OTA with Closed Prompt - Ninja Mime 3
Who: Cassie + Anybody, with closed prompt for Trunks
Where: Cinema Car
When: Horseshoe, Day Four-ish
What: A screening of Ninja Mime 3: Mime in Time
There's less fanfare for this screening than there was for the last one Cassie hosted. She's looking for a somewhat more intimate affair, and she figures the sequel won't draw as much as the first one anyway.
Before she gets there, though, she'll be lingering outside her own cabin, waiting for a certain lavender-haired someone who is particularly invited to pass by.

He can try and tease.

"Well, only the ones that can give me the kind of fight you can. Which is...just you so far."

She squeezes his hand back and smiles as they enter the cinema car.
"Give me a minute while I set everything up. You grab some popcorn."

Not that there really was such a thing as junk food to a half-saiyan.

She sets up the screening, as well as stepping up front to explain the basic details of the film to anyone else who happens to be there.
She slides into the seat next to him just as the opening credits start to roll.

Seriously though, a ninja-mime? Then again, he supposed it wasn't any crazier than some other premises.

Rather than finishing, she shakes her head and grabs a handful of popcorn.
The opening credits are intercut with scenes of a shadowy figure being chased through a nightclub, while music so Euro-90s it hurts blares (helpfully, if redundantly, labeled "Paris, 1997" by the title card).

It can get you things like pony friends for the pony you already have. It's a miracle she didn't turn out completely ruined by it.
Meanwhile, one of the figures is revealed to be our intrepid hero. Why he is wearing makeup is unexplained, and will remain unexplained throughout the film. He's cornered the villain in a back room.
"I suppose you think I'm too late, don't you...Ninja Mime?"

It's the obvious answer.
As he is a mime, he can only nod in response to the villain's inquiry.
"You do not know the power I possess! I command the sands of time! It will NEVER be too late...for me!"
A portal opens in the wall and the villain dives in. The hero tries to go in after him, but crashes into a VERY visible wall.

The film continues. The Ninja Mime reaches into his pocket to grab his watch. His face contorts in silent, exaggerated horror as the photo of a child and his mother slowly start to fade away. Then his expression grows more shocked still as the twin coffee mugs in the back of the photo, one labeled "World's Greatest Dad" and the other labeled "World's Greatest Mime" fade away as well.
She leans in to whisper to Trunks. "Just so you know, this series is supposed to be silly. So...don't feel bad if it, uh...is."
no subject
"Oh good. I really didn't want to be insulting by finding it funny."
no subject
She smiles a bit, glad she could put him at ease about that, at least. Even if she's making him uncomfortable in...other ways.
And so the film progresses. The hero returns to his master, desperate and confused. He appears to know little of his plight. But together, they piece together the solution. The villain has traveled back in time, and means to erase all that the Ninja Mime holds dear - his family, and the art of mime itself.
It will take a great effort on his part. The art of mime is an ancient one, dating back as far as Ancient Greece. But it was France that perfected it, from the Middle Ages to the modern day. He must travel to medieval France and confront him there, while the miming techniques still exist to allow him to do so.
That one can travel back in time using mime is simply taken as a given.

IT was weird though, as a 'mime' so far mostly reminded him of a silent Chao-Tzu. He might have to ask for more details later. "The physical acting is impressive." Trunks whispered--he could appreciate that at least and how difficult it had to be.

Most of the talking here is done by his master, whose repeated exhortation to "Mime back time!" is answered with the hero miming the backwards turning of a clock.

Who continues to wear a goofy, vaguely constipated expression on his face as he continues to mime back time over a swirling Mr. Peabody time vortex. De Gaulle, the World Wars, Napoleon, Louis XIV - all the history this film's financiers and core audience care about.
Until at last, he materializes on the ramparts of a castle.
