeter toward that.”
no subject
Just because he wondered how it would work didn't mean he was willing to go that far.
"Yeah. You're right. I wouldn't do that." Senku responded, his lips pressed together.
no subject
How Gen himself might react -
“- think of her. Can you promise you won’t hurt her?”
no subject
"Of course I wouldn't." Senku said, with a bit of an incredulous tone. "Of course I wouldn't- Eva." He addressed her. "I promise i"m not going to hurt you."
no subject
"I- I believe you." It's shakey, but she does and it's back up with a firm nod and slow exhale. "I am keeping that knife until the mission, though. And if you ever do anything like this, I will slap you. And then leave you to deal with him."
And she's pretty certain Gen would not be pleased at all.
no subject
He sat back, and didn’t move to get off of Senku. “Thank you, miss Eva. I believe that’s who you are? Senku-Chan mentioned you.”
There’s a sliver of his usual, charismatic self, but Gen sounded far too shaken.
no subject
Eva would be able to feel that he was being honest.
He didn't protest her taking his knife, he just took a deep breath and exhaled it slowly as the adrenaline was leaving his body. There was not much he could do to avoid physiological responses, and he'd truly been terrified.
late with tea?
"I... I think we all need a strong drink. Tea, maybe?"
tea is the best
"Tea would be lovely, my dear. So long as it's a strong brew and not doctored with other things - I've got an embarrassingly weak constitution."
I'm a fan
He leaned in close to whisper to him.
"......Sorry."
It was incredibly rare that Senku apologized for his crazy schemes, but that apology was for Gen. He didn't need to be linked to him to see how angry he as with him.
/very late with tea :(
It's more something to talk about on the way to the kitchen than anything else, and for all the carefree face she presents, she's paying attention to the dynamics between them.
no subject
Forgiven.
Rolling off of Senku first, Gen got to his feet and offered his friend with a hand up. He smiled sheepishly at Eva. "Ah, back at our home where we were taken from - I think boys would pretend they were very manly and drink anyway. A macho type of thing. I've never really pretended to be macho at all, however."
Yet in the village, that seemed to be the general attitude.
no subject
"I think people just like to drink. I don't drink excessively, but I don't mind have one once in awhile." Senku shrugged. Then again, it was better if he was lucid most of the time.
"I don't think anyone thinks I'm macho." He snorted slightly.
SORRY I'M SO LATE. (we can work out handwave deets on plurk if you want??
"No. Just a science dork is all," Eva says with a hint of sisterly teasing before turning serious. "I rarely drink, and never.... never when it could lead back to old habits."
And she's pretty sure this would, and the last thing she wants is either boy to deal with her drunk - or for Senku to end up on Drunk Emotional Dial.
"So it'll just be straight tea."
if you want! I'm also always cool with backtags, it's all good.
