Hey look, it's a Tony log
Who: Tony and OTA
Where: Kitchen/ Dining car
When: Bassoon 4-ish
What: Tony's cooking meals, making treats, and generally trying to keep himself busy
Warnings: Irreverence and Language? The usual.
The last team had done a respectable job in the kitchen. He'd had few complaints during the last month. However, between himself and the rest of the red team, especially Feanor, people were going to be very well fed this month.
Even though there were plenty of cooks in this kitchen for the month, this particular day Tony had taken over the kitchen. He was only sort of sticking to the recipes he'd been given, preferring to use his own or make them up as he went (shocking, I know). Currently he had three dishes he was working on at once. He had some salmon he was curing to make lox, some gummy candy he was making, and the main dish for the evening meal- whole roasted salmon with herbs and farfalle pasta with asparagus and tomatoes. Thanks to Evie and Feanor, they also had sourdough bread to go along with it and a fancy Elvish dessert.
Off to one side, he had an eggplant out, ready to fix for certain individuals who saw fish and fled in terror.
[ooc: Feel free to catch him at any point of this meal prep, during clean up, or during the meal. Whatever, you guys know I'll tag anything.]

Anyway, he was more interested in listening to Kaito talk about his family than splitting hairs over a perfect dinner. Well, not more interested. About the same level. Perfect dinners were important too.
"Why's that? It doesn't get the respect it does in Western culture?" He asks, curiously.

"How about a card trick, kid?" He asks, with a smirk. He knew a lot of magician secrets, but he didn't mind humoring the young man.
no subject
"He made enough to pay for his shows to keep going, at least!" Kaito grins. "One day I hope to do the same."
He laughs. "Sure - gotta keep in practice." The cards drop down into his hands and he fans them out for Tony to see that they're all different, and picks out the Queen of Spades.
"So. This one is called the Whispering Queen - I'm gonna put her over here, so she can't see, as she's gonna be the one who whispers the answer to me." He tidies the cards back up and offers the deck to Tony. "Can you cut the deck into three, please? However you like. And just pop them on the table."

Tony pauses with his work on dinner and washes wipes his hands off on a nearby towel. With a glance at Kaito's face, he did as he was told, splitting the deck by three and putting them on the table. He tries to pay attention to Kaito's hands, but he also had the food to pay attention to.
no subject
"Excellent, now point to one of the three decks." He grins, lining them up neatly for Tony.

"Awesome - take the top card and memorise it, then shuffle it back in."
no subject
"Have you given anymore thought to my suggestion you have a night to do your tricks for the crew?"
no subject
He fans the cards out faceup and grins at him.
"Alright, now let's get the Queen to tell me your card!" He reaches over and snags the Queen of Spades from where it's been sitting behind him, and runs it slowly over the other cards, stopping when he comes to the Nine of Hearts.
"Ah, she wants this one. Is this your card?"
no subject
He watches with amusement as the young man finishes his trick and selects the right card. His eyebrows rose in surprise since he honestly hadn't seen anything. "You're talented, kid! Keep it up. You'll have a nice long career ahead of you just as soon as we can figure out how to send you home."

It'll have to be special - with two of his favourite critics in the audience!
"Thanks!" He grins. "So long as I make enough to get by, I think I'll be happy. Although obviously, being famous'd be nice!"
no subject
"But it can get hard having everyone and their mother watching your every move."
no subject
He whistles.
"I don't know if that sounds terrible or hilarious." He says with a laugh. "And eh, I'm good at disguises. I reckon I could get away with it."
no subject
He was underestimating the boy now.
no subject
"You do need good makeup skills, or some fancy masks, but if you're doing it properly you should be able to walk out in the street and no one should be able to tell it's you."
no subject
"Have any thoughts what you might do with your fame once you get it?"
no subject
He shrugs.
"Haven't thought that far, in honesty! I gotta make it, first."
And destroy Pandora, hopefully without ruining his civilian life.
no subject
"Maybe you should start thinking about it." He nods at the baking sheet with the seasoned eggplant on it and sticks it in the oven. "Well, that's not going to take too long to finish. Are you so scared of fish that if someone is having it next to you, you'll freak?"
no subject
"Ugh." He opinions. "Purple is soooo not my color. Is there a way to earn cash?"
He watches Tony curiously and twitches all over at the mention.
"If you don't.... mention what you're eating and it doesn't... you know. Look like a... a... f-finny thing it's fine."
no subject
As the young man starts to squirm and get uncomfortable with the idea of the fish, Tony had to laugh. "It might be wise for you to eat your dinner in here and leave before the main course is ready for everyone else.
no subject
He flashes him a thankful grin.
"I probably should, yeah." No need to give Edogawa even more ammunition.
no subject
"What would you like to drink with it? I have some iced tea or water with some berries in it.."
no subject
"Ingredients to make smoke bombs?" He says wistfully and then shrugs and grins. "Not really, beyond prank material or stuff for a magic show, if I'm being honest. I'll just have to work hard and keep my eyes open!"
no subject
"We really only need potassium nitrate and we could make those. It's a food preservative sometimes or in fertilizer as well the obvious gun powder." Where could they get that chemical? Could they make that chemical? Yes, but what if.. "Get Peter's help on making potassium nitrate. He could use the chemistry practice."
He sat up sharply. "Actually you can also make smoke bombs out of ping pong balls. Not the plastic ones but the original kind. If you can find a few of those, I can show you how to make them."
