Who: Kitty and Open
Where: Medical carriage
When: Horseshoe 21-24
What: Kitty takes a few days to recover after the most recent happening on the train
Warnings: Probably nothing, but will update if anything comes up

Kitty wasn't sure when it happened exactly - between seeing Professor Xavier and the others out in the void, all the ghosts of people on the train, and some additional distress crashing over her that wasn't even really hers, there had been a lot going on. In a bit of a panic, she retreated by herself, and the next thing she knew she was being awoken by Inigio, who had to help her to the medical carriage because she'd been barely able to move.

Which is where she would spend the next few days recovering, her body still feeling rather weak no matter how much sleep she'd get. She does regain her strength eventually, though having some visitors come see her would probably help too.

Not seeing one of her roommates the next morning gave Nita (and subsequently her mindbond partners) a flash of panic - even seeing that Kitty's name wasn't in gold didn't provide immediate relief.

~~She couldn't be there for everyone. It simply wasn't possible. That didn't mean Nita didn't hurt over it.~~

But she forced herself to go through her normal routine... at least until breakfast, when she elected to make an extra serving of eggs-and-pancakes and bring those down to Medical.

The relief she felt on finally tracking down the room of her roommate-and-friend was palpable, and she set the plate of food down on a convenient mini-table.

"Hey, Kitty. Brought you breakfast." She had questions, including Are you all right?, but she kept those pinned for now.

He'd heard that Inigo had taken Kitty to medbay from the guy himself. A few people were being taken all over the train yesterday, but Kitty's relocation had Tidus worried, if relieved to know it wasn't serious (presumably).

At least he knew where to check up on her the next day if she was even still there - which it turned out she was. And that's a little worrying, but it doesn't ruin the smile Tidus enters her room with after a knock on the door, standing at the end of her bed.

"Hey. How you doing?"

He speaks fondly, testing the waters. Yesterday was rough for a lot of people, after all.

Even though she had slept through most of the previous day, Kitty still felt exhausted. She could barely even sit up, which was why she was propped up with some pillows in the medical bed.

Still, when she spotted Nita she offered a weak smile, and when her stomach rumbled she realized just how little she'd eaten yesterday.

"Hey," she said softly. "Smells good."

She'd been lightly dozing when Tidus walked in, despite how tired of sleeping she was. Still, it felt like it took a lot of effort to open her eyes, and even more to smile.

"Really tired," she answered honestly. "But I think I'll be okay."

"Eat up," Nita suggested. "It'll help you feel better."

Or at least warmer.

"... You want to talk about yesterday? Or something completely different?"

Kitty gets to choose the topic-slash-direction here. Was today for distraction, or for trying to figure things out?

"But food comes first."

"I hope so!" Lightly, but still joking, keeping it from being too serious. He wants to ask her about yesterday, but--he should wait. Not right now.

"You want anything from anywhere? Food, books-? Or you planning to get back to sleep?"

"...Ms. Pryde?"

Mami is here, volunteering as medical staff as usual. She has a slice of pizza on a plate.

"I brought you something to eat."

Maybe it was exactly because Inigo didn’t want to focus on what he could see out of the window, or the ghosts of certain people who left the train haunting him every single time he was by himself, but he ended up focusing much more on other people than himself during everything that was going on.

And that was exactly how he found Kitty - somewhere all by herself, practically having collapsed. Of course there was no way he’d leave her alone. He’d take her along to a better place no matter what he’d have to do for it.

Thankfully he at least managed that much. But his worries about her don’t end there, not enough that he could just leave her by herself and not worry about it.

So here is now. Kitty on the bed, Inigo sitting next to it, trying to make sure that all that shows on his face is a smile and not the worry that lies underneath it.

“Feeling a bit better now you’re lying down?”

Trunks had apparently weathered the storm's visions better than most, and he was grateful. But it meant he also wanted to check up on others, and pick up slack where he could. Which was part of why he was poking his head in to see if Kitty was awake and welcoming visitors. He also had a tray with him with food and drink on it.

"Feeling okay for a brief visit? Maybe eating?"

It had been a strange time for Allen, but after it he had never really felt as good as he had this time. As much as it had been painful it seemed like this incident had been good for him in the long run.

So when he came to see his friend, his body language was different than usual, a little bit more open.

"I heard that you were here and I wanted to check on you."

It took her a moment to push herself up a bit more, so she could balance the plate of food on her lap. Nita's question had her hesitate a bit though, before she shrugged.

"I dunno...I'm not sure there's really much to talk about."

She shakes her head a little. "I'm tired of sleeping. That's all I did most of yesterday."

After all the freaking out, anyway.

"I...could use some water though, if you don't mind."

She'd chosen to keep sitting propped up in bed, hoping it would help keep her awake a bit more. Instead, she found herself dozing while sitting up, though luckily it was a pretty light sleep most of the time. At least light enough that she would rouse when someone would drop by.

So, hearing her name being spoken, she opened her eyes and glanced over.

"Thanks," she says with a weak smile. "Just 'Kitty' is fine, though."

Ah, water? Tidus points a thumb over his shoulder. "Lemme see what they've got."

And he'll leave just for a short while, returning with a glass that he holds up after closing the door, walks over to give it to her.

"They said about a jug, but hopefully you're not that bad, huh? Everything seems okay now. No window visitors, no weird... memories walking around. Just a lot of clearing up and people going through the headache medicine. And whatever other plans everyone had going on."

She doesn't even remember how it happened. One moment she'd been trying to find someplace quiet to calm down, and the next Inigo was waking her up and helping her to the medical bay. She had been in and out consciousness since then, and this was probably the most awake she's been since he found her.

"It's more comfortable, at least," she manages to joke, though the words are spoken barely above a whisper. Her body still feels really weak, and she could feel the exhaustion at the edges of her mind, ready to pull her back into sleep once again.

Kitty had been reading a little when he walked in, though it was a bit difficult to entirely focus. Though she was feeling a little better than yesterday, she still felt pretty drained.

Still, glancing up from the book, she smiled and placed it aside as she nodded.

"I'm pretty good for both," she replied.

Glancing up from her book, Kitty offered a smile.

"Thanks," she said, genuinely touched. "I'm doing all right. I'm glad to see you're okay too."

She hadn't seen much of him since their talk in the music carriage, so she was glad to see him.

"Thanks," she says as he hands her the cup. She listens as she takes a sip, grateful for the cool liquid soothing her dry throat.

"Thank goodness everything's cleared up," she says as she puts the cup aside. "Everyone else is doing okay?"

Did anyone else end up like she did?

"I think so! I mean..." Is there anywhere to sit? Either way, he'll lean back, arms folding, a slight slant to his mouth. "It had a different effect on everyone. Spider was taking people to the dressing car, and plenty were keeping to the games car. It wasn't so packed with people not-there when it was packed with people that were. Not nice though, for the people missing friends who left recently..."

There was a chair by her bed, since she'd gotten plenty of visitors coming to see her. With a frown, she nodded. "Yeah, I can imagine how difficult it must have been for some people."

"Nothing weird happened to you though, right? You just...looked out the windows too long?"

He asks it, just to cautious. Tidus knows how she was found, but hopefully there wasn't actually something more to it, right?

"That's good to hear." He was more glad she was okay than him being okay really... but that is kind of what Allen is like in general.

"Of course I would be...I mean...as odd as this situation was... it was a good thing for me. Not so surree for other people though."

Nita let herself lean against the wall, settling slightly.

"Got a point, there. It was all past stuff, even for all the meaning it holds for us."

There weren't exactly new lessons to be learned, there.

Entering more fully, Trunks offered the tray carefully so he wouldn't spill anything. "I'm glad to hear it. How're you feeling?"

"Or things we can't be sure of until we're able to find a way home."

That had been the worst thing, to her. Seeing the Professor and the other X-Men in the Void, seeing that they were all okay, but not being sure if it was real or just something she want to see.
