Where: Various decorated carriages!
When: Horseshoe 31.
What: Della is hosting a Halloween party! Come for treats, tricks, and trouble!
Warnings: N/A, will update it needed.

The room is dark…why aren’t the lights on? But as the doors fully open, a voice begins laughing darkly…

… although if you’ve ever heard the voice of Della Duck, you’ll recognize her immediately.

“Boys and girls of every age, wouldn’t you like to see something strange?”

Suddenly there’s a big THUD as someone drops from the ceiling, the lights flash on, and Della herself, dressed as a zombie – ripped apart clothes, fake blood here and there, drawn on scars - wiggles her fingers before laughing joyfully. “Happy Halloween, everybody! Let’s party!”

Tasty Treats

A big buffet table of candy and punch has been laid out! Mini chocolate bars and multi-colored lollipops, gummy worms and candy corn, all sorts of sweet and sour shenanigans, ghost-shaped cookies and mummy-looking muffins! There’s plenty to eat, with absolutely no healthy alternatives.

There are also small wrapped bags of candy with the letters “T.o.T” written on them. If someone tells you, “Trick or Treat!” you have to share your candy! Or keep it to yourself, you monster.

Haunted House

Thanks to Seto Kaiba’s projections, a neighboring carriage has been converted into a Haunted House! While it’s all a trick on the eyes, it gives the illusion that there are several floors of spookiness. Each floor has a different theme –

#1 Serial Seriousness – Every so often, a masked intruder pops out at you, with long claws or chainsaw, ready to give chase! Be careful, or you’ll be the next victim!

#2 Zombie Zaniness – Moans and groans of the undead can’t be unheard. Rotting arms will try to swipe at you through the floorboards!

#3 Ghostly Games – You can see through them, and they can see you too! Each mirror reflects a different dastardly demon!

#4 Deadly Doctors – In this hospital, it’s not the awful health insurance that’ll kill you! Beware the bloody nurses and their extra big needles!\

#5 Fishy Fears - … Wait, what? … Okay, this last floor was clearly designed by Della. It’s like Under the Sea, but with sharks and octopi and kraken - and Della insists this is the worst floor.

Feel free to have your characters braving the house, or trying to scare people within!

Dance Floor

If being haunted isn’t your thing, nothing wrong with getting your groove on! Ask DJ Della what kind of song you’d like to play, and she’s happy to put on the list, from a classic Monster Mash to something more somber and soulful for you slow-dancing-romantic-vampire-types.

Turnip Carving
… Look, they didn’t have pumpkins. Anyway, you’re encouraged to carve scary and silly faces in these veggies! There is a contest, but everyone will be a winner, from “Most Realistic” to “Most Depressing” !

Movie Mania
Kick back and relax – and be horrified – at the otherworldly horror films! Like the horrific monster mime, “That”, the relentless umpire-mask wearing killer, “Monday the 20th”, and the endless array of the undead, “Midmorning Of The Not Wholly Alive”!

Some of you awful people might be thinking of popping up and scaring the theater-goers and this is /winkwinknudgenudge/ totally not approved. /plausible deniability/

In one secluded, quiet, and verrry dark carriage, lit only by candles, here you are encouraged to tell the scariest stories you can think of! What eerie legends will you share from your world, or do you dare to make it up as you go along?

[The one good thing in this movie's favor is that it's poorly shot; the scene-shifts are more jarring than the jumpscares arranged by the medical man.

Alfredo looks very puzzled.]

... Where's the boat? Or, did they ride to the cabin instead?

[That panning shot over the empty dock had been very concerning, okay?]

Um...

[ The obvious solution - that maybe something grabbed it and got rid of it - does hang in Madoka's head for a moment, but she doesn't want to think of that too hard right now. It's scary! ]

M-Maybe they just didn't leave it at the dock?

CW: fake severed head mention?

Or they have one of those 'garage'-like spaces for it, instead?

[Meaning it's under more shelter than just a tawdry tarp- oh, no! What was that noise?

Alfredo flinches, more at the music than the clearly-prop-even-in-universe severed head... though he jolts back in his seat once he properly registers that, too.]

And where did that come from?

[But then, maybe modern-day doctors had fake replicas of everything, for use in model surgeries...]

[ Alfredo may only wince.

But Madoka? Madoka properly shrieks the moment she sees it, no matter how fake it looks. She just can't help it.

At least she does quickly clasp her hands in front of her mouth, feeling rather embarrassed and impolite, but the deed is already done at that point. ]

S-- Sorry, I.. I just thought it was real...

[Alfredo tries to cover up his own upset, for Madoka's sake.

They really are two peas in a pod that way, aren't they?]

It's- it's okay, to be scared I mean.

It's definitely scared those teenagers!

[Though they look more unsettled than outright panicked - for now.

Because the medical man has other plans...]

[ He definitely does, huh. And the true nature of the movie is becoming more and more clear too now, with the outright shots of the serial killer stalking outside of the house. ]

I.. I think I'd be really scared too in that situation..

[ It's the understatement of the year, and Madoka sits a little ducked in her seat as she watches the screen.

She's quiet for a few moments, just watching as the scary music starts to grow louder.. ]

A-Alfredo, is it.. okay if I hold your hand..? [ Just because it's so scary! She needs the comfort, even though - with Madoka being Madoka - she's asking for it very, very shyly. ]

[Alfredo nods grimly, briefly checking if the nearby seats are already taken...

The ones on his side are. Drat. But never mind that for now; his focus returns to her, and more reluctantly to the movie.]

Of course, Madoka. It's no trouble.

[They could both use the reassurance.]

[ Even with his permission, she still hesitates a little. It feels a little childish, especially since she's the - slightly - older one here. Shouldn't she be better than this? More mature? More able to handle it?

But when the scary music starts growing to a crescendo, she can't help it. Out of sheer instinct she grabs onto his hand, squeezing it for dear life, like he's here to save her from the actual serial killer rather than just the movie.

She can't even say anything, too worried about the fates of the poor teenagers in the movie! ]

For their sake, we should make this a movie where no one dies.... SHOULD. But will we? XD

[Madoka may be somewhat surprised to find Alfredo squeezing back just as hard, eyes fixed to the screen.

One kid disappears, having done the normally-smart thing and gone to call for aid - unfortunately he is the only one with a phone.

That there's anything wrong about this goes over Alfredo's head - not least because the medical man has made his next move: teeth, carefully placed under everyone's pillows!

This would be more mundane if they weren't all sharp teeth... like that of a predator.]

LOL yes let's make it all have been a fake out somehow and there's just a happy ending

O-oh no.. Why are they splitting up?

[ Madoka understands the implications here, at least, a bit better than Alfredo. But considering the fact she isn't exactly someone who likes to watch horror movies, she doesn't realise that the Necessary Splitting Up is just a trope in play. ]

Isn't it better to stay together to be safer..? [ Especially with that scary guy putting all those teeth everywhere! ]

Everyone else is shocked, these two are relieved; let's DO it! \o/

I think he went to get help...

[But now, what's this? The oldest girl in the group has disappeared - there is another ominous shot of the house keys, which she was in charge of.

And then, when the rest of the group runs outside (together, thankfully), there's ANOTHER scare chord as they run across a hanging group of masks!

Doctor's masks... Or are they nurses' masks, one of the remaining teenagers jokes faintly.

Alfredo squeezes Madoka's hand again.]

Not sure what that was supposed to mean - what do you think, Madoka?

[ But you never go to get help by yoursef, Alfredo! Not in a dangerous situation! This is why we have the buddy system!!

Madoka is now totally trying to cover up her face with her free hand, only watching the movie through the slits of her fingers. It's too much. ]

U-um, maybe he's still trying to scare them.. [ With all these odd, medical-themed things. ] I-I hope he isn't waiting for them outside.. They should quickly run away!

Whatever's going on, it doesn't seem very safe there...

[At least there's no blood spilled?

In any case, the teens pool their resources and decide to camp by the docks overnight while they wait for the boat to return - apparently some other cabin down the river decided to rent it or something?

It's very suspicious, but at least they're not splitting apart further.]

[ Madoka looks a little uneasy as she watches the teens gather on the dock like that.. ]

Do you think they'll be safe? [ She whispers to Alfredo. And while Madoka would usually already whisper during a movie to be considerate towards the other people around them watching it as well, this time it's more because of the sheer tension that this moment in the movie is creating. ]

Maybe another round or two before the SURPRISE movie ending?

... I don't know.

[The last movie he'd watched like this, everyone had died at the end - though the monster haunting them HAD been defeated.

Not that he wants to mention either, just now. It was all rather sad, with all the death.]

I can't say I'm good at predicting these, though. I'm sorry.

[That last part is a very quiet whisper - someone just knocked one of their lanterns into the water!

The medical man, however, makes no appearance. But, what could all these suspicious shots of the house with the windows being shuttered and curtained-off mean?]

[ At the very least Madoka doesn't seem to blame Alfredo. Of course she doesn't. It's not like she's much better at predicting these sorts of things - and even if she was, she wouldn't want to think of such a sad ending! Surely everything will be okay in the end somehow, right? Would they really show such a sad movie here during a party?

So she shakes her head, mumbling 'it's okay' at him under her breath. (Still very much clinging to his hand, too. She needs it!)

After that she goes quiet though, just staring at the screen, not wanting to be caught off guard by a jump scare if the medical man suddenly returns! ]

[With a quick jerk of a nod, Alfredo lets the movie keep playing. Not that he's anywhere near close enough to the ICP to stop it, really...

The next scene is the next day, with the boat arrived - but no one in it.

It's played as a sort of inverse jump scare: if the boat is there, but no one saw them return, then where'd the person go?

The temperature drops with a sudden gust of wind, and everyone rushes back towards the house...]

[ Why is it getting so omnious, please!!

If Madoka wasn't the polite sort of girl, she may have abandoned the handholding in favour of just bodily clinging to Alfredo altogether at this point. It's just so scary! But no, Madoka is not the type of girl for it, so instead she's just gripping his hand as tightly as she can. ]

H-He's not going to be there, is he? [ But he must be around - who else would have brought back the boat?! ]

I think so- unless he was using a road or something?

[Alfredo sounds quite confused on the matter himself - but, once everyone gets back to the house...

It's clean. It's homely. And the previously-missing teens, the one with the phone and the oldest girl, are both there and trying to suppress laughter.

And there's something about one of the kids celebrating a successful surgery???]

What?

.. What?

[ Talk about a x2 what combo over here. Madoka suddenly stares at the screen so blankly, dropping the hand she was half-holding over her eyes. Maybe she should be a bit more wary, or expect yet another jumpscare, but..

What. Just what? This is so confusing. ]

They're all okay..? [ Not that this is a bad thing! It's just.. very confusing!! ]

... The fake head pops up again after the credits, maybe? But it's still obviously fake..

[The medical man is apparently one of the kids' parents; any 'spooks' were intended to scare the kids straight on taking careful note of their own health...

Alfredo can only shake his head.]

I think so. Though I'm not sure where that head went. The fake one.

[It's absent in these closing scenes, though perhaps that's for the best.]

Ah, actually.. I think I'm fine with not knowing...

[ Especially if the movie somehow turned out well. Then she can at least be happy about the ending and try to forget about any spooks that happened along the way--

Until the head suddenly rolls across the screen in the middle of the credits, startling Madoka enough to jump up slightly in her seat before realising what happened. ]

G-Geez, I can't believe I fell for it twice.. [ These movies are not for the faint of heart. Like Madoka. The faintest of hearts. ]

[Alfredo shudders, and there's a moment where if Madoka looks, she'll notice he's blocked his eyes outright.]

If you did, then so did I...

[He admits, with no small amount of self-criticism. None of that is directed towards Madoka, however; it's not her fault.]

But, all told - I'm glad it's over.

[ Thankfully she wasn't the only scaredy cat kid here, huh.

Though honestly, Madoka would have prefered for poor Alfredo to not have had to suffer through this as well.. He's so sweet! He doesn't deserve having scary movies like this forced onto him! ]

Me too.. [ She lowers her voice, as if she's afraid of offending any of the people around them if they'd happen to overhear this. ] I don't think I'd like to see another one...

[Alfredo tilts his head and, after a moment's consideration:]

We don't have to stay here - maybe there's something we can help out with in the rest of the party proper?

[Though his side of the aisle IS still full - but if Madoka is looking for an appropriate excuse, she has one now!]
