Jelly 3: Orange Team meet(ing) and mingle

Either Eva or Curufin, or they both use the ICP to remind Orange Team of the meeting. "Orange Team, please report to the Music Carriage for a Team Meeting. It isn't mandatory, but we do encourage everyone to attend as there’s things that need to be sorted out in terms of team structure. If you need a bribe: we have snacks."

For this meeting, Eva's commandeered the top of the Music carriage, given the number of people in the team, and notable, she has Lele out, the porygon2 set to record the meeting so the minutes can later be printed out.

Food-wise, there's there's enough food and far too many oran, pinap, and cheri berries across numerous bowls. There's also bags of sweets and lollies spread across several bowls and room for any other food that’s either been made or scrounged up from the kitchens.

"I believe you, Selenay! And I'm not worried about how long you've been here. I think you should explore your skills and see what best suits you. I can make suggestions, but as time goes by, you will discover what you want to do and can do."

Okay, he will make a suggestion. "I don't know if this appeals to you, but the train is now providing us with mission comms. It takes a lot of attention to keep track of what's going on, even just with Team Orange, let alone all the other teams. If you are interested, you might give the communicator's role a try. If not, we'll think up something else."

[herarrows]

"I'm not so much concerned about what you think of me, but there are others in this group who don't know me all that well. Quite honestly, they shouldn't follow someone blindly simply because they're in a position of power, and I understand that I am still a relative unknown." She's not stupid or blind to her place in this whole...ordeal.

But his suggestion is a good one and she considers it for a moment, then nods with a wry smile. "That is probably a good place to start. If nothing else, it will force me to learn a little more about how all of this works."

Curufin nods. "If others don't know you all that well, they probably will in the future. And that issue you bring up, that people should not follow someone simply because they have power, that was the reason we disbanded the Council. As far as the teams go, we still have team leads and now we're thinking in terms of roles that people might want to fill and might have the skills for or are willing to learn the skills. We're thinking less in terms of authority structure and more in terms of collaboration and contribution."

He smiles. "If you're willing to start with the mission comms, then a lot of people are going to be grateful."

[herarrows]

"I'll do what I can, though you'll have to forgive me if it takes some time to get accustomed to using it." If nothing else, she is good at relaying messages. That's doubtless going to be the easy part. It's the rest that's going to prove complicated for her, but like she'd said, hopefully she'll be able to learn something too and not feel so helpless in the wake of the machines around her.

Curufin smiles. "Nobody gets used to anything that has to do with the train easily. So, no problem if it takes some time. You just work on it at your own pace." Tackling a new area of knowledge is a very good way to not feel so helpless, especially when it will benefit others as well as oneself.

"Well hopefully it won't take too long. I can't imagine anyone would be too pleased with me if it takes too much time." She can take some time to work through it when they aren't on a mission, too, and hopefully that will give her something else to occupy her time.

"With luck, it won't take too long. But I don't think anyone is going to be displeased with you if it takes time. It took the rest of us time to get used to having the mission comms. What a tangle of audio threads it is when we all begin to talk on the three comms!" He shakes his head and laughs.

[herarrows]

"Well, here's hoping so. And praying that neither of us cursed ourselves by saying so out loud." Untangling she can at least manage, one she's figured out how the damn things work.

He grins. "It's always good to proceed with hope. But I doubt we've cursed ourselves. The train environment doesn't seem as prone to stomp on people for expressing hopes as some worlds do. Mine, for instance. Anyway, let me know if there's anything you need to know in order to start the project."

[herarrows]

"You'll pardon me if I'm a little skeptical. There is a reason, after all, why 'may your life be interesting' is a curse in Valdemar." Gods listen, after all, and she knows that. Call it a life of being trained to bite her tongue, if you have to.

Curufin laughs softly. "I'll pardon you. If the gods of your world would take such a wish as a curse and then implement it, then you must be used to being very careful with your language."

He nods. "Then maybe we'll be talking together on the mission comms, on this next mission or on future ones. That'll be enjoyable."
