oh captain my captain
Who: Enna and you!
Where: Network, and then the kitchen car!
When: Imagination 15, morning
What: Enna claims the captaincy.
Warnings: Summaries of the mission, including death and injury!
[The ICPs on the train will all start up, showing Enna's face, looking uncharacteristically serious. And she seems to have figured out the ICPs much better since her last time.]
Cawww... That mission was a mess. It sucked. For a lot of reasons.
[She sighs, folding her arms, her cloak wrapped around her.]
Hi. If I haven't met you yet, I'm Enna. Gienah Alchiba, captain of the Argo Minor. But call me Enna. Or Captain, 'cause that's what this is about.
When we were fighting the bad guys, I called myself the captain of the Voidtrecker Express. That was mostly to make myself a priority target, 'cause I'm the one who had the unbreakable shield. But I meant it, too. A crew this size needs a captain, so I'll do it. 'Cause, that was awful.
We need to make sure this won't happen again. Not just so that we're more prepared, so we can fight through anything, but we need to be careful about who does what. Someone in the group I was in killed one of the bad guys after they were already pinned down. I dunno who that guy is, but that's not something I will allow to happen again.
[She takes a minute to gather herself again, figure her thoughts out as she rustles her cloak.]
I need to know what all happened on this mission. What groups were where. Please report in with what you know of what happened on this mission, what you did. If you know anything about who those enemies were, that's important, too. We can't keep sailing blind. If we get another mission like this and we're any less organized, we might not have anyone survive.
I'll be at the.... There's no helm. Caw. Okay. I'll be in the kitchen car. Come report to me there. I'm going to start making plans for what to do next time.
[The video ends. She didn't even punch the ICP this time.]
(OOC note: This is not an OOCly enforced thing, this is just Enna's own actions. You don't have to acknowledge or obey, the train sure won't. Replies are gonna be assumed to be in-person unless specified otherwise!)

By the time Enna's done, Eva's of many, many thoughts about this.]
We do have a council... That said, I will stand behind about the killing of enemies already downed. That shouldn't be allowed. Not if the multiverse thinks of us as heroes.

[She folds her arms.]
Doesn't matter what other people think of us. It won't be allowed, period. I don't want that guy going out on missions anymore if combat will happen.

When she arrives to the kitchen, the first thing she does is get herself some tea before facing Enna. And boy does she have some Words about that mission.]
Two things:
One. I will accept you as captain as that showed true grit. Not many have that courage to make themselves a decoy, no matter how stupid it was to do so.
Two. I was, and have been, on healing shifts. I am APPALLED by the lack of on-board standby there was when I evacuated one of the fighters to heal her.
[Her temper rises as she says the second half of her statement, truly furious at what happened and the lack of at-the-ready healers while others were on the planet. She still needs to collect her thoughts together and breathe before she says more, so she just tiredly leans against a wall, sipping her tea.]

That's important... I know at least a couple people died. I don't wanna let it happen anymore, but we need more medical for that...
I think there were some medical people around on the ground, but it isn't enough. Can we get more doctors trained here?

“I didn’t see what happened when you claimed captaincy since I got evacuated, but that sounds like a brave move. We have a council, but no known conductor right now.
Anyways, I have a few points to mention. First off, I made an ICP call about this earlier, but I think more people should go to Fight Club at the least. Not everyone here knows how to defend themselves, and missions can go bad quickly. There was a previous mission that went bad too a few months back, where all teams ended up having to unexpectedly fight, so this isn’t a one off situation.
Second, can you describe the killer? I’m not sure what we can do on the train about it, but I’m at least familiar with finding a culprit.”
[What, you think Masumi is going to ignore the part about someone killing a downed saboteur?]
no subject
[Enna nods, though she seems a bit frustrated.]
I dunno. I can't describe him- He had black hair, but he died right after killing the down guy. I couldn't get a good look at him with everything going on. And he was wearing red, but everyone's clothes were red with how that fight went.
[She's mad about it, too. She wants to be able to identify someone who'd do that, but.]
I dunno what 'Fight club' is but if it's learning how to fight, I agree. And I haven't really heard of the council, either. If they can't help stop stuff like this, then I don't really care about 'em. Caw.

Still, he has a question. So, upon telling Ken-chan he is going to go "build stamina", he hops his way out of their bunk and bounces down the train....
And down the train.....
And down the train.

Would you like me to come find you at the kitchen so we can talk about this? I like speaking face to face when orders of business are the concern. [ A pause. ] That, and maybe I need a cup of coffee myself. I could make you one too. Apparently, I'm pretty good at it. [ It's a small attempt to seem normal, but...Well. Work is work. ]

Please. Kitchen's easiest. Do we have coffee? Isn't that expensive?

She's got her journals with her when she enters the kitchen, not that she knows if she'll be referencing them in this discussion.]
Hey, Enna.
[That said, her voice and smile are tired.]
Captain, even. I saw what you were doing at the end, there; you're really good at improvising with what you've got.
[Then, she sighs, setting her shoulders. Debrief mode.]
As for what I was up to, during the mission and the final battle-
[Enna's welcome to cut her off at any time; what follows is mostly a list of the stations she helped repair on-world, her work evacuating animals, and her analysis of the shields the saboteurs had in addition to the presence of their ship.]

[Enna doesn't even have to move. The bond they share now let Enna know Nita was coming, and she seems pretty happy.]
I've gotta be. The spirits are powerful, but I gotta be clever with them.

What gives you the right to demand everyone listens to you? You're no better then anyone else on this train. And I killed someone because they were trying to kill us. Why are you so much on the enemies side? Perhaps you like them better then us. Do the people who got killed on the train matter less then the one that died on the battlefield? Do the dozens of people that had to leave the battle field injured by the enemy mean nothing? Do you even know what a real battlefield is like? Because some of us have grown up in battle and know that it is not always so easy to negotiate with someone who wants you dead.
They wouldn't have stopped until we were dead, so why should we? Pinned down means nothing. Now you've let them escape. We can't jail them, we can't control them. But now that at least one has gotten away, they will only come back to do it again. And this time they will be even better prepared because they know what we are capable of. What will you say when even more people die next time? Your way of doing things is exactly what will get more people killed.
no subject
You're a jerk and you're dumb.
[Nailed it, Enna. She folds her arms, staring back at him levelly.]
Gonna ignore all your dumb assumptions. I know what battles are like. People who die here come back on the train- You're proof of that. So how do you know they won't come back somewhere else and be fine?
Pinned down means they can't fight. If they can't fight, killing them is just murder.

Hello, Enna. While announcing yourself as Captain in the heat of battle to draw the enemy's attention is an admirable action, I cannot agree with your decision to do it here and now.
First, the Train is not without leadership. Myself, with 5000 years of being a Captain, and others on the Train are taking an active hand in helping everyone.
What happened on the planet. [He takes his tea bag out and sets it aside, then adds milk and sugar to his cup.] I have led armies to battle in wars that some would say are uncountable. Though, trust me, I have kept count, and I know the names of every one of my allies and enemies who have died. What happened on the planet would not have been avoided if we had a 'captain' in charge.
If you want to help guide and protect this crew, I fully support that. Please, come to the upcoming council meeting, and voice your concerns.
I do agree though, we do need to have a more organized healing team. The presence of the saboteurs, the first time we have encountered such a thing, caught them by surprise. We have been diligently upgrading their equipment, and the supplies of healing items which we encourage everyone to carry, but if people [yes, he is talking about you, Eva!] refuse to remove themselves from battle, forcing them to do so against their will, makes us just as bad as those we face. We need field medics.
[He then sips his tea and waits for her response. Captain to Captain.]
no subject
I don't agree. I can't call myself a captain in battle, and then pretend I didn't mean it later. If I'm to call myself it at any point, I gotta be up to it at all times. So that's what I'm doing now.
[She draws her cloak around herself as Glorfindel talks.]
If there's leadership, then we need to be sure that every group has a leader. Who can stop people who go out of control.
"Forcing people against their will"? I don't think so. Captains need to be obeyed. That's how it works. A Captain has power and authority, because they also have the responsibility. Everyone's lives and happiness are the Captain's duty. So if the Captain tells someone to fall back, then they need to do so, because otherwise the captain can't do their job. Power and responsibility are the same thing.
(no subject)
no subject
But maybe we should at least shop around for other candidates. 'Cause I know a couple it'd be hard to beat. Not to question your credentials or anything.
no subject
Who are you thinking of? If they're better and want the job then that's good. I'm a ship's captain, but my world doesn't have 'trains' or 'void' or stuff, so if someone knows more, they're probably better for the job.
