Fight Club Open Log! (Catch-All For the Month of Imagination)
Who: Open to anyone! Make your own toplevel style~
Where: Training gym
When: Throughout the month of Imagination
What: Training in the gym. Unofficially known as "Fight Club". 47 absolutely does not call it that. But I do!
Warnings: It's a Fight Club! Sorta. Expect (hopefully friendly) violence, maybe some cursing, and whatever else. Free feel to add cw in your toplevels if needed.
Early in the month of Imagination, 47 makes an announcement on the ICP.
From: Training Gym
To: All Carriages
Make toplevels to your heart's content and tag around to each other freely. Whether your character is offering to teach or wanders in looking for someone to get them involved (or just to watch), this is a post for you! You may use this for any sort of open or even private threads if you so wish.
This log is for anyone who wants to participate in exercising, training, sparring, and teaching lessons. Some of the "classes" also involve things like yoga, meditation, and easier self defense mechanisms for anyone to learn. Magic users also use the facilities to practice their spells! Everyone get use to that crazy lightning storm going off around them as they fight the big bad monster of a training dummy! It's going to happen at some point out in the field, guaranteed!
Basically, if you want to learn new skills that could be useful on missions, come take a peek!
[[ooc note: The typical Fight Club open log post has returned! Now condensed into one post with the ic announcement for convenience of yours truly. Here is the original ooc info post which may or may not one day get an update, and here is a list of training/trainers offered up. Feel free to continue to update either post with new character info! Or ask questions if you have 'em!]]

- [It's the bald man in a suit again and if you've guessed what he's going to say before he starts talking you've been on the train for far too long like the rest of them.]
Another mission should be coming within the week. Anyone unprepared should consider the efforts ongoing in the training gym to learn new skills for survival, combat, and defensive measures. Those who have such skills already are welcome to participate in sparring and exercise sessions as well if they have not already done so within the group setting. [Or come help train.]
There are multiple people to chose from for training or sparring needs. Simply make your way to the training gym whenever possible. My name is Tobias Rieper--you'll find me there most days and if you need help with anything I'm available.
[That's all he has to say this time. Short, sweet, to the point. The end. He'll be in the training gym for Q&A for the rest of the day and probably most of the week or until the next mission comes (at least). This is typical for him anyway.]

- For a basic set-up consider this: the new training gym has all sorts of useful equipment for physical fitness such as mats, soft hand held pads for training with, training dummies, some balancing beams and even a springboard. There are large blocks for making obstacle courses or creating a unique battlefield, and two climbing apparatus next to the wall. Many people are found here daily training, maintaining physical fitness, and teaching others how to handle combat in one fashion or another. Others come and go more sporadically but all are welcome and everyone (typically) shares everything with relative ease. Many of the usual suspects will help accommodate whoever asks for help. Generally, there is just a lot of activity and a busy but fluid schedule around all the equipment and space provided.

Combat Training
Fear, that's what.
Koumyou hadn't come in looking for Natsuno, or even anyone doing anything in particular, but he couldn't help but be drawn to that much awkward flailing.
He did, at least, tuck the sutra away into his pocket before speaking up, "You're going to put an eye out like that, probably one of yours!"
no subject
He appreciated the kindness in the concession because it kept everything at a low thrum and not a constant rising feeling of panic waiting to overtake him.
He could ignore something like that. He stopped, and shifted into a more relaxed posture. "It'd heal." He admitted first. Was that a joke? Actually, yes.
"I'm trying to figure this out."
no subject
Sorry Natsuno, it's really that obvious you're brand now to this.
"There are easier weapons to start with, you know. Especially if one doesn't have to worry about building strength first."
no subject
His world had been modern and not immersed in conflict. It was partly what made what happened to be all the easier.
no subject
Getting into range to strike and then out of range to avoid getting got, took some real finesse. But maybe Natsuno's 'curse' could make up for some of that problem?
no subject
"I'm not terribly worried about getting hurt. Most injuries wouldn't be serious to me."
no subject
no subject
He was in one fight. It was something of a disaster.
no subject
"...You can fight me! I don't offer do that very often, you know, you should feel very special."
no subject
"I don't know, I don't really want to hurt you." It was a concern because he didn't really hate any of them enough to want them to be hurt.
no subject
And out of his pocket came a piece of cutlery he'd accidentally wandered off with earlier in the day and just hadn't gotten around to returning yet. A spoon, which he tossed Natsuno's way. Catch! Your problem now!
"There, pretend that's a knife. Just don't gouge out my eyes, and we should be fine!"
no subject
"Alright, if you say so." He took what was some kind of mimic of a defensive pose. It was terrible He had openings everywhere really.
no subject
"How well do you heal?" Best to gauge how much to dial himself in. If Natsuno was so determined that getting hurt was no big deal, Koumyou would probably test that for him at some point in the fight. But not if he was going to be all busted up for a while after.

Had he not been so attached to his own adoptive son that he refused to watch the thirteen-year-old die gruesomely, he'd have still been protecting both the seiten and maten sutras, even now.
"I'm faster and stronger than a normal guy, myself," the priest warned cheerfully. "Come at me whenever!"
no subject
If it connected with any part of him, he might find the strength behind it was solid and unyielding, even if he was holding back.
no subject
"See, that's another part of the problem with such a small weapon -- no range!"
Kinzan Temple had been a unique place among Buddhist sanctuaries, with Koumyou as its head priest. Remote and isolated in the mountains, it had held an entire room as an armory of weapons. Spears, staves, knives, swords, bows, guns. Each blessed for even more impact, probably by the Sanzo priest himself.
He knew his way around the lot of them.
"Keep trying! I'll attack back at some point." But not yet.
no subject
It was a valid point, but it wouldn't make a difference if he was fast enough to close gaps. It was interesting that he was quick enough to jump backwards. Probably, the thick of it, was that he wasn't expecting it.
"Alright." Natsuno nodded slightly and set himself up for a bit more of a chase, moving faster now that he was trying to close the gap, even if it was just a spoon he was trying to poke at him with.
no subject
Basically, he was trying to frustrate the kid into speeding up if he was holding back. Come on vampire, he believes in you! Show him what you've got!
And then one of Koumyou's hands snapped out of his pocket, almost too fast for a normal person to even see, the priest trying to grab Natsuno's knife-wrist. If successful, that grip of his was way too strong for a normal human.
1/2
He wasn't frustrated enough yet, there was so much more he could do that he was trying to restrain himself from.
2/2
His reaction was instinctive.
His eyes turned red and he yanked, now making an effort to push his strength to get away. His strength was nowhere near a human's. If Koumyou could weather it, he didn't really know how to break holds.
If he was trying to get that vampire side to come out, he was successful.
Re: 2/2
Nor did it make him seem to take this shit seriously, of course. "Ooooh, spooky!"
Time to see if normal manipulation of tendons, pressure points, and the opposition's own strength, worked against a vampire like it did a human or a youkai! Koumyou half-turned toward the pulling and twisted his grip like so, in a way that would make most people go up onto their toes to relieve the pressure on their tendons. And then whether that worked or not, he hauled with all of his own strength to try to fling the kid forward and down.
Did vampires bounce?
no subject
He yelped in response to the twist, he could still feel the pain even if pain would resolve itself quickly enough and he wasn't at all expecting the move so he absolutely ended up on the ground, just barely avoiding smacking his head through flinging out his other arm a little recklessly as though to stop himself from hitting the ground. He let out a cry upon landing and it was then that Koumyou might catch a glimpse of his fangs, as they came out from behind his teeth.
Natsuno hissed a little bit, that hurt. He did not bounce, but he did move to get back up, retracting those fangs and already the pain was fading.
no subject
"Ow ow ow... hey, here's an idea!" Koumyou's cheer was apparently unbreakable, at least in this context. "Why do you even need a knife? Seems to me you're just limiting yourself to one hand like that! Try coming at me without it!"
After all, the down-side to unarmed fighting was a lack of range, and a knife sure didn't solve that. It would be a good supplement to a more hands-on style, but perhaps shouldn't be the kid's main focus.
no subject
Natsuno glanced away slightly.
"I can try." He said, holding out the spoon to him since it wasn't his after all.
"But I don't know what I'm doing." If he did, he might've had some sort of counter to that maneuvre that Koumyou had done.
