it's halloween, lo-ween, everybody!

Who: Everyone's Invited!
Where: Various decorated carriages!
When: Horseshoe 31.
What: Della is hosting a Halloween party! Come for treats, tricks, and trouble!
Warnings: N/A, will update it needed.

The room is dark…why aren’t the lights on? But as the doors fully open, a voice begins laughing darkly…

… although if you’ve ever heard the voice of Della Duck, you’ll recognize her immediately.

“Boys and girls of every age, wouldn’t you like to see something strange?”

Suddenly there’s a big THUD as someone drops from the ceiling, the lights flash on, and Della herself, dressed as a zombie – ripped apart clothes, fake blood here and there, drawn on scars - wiggles her fingers before laughing joyfully. “Happy Halloween, everybody! Let’s party!”

Tasty Treats

A big buffet table of candy and punch has been laid out! Mini chocolate bars and multi-colored lollipops, gummy worms and candy corn, all sorts of sweet and sour shenanigans, ghost-shaped cookies and mummy-looking muffins! There’s plenty to eat, with absolutely no healthy alternatives.

There are also small wrapped bags of candy with the letters “T.o.T” written on them. If someone tells you, “Trick or Treat!” you have to share your candy! Or keep it to yourself, you monster.

Haunted House

Thanks to Seto Kaiba’s projections, a neighboring carriage has been converted into a Haunted House! While it’s all a trick on the eyes, it gives the illusion that there are several floors of spookiness. Each floor has a different theme –

#1 Serial Seriousness – Every so often, a masked intruder pops out at you, with long claws or chainsaw, ready to give chase! Be careful, or you’ll be the next victim!

#2 Zombie Zaniness – Moans and groans of the undead can’t be unheard. Rotting arms will try to swipe at you through the floorboards!

#3 Ghostly Games – You can see through them, and they can see you too! Each mirror reflects a different dastardly demon!

#4 Deadly Doctors – In this hospital, it’s not the awful health insurance that’ll kill you! Beware the bloody nurses and their extra big needles!\

#5 Fishy Fears - … Wait, what? … Okay, this last floor was clearly designed by Della. It’s like Under the Sea, but with sharks and octopi and kraken - and Della insists this is the worst floor.

Feel free to have your characters braving the house, or trying to scare people within!

Dance Floor

If being haunted isn’t your thing, nothing wrong with getting your groove on! Ask DJ Della what kind of song you’d like to play, and she’s happy to put on the list, from a classic Monster Mash to something more somber and soulful for you slow-dancing-romantic-vampire-types.

Turnip Carving
… Look, they didn’t have pumpkins. Anyway, you’re encouraged to carve scary and silly faces in these veggies! There is a contest, but everyone will be a winner, from “Most Realistic” to “Most Depressing” !

Movie Mania
Kick back and relax – and be horrified – at the otherworldly horror films! Like the horrific monster mime, “That”, the relentless umpire-mask wearing killer, “Monday the 20th”, and the endless array of the undead, “Midmorning Of The Not Wholly Alive”!

Some of you awful people might be thinking of popping up and scaring the theater-goers and this is /winkwinknudgenudge/ totally not approved. /plausible deniability/

Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark
In one secluded, quiet, and verrry dark carriage, lit only by candles, here you are encouraged to tell the scariest stories you can think of! What eerie legends will you share from your world, or do you dare to make it up as you go along?

Make your own top-level, and happy haunting!

Also, if your character would like to dress up, costumes are available for this night only!

He pauses just before putting a couple more pieces of candy corn in his mouth, "Sugar high? Does that really happen?"

Xue Yang isn't sure that he would be capable of being hyper from sugar but he isn't going to stop eating it just because he might.

"Nah." Senku chuckled, shaking his head. "But you'll feel a lot of energy and crash down later. There won't be really any long term effects to binging on sugar once in awhile either. It's an expression."

He could explain sugar's effect on the body, but with surprising insight, he doesn't think Xue Yang is really asking that.

"People are usually hyper because everyone else is around them and it's a festive enough setting, that kind of thing."

"I guess we will have to wait and see if it has the effect on me." He tosses a few more candy corn into his mouth and then looks at the rest of the candy.

"Which ones do you like the best?"

Senku seemed to be taking the question seriously, looking over the spread as though he wasn't sure what to decide, because he wasn't.

"I guess if I had to choose one, the sour ones." Senku responded. "I'm more of a salt kind of guy, I don't eat much sugar."

He reaches out to try some that look sour. He doesn't mind giving all of them a try and he imagines he will like the sour ones just as well.

"I don't really understand this holiday but I don't mind the fact that it involves candy."

Well in my country back before, it was the kind of holiday for adults where they dressed up in costume, and went out to party and drink and whatever.

[ He hums momentarily. ]

I was too young for that. Not that I think I would've done it either way.

"What is the obsession with the dead and zombies and ghosts? Where I am from we deal with them every day and it isn't exactly something to be celebrate."

It was their job to destroy them and in his case, he enjoyed controlling them. He did dress up as a dead person once..but he isn't going to talk about that.

"Probably because they don't typically deal with them." Senku observed wryly.

"I don't think it's so intrinsically linked to spirits and ghosts in Japan. Zombies, maybe." He considered. "I'm not sure. Like I said, I was too young to go out drinking, but we did have a festival usually sometime in mid-August for honouring ancestors and spirits, that kind of thing. There was not really any candy though, it was another event where you go to the temple and get food and things."

"So the dead is fascinating to other people? They wouldn't think that way if they had to deal with it daily."

Of course the images they have of what zombies and ghosts and things look like certainly doesn't fit what he has actually encountered in life. But there is candy so at least this strange festival is giving him something good.

"I don't see much drinking going on here."

"Ha, well I think we're celebrating the Western version of this holiday which apparently is about stuffing children full of candy." Senku responded with a grin.

"I don't have any alcohol on hand or I'd give you some." He shrugged helplessly. He'd had a bit, but he was using it for preserving some pineapple.

"I'll have to request some so I'm better prepared for the next holiday they decide to celebrate." Not that he is a terribly heavy drinker but of course he knows what it is like to enjoy a good wine.

"For now I guess I'll settle with a sugar high."

"Pretty much all celebrations in the village just require drinking a lot of wine." Senku observed wryly. "Maybe next time, I hadn't really considered keeping alcohol around to drink. I don't drink very much, and Gen doesn't drink at all so..."

It wasn't high on his list of priorities.

"It isn't really something I considered necessary but I also never celebrated much. But wine is used to honor and celebrate many times at home." Mostly for the high class who have reason to hold gatherings. He hasn't ever fit in with that world.

"Neither do I, really, it's not my thing but you know how it is. People and their need for morale and all of that." His dad made that the biggest lesson he taught Senku, that fun was required, at least for other people.

"I don't mind too much, there's a lot you can do with wine."

"Besides drinking?" He quirks his eyebrow up in interest. More of Senku's experiments it seems. He does have a passing curiosity what this one might be like drunk.

"Of course. I distill it into brandy, to make the revival fluid. I've also used the alcohol content in components in things like medication as part of the process, and you can let it go bad so to speak to get vinegar, and the crystals on the top make rochelle salts for electronics, and if you cook it down you get sugar." Senku listed, off the top of his head.

He was a talkative drunk, and probably no one could follow his line of thinking at the time.

Xue Yang holds up his hand and nods, "Okay okay..so it has lots of uses that go beyond making people do dumb things." Because he has seen a lot of drunken idiots in his time. Xue Yang has never let himself have that kind of freedom to drink enough to get that way.

"That's true, but they certainly do dumb things too." Senku chuckled.

"Which is still true no matter what place in time we are."

"I don't have much interest in being a stupid drunk but it is amusing to see others act that way sometimes." But it also can be exhausting after awhile.

"Might be interesting to see what kind of drunks the people on the train would be."

"I don't find it that entertaining, I usually have a drink or two and go off on my own so I can do something I find more interesting." Senku responded. Was that rude? Probably.

"I think some people are too young, technically, but I can't be sure if there's any regulation at all to the alcohol we can get here."

"Our world didn't really have any rules about who could drink." He was a teenager when he first tried wine and that is pretty normal for their time.

"Really?" Senku mused. "Alcohol intake was limited to people over the age of twenty in Japan, back in the modern times. Now, it's just I guess whatever I say and honestly, I don't give a shit what people do so..." He shrugged.

[xue_yang]

"If you had money to pay for it, you could have wine. Something must have changed to make it such a luxury." It's just another interesting difference between their times.

"I wonder if there is a rule on the train."

"The people in charge make the rules, I don't know when that became law." Senku admitted.

"I mean, probably not? Who would enforce it?"

There is a person on the train he know enjoys wine more then most. He wonders if Wei Wuxian has the answer. "I suppose that is true. There are only a few who pretend they are in charge here and I doubt they have enough time to keep track of who is having a fun time."
