Who: Kitty and Open
Where: Medical carriage
When: Horseshoe 21-24
What: Kitty takes a few days to recover after the most recent happening on the train
Warnings: Probably nothing, but will update if anything comes up

Kitty wasn't sure when it happened exactly - between seeing Professor Xavier and the others out in the void, all the ghosts of people on the train, and some additional distress crashing over her that wasn't even really hers, there had been a lot going on. In a bit of a panic, she retreated by herself, and the next thing she knew she was being awoken by Inigio, who had to help her to the medical carriage because she'd been barely able to move.

Which is where she would spend the next few days recovering, her body still feeling rather weak no matter how much sleep she'd get. She does regain her strength eventually, though having some visitors come see her would probably help too.

She doesn't even remember how it happened. One moment she'd been trying to find someplace quiet to calm down, and the next Inigo was waking her up and helping her to the medical bay. She had been in and out consciousness since then, and this was probably the most awake she's been since he found her.

"It's more comfortable, at least," she manages to joke, though the words are spoken barely above a whisper. Her body still feels really weak, and she could feel the exhaustion at the edges of her mind, ready to pull her back into sleep once again.

He laughs. He's trying to make sure that it's not too loud, in case it might be uncomfortable for her in this state, but it sounds very much genuine. Inigo is just trying to make things seem just about as normal as they can be, hoping to put Kitty a bit more at ease.

"Yes, you're right. You're lucky, I wish I was the one lying down!" He's obviously joking though, and a moment later he's already reaching over to grab a plate with some food that he grabbed earlier when she was out for a bit.

"Here, you should eat some though. Just a bit. It might give you some more energy again."

Normally she would have questioned how he was doing or feeling, so it was a testament to how tired she is that she doesn't say anything about it. Instead she closes her eyes, and for a moment it looks as though she's gone back to sleep.

"...you might need to help me sit up," she admits, her voice still soft.

"Can do," he easily says. Though his actions are more careful than his light, carefree words are. Thankfully he's close enough to Kitty that he doesn't feel too awkward about physical contact with her, despite her being a girl - so he carefully tries to move his arm under her back, then using it to help her sit up. Still slowly, making sure that she doesn't sit upright too suddenly and passes out.

"There, just keep leaning against my arm, alright? I don't mind." Inigo smiles. "Do you think you can keep sitting like this for a few moments? Just enough to eat some. Then you can lie back down again, as much as you want."

She can't help a slight groan as he helps her sit up, feeling a dull ache in her body from even the slight shift in movement. She leans on him a little bit and takes a few breaths.

"Thanks," she manages after a moment. "Actually...could you help put some pillows behind me to help keep me sitting up? I don't think I'll wanna lie back down after eating."

That's a little harder to do with one arm still supporting her, especially since Inigo knows there's no way Kitty is going to stay up without it in her current state. So he nods, and even though it takes a bit more effort to bend his upper body enough to grab the pillows with his free hand, he manages. He makes sure to grab a few so she's propped up well enough before he pulls away the hand across her back. There, that should be comfortable enough.

"Are you feeling sick? Or just lightheaded?"

She breathes another sigh as he eases her down on to the pillows. "Thanks," she says softly. "I don't really feel sick or anything. Just...really tired."

"Well.. Thankfully that should pass then, sooner or later."

Hopefully, anyway. You can't ever quite be fully sure about anything on this train, can you? There's always the chance that this fatigue is something more than just regularly feeling tired. But Inigo wants to show outward optimism. He can keep his worries to himself - and can just keep watch over her, at least for the rest of today.

Inigo gives her a hopefully reassuring - and very slight, he doesn't want to knock her over in this state! - pat on the arm.

"Is it since you stared out into the void? Or don't you remember?"

"Hopefully." She didn't seem too worried about being so fatigued, but she does appreciate his show of optimism in any case.

"Maybe? Everything did kind of get a bit fuzzy after a while."

He nods.

"I kind of feel dizzy when I look at it too.." Especially for longer than a few moments. So who says you wouldn't just outright pass out if you looked at it for too long? And Inigo knows the temptation is there to look out of the window for a little too long today - maybe Kitty saw someone out there. Someone she misses.

That thought tugs a little at his heart, and after a slight moment he takes a very, very gentle hold of her hand. Gentle enough that she could wiggle it right out, even in her energyless state.

"But, hey, no void windows here! So you should get better in no time. And you've got some great company right now, right?"

If he asked, she would admit that she had seen someone she misses. Several someones, in fact, which just made it hurt a little more. But as he takes her hand, she manages a smile and nods.

"Yeah, that's true." She pauses, then after a moment adds, "I'm glad you're here."

Really, it's not that strange to hear. Of course she'd be glad to have company right now, isn't it only natural?

But Inigo, being as naturally bad with compliments as he is, can't help but dip his head for a moment, a blush starting to crawl up his cheeks.

"Ah, well.. No one should be alone right now." Not in this situation. And Kitty even more so, since she's also not in the best physical state now. "It's not like I couldn't use some company either."

She manages a soft laugh. "Yeah. I'm sorry I probably won't be the most fun company right now, though."

She's still tired, and even just holding a conversation was more difficult than it should be.

"Are you kidding me? You're fun in any situation."

And while that might sound like empty flattery just going by the content of those words, there's something about Inigo's smile that makes it seem so real. Just something so genuinely happy to be around Kitty.

"Trust me, staying here with you? It sure isn't a punishment for me. And if you need anything at all, just let me know, and I'll go fetch it right for you! Like your loyal lapdog!"

He pauses, seeming to realise how that sounds, and then quickly adds, "A very, very cool lapdog." Nailed it.

(He still sounds like he's 70 years old whenever he says the word cool.)

Had it been anyone else, she definitely would have though he was just saying that to make her feel better. But something about Inigio made it hard to doubt his words, at least when it came to other people.

So she smiles and manages a small giggle. "Thanks. I really appreciate that."

(They'll...still have to work on his 'hello fellow kids' lingo.)

"No problem."

His smile grows a little less wide, but it's still very much visible.

"Do you think you maybe want or need to sleep some more?"

She shook her head a little. "Nah, I'm tired of sleeping. I'd rather stay up a bit more."

Even if it looked like she still needed the sleep.

Inigo is quiet for a moment, weighing that information. It's true, Kitty still doesn't quite look like herself again. But on the other hand, it's not like she isn't going to be able to have plenty of sleep later, right?

It should be fine. She can catch up on it. So Inigo just smiles and nods.

"Alright! Then stay up. Let's talk instead."

With a small smile, she nods. "Yeah. That's good."

Even if she does more listening than talking.
