it's halloween, lo-ween, everybody!

Who: Everyone's Invited!
Where: Various decorated carriages!
When: Horseshoe 31.
What: Della is hosting a Halloween party! Come for treats, tricks, and trouble!
Warnings: N/A, will update it needed.

The room is dark…why aren’t the lights on? But as the doors fully open, a voice begins laughing darkly…

… although if you’ve ever heard the voice of Della Duck, you’ll recognize her immediately.

“Boys and girls of every age, wouldn’t you like to see something strange?”

Suddenly there’s a big THUD as someone drops from the ceiling, the lights flash on, and Della herself, dressed as a zombie – ripped apart clothes, fake blood here and there, drawn on scars - wiggles her fingers before laughing joyfully. “Happy Halloween, everybody! Let’s party!”

Tasty Treats

A big buffet table of candy and punch has been laid out! Mini chocolate bars and multi-colored lollipops, gummy worms and candy corn, all sorts of sweet and sour shenanigans, ghost-shaped cookies and mummy-looking muffins! There’s plenty to eat, with absolutely no healthy alternatives.

There are also small wrapped bags of candy with the letters “T.o.T” written on them. If someone tells you, “Trick or Treat!” you have to share your candy! Or keep it to yourself, you monster.

Haunted House

Thanks to Seto Kaiba’s projections, a neighboring carriage has been converted into a Haunted House! While it’s all a trick on the eyes, it gives the illusion that there are several floors of spookiness. Each floor has a different theme –

#1 Serial Seriousness – Every so often, a masked intruder pops out at you, with long claws or chainsaw, ready to give chase! Be careful, or you’ll be the next victim!

#2 Zombie Zaniness – Moans and groans of the undead can’t be unheard. Rotting arms will try to swipe at you through the floorboards!

#3 Ghostly Games – You can see through them, and they can see you too! Each mirror reflects a different dastardly demon!

#4 Deadly Doctors – In this hospital, it’s not the awful health insurance that’ll kill you! Beware the bloody nurses and their extra big needles!\

#5 Fishy Fears - … Wait, what? … Okay, this last floor was clearly designed by Della. It’s like Under the Sea, but with sharks and octopi and kraken - and Della insists this is the worst floor.

Feel free to have your characters braving the house, or trying to scare people within!

Dance Floor

If being haunted isn’t your thing, nothing wrong with getting your groove on! Ask DJ Della what kind of song you’d like to play, and she’s happy to put on the list, from a classic Monster Mash to something more somber and soulful for you slow-dancing-romantic-vampire-types.

Turnip Carving
… Look, they didn’t have pumpkins. Anyway, you’re encouraged to carve scary and silly faces in these veggies! There is a contest, but everyone will be a winner, from “Most Realistic” to “Most Depressing” !

Movie Mania
Kick back and relax – and be horrified – at the otherworldly horror films! Like the horrific monster mime, “That”, the relentless umpire-mask wearing killer, “Monday the 20th”, and the endless array of the undead, “Midmorning Of The Not Wholly Alive”!

Some of you awful people might be thinking of popping up and scaring the theater-goers and this is /winkwinknudgenudge/ totally not approved. /plausible deniability/

Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark
In one secluded, quiet, and verrry dark carriage, lit only by candles, here you are encouraged to tell the scariest stories you can think of! What eerie legends will you share from your world, or do you dare to make it up as you go along?

Make your own top-level, and happy haunting!

Also, if your character would like to dress up, costumes are available for this night only!

She smiled at his assurances but at his question...

"What party?" she asked, confused.

She might be watching the cards carefully, however.

"Ah," Gen kept his poker face up, and tried to word this as cheerfully as possible, like he wasn't raising his mental eyebrows. "This one? Della is throwing a delightful Halloween party, I'd have to say."

His deck was ... unique. Extra cards, hand-drawings, and perhaps most oddly, scientific principles were written on a lot of the cards.

He set down the following cards - Eight of Clubs, Three of Clubs, Molecular Theory, Queen of Spades, and the Uncertainty Principle.

"Hmmm," Gen tapped his chin, considering the cards. "Oh, this is a tricky sort of fortune, isn't it?"

"This... is a party?" she asked. But she frowned at what he dealt. "Those... look a lot like the dummy cards Alta swapped my cards with!" she put her hands behind her, as if protecting herself from a kick in the rear.

"Maybe not one with drinks and the like," Gen agreed a little, "but it's the sort of party I'd imagine they'd throw for kids, in places that celebrated this sort of Halloween."

Gen laughed softly, bemused. "Is that so? I'm rather attached to these cards, they're something I made when we reinvented paper. All of the drawings here have been done by yours truly."

He tapped on the first card, the Eight of Clubs.

"This one is too easy. We're on a train, so it's showing you're moving and traveling, of course! Not much of a prediction there. But it's also showing that you're willing to work together with the rest of us toward a common goal. We do have a mission coming up ..."

[najaran]

"Oh. The only parties I've ever been to were after tournaments, so mostly blood and bandages and tons of food..." And people trying to get her drunk, for some reason. "I guess there are different kinds."

"Well sure, of course I'll help! Who wouldn't?" Tell her and she'll knock some sense into them.

"Tons of kinds of parties! I think I prefer one like this - I'm rather squeamish, I wouldn't like to see people fight to entertain us at all," Gen laughed a little at himself.

He hummed. "A girl after my own heart. We're all trapped on this train - we all need to work together. Hopefully everyone has your attitude."

Next, he tapped the Three of Clubs. "This one, might be you, might be your friend -" he looked at the talking cane, "- but it's showing the direction you should take. It's speaking of progress, advising you should look for new opportunities. I can't help but think of our mission, soon ... it seems my inner eye sees a chance you can grow and learn new skills. If you're working with others, that's surely your path."

[najaran]

"Yeah I never understood non-cepters who enjoyed watching." she shrugged. "Especially given how many of them got hurt in Soron."

"Whoever doesn't want to work together... maybe just needs to make some more friends." She was learning that lesson back home. A lot of people who seemed like bullies could actually be really nice when you got to know them and worked with them instead of against them.

"Goligan is the one who has to learn something new this time?" she asked a little too gleefully.

"Some people, sadly, aren't fans of making friends," Gen said. "Which means that you have to trick them into it."

Gen winked at her.

And then, he had to giggle. "Maybe, maybe. Now, so the goal you're working toward ..."

He tapped Molecular Theory. "Well, this just makes sense. This is the underlying structure of everything. You, me, the table, the cards, the air - it's what holds them together. Laws, truth, and when things interact - cause and effect."

"So your goal on this next mission is to help maintain that kind of order - stop people who want to hurt others, or seek to cause chaos and disrupt how things should be," Gen mused. "So you're a pretty heroic type of person."

[najaran]

She nodded, not at all opposed to tricking someone into becoming a friend, since that was good for them and for the world around them. She was beaming brightly.

Goligan seemed less impressed, mind.

"Now this card, this is how you should accomplish your goal," Gen told her, and tapped the Queen of Spades.

His head tilted. "Hmmm, so - you need to be direct and straightforward when you're helping out people, my dear. And you need to make certain your biases don't get in your way. See how the blade she holds is quite dangerous? So long as you're honest, you'll be successful on your mission."

[najaran]

"Weren't you just advocating deviousness?" Goligan asked, unimpressed.

"Goligan, don't be rude," Najaran scolded.

Gen laughed, though. "Deviousness can be an option, when I'm looking at a particular card, I'm not going to only tell you a specific angle."

He tilted his head. "The whole point of this reading is to start from somewhere very general, and then each card clarifies the last, letting the future become more and more specific for you two."

"So, while some people do require some tricks," Gen winked, "with some clarification, the cards advise a more honest path."

[najaran]

"Sounds a lot like covering all possibilities so you are proven right no matter what," Gooligan grumbled.

"Or," Gen held up a finger, looking impish, "the cards help nudge you in the right direction, because fate is decided by us and us alone ... so you can see the path you want to see, and find a reason to make that decision."

[najaran]

"If we are supposed to decide our own fate, what do we learn from these?" Unlike Goligan who was borderline judgmental, she was openly curious.

"What were you considering before you came over here?" Gen asked her. "Were you thinking about how to work together with the others here, even those you didn't know? Were you thinking about what you believed in, how you felt when you accomplished these missions the train gives us - if it satisfied any of your own personal ethics?"

"Especially in a situation like this," Gen told her with a small smile, "we're forced to think minute-by-minute. How to survive. We're trapped, we're stuck, we just need to find a way to get by. We lose sight of the big picture, what we need to do beyond mere survival."

"So," Gen concluded, "it does what any other story or piece of art often tries to do. It inspires."

[najaran]

"Actually I was trying to figure out what was going on with the train and wondering what sort of yummy things might be in the kitchen today..."

"Also good things to wonder! I'm looking forward to something that's not teddy bear lunch meat eventually, aren't you?" Gen grinned at her. "But all the same, I hope to have inspired you to think a little bigger."

[najaran]

She considered that. "I think full bear meat might be a little too big," she said, hearing the food part and kind of missing the point of the rest, because now she was thinking about food and wanting to eat.
