Day 19 - Time for a Wedding
Who: Lan WangJi, Wei WuXian and anyone else who wants to attend!
Where: Garden carriage and then gym car
When: Day 19 of Egret
What: Wedding! Wedding reception and lots of food.
Warnings: Pretty much up in the air. But there will likely a lot of PDA's from the wedding couple during the reception... because that's how they roll
Finally, it was Day 19, the day that WangJi and WuXian had chosen for their wedding.
Ceremony
Inside the garden, everything had been decorated in red and gold, traditional colors for a wedding in China. There were flowers and a low table set up.
As the ceremony begins, Lan WangJi and Wei WuXian enter with Lan Sizhui and Wen Qing as their attendants. The wedding clothes for WangJi and WuXian are also red, with designs of forest animals in the designs sewn in, including frogs and rabbits. All of this was courtesy of their friendly neighborhood spider. WuXian was also wearing a red veil over his hair and face. Even WangJi’s ever-present forehead ribbon was red today instead of white.
As the pair approached the table, WuXian on one side and WangJi on the other, they alternated bowing to each other three times before kneeling. With the help of their attendants, they each drank a cup of tea, which they used their long sleeves as though hiding that they were doing so behind them. Once they had put the cups down, WangJi reached up, pushing the veil back so that he could see WuXian’s face before removing the forehead ribbon he’d been wearing. Taking WuXian’s hand, he used to make kind of a loose knot between their two wrists, a Gusu Lan symbol that WuXian was his fated partner. Then as they carefully stood, WangJi leaned in to kiss WuXian before they both bowed to their attendants, thanks for assisting them and being there for them.
Reception
Following the wedding ceremony itself, the party then moved to the gym car, where the reception and feast were being held. Like the decorations for the wedding, it was also a lot of red and gold. To those who didn’t know beforehand, it would likely be obvious that red and gold here very important.
Lots of food cooked by wonderful volunteers from the train. Of course, there had to be dessert, which was the cake baked by the couple’s son, Lan Sizhui.
As the wedding couple, they were rather happily seated together of course. WangJi had since replaced the forehead ribbon on his head, but there was a high likelihood that sometime during the party WuXian was going to end up wearing it around his wrist.
[ooc: Mingle post! Feel free to make your own top levels and tag around and have fun. Also, in the picture, ignore the hat for WangJi’s robes. He’s not wearing a hat]

If she can manage to look confident with out Sheikah armor and facewrappings, she thinks to herself, people may not even notice that she's more dressed up than most.
She stays near the reception table, a glass clutched in a gloved hand (occasionally, she even takes a sip from it.)Mostly she's content to observe and listen, though sometimes you might catch her humming along to some of the music. Later, someone might realize why- as the party begins to break down she wanders off to slip her ocarina out of her pocket and try to recreate the songs that caught her attention.
Towards the end of reception
And some punch that doesn't have alcohol in.
She's just sat herself down in a chair, sighing and hoping she isn't that tired already, when the soft sounds of the ocarina reach her ears.
Perking up in her seat, she glances about until she finds Zelda.
"That's beautiful," she remarks, a little soft, before she figures it's better to say it closer up given the crowd.
Reluctantly getting up, she walks over to Zelda and repeats her praise.
no subject
"Thank you," she responds. "I wasn't quite sure, to be honest. It isn't usually my instrument of choice."
Not news to Nita, probably, but Zelda doesn't know that.
"But I miss making music. I haven't done it very much while I've been here, and some of the songs others were playing caught my attention."
no subject
"We don't really have all that many instruments here, do we? Except for cases where it's their personal item."
She pauses, putting a hand to her chin. "We probably could order instruments through the shop. Or build them..."
There were quite a few people who'd appreciate such a thing.
no subject
She gives a slight wince, mind flashing back to the night of the party weeks before. "...much to my taste."
A nod. "I suppose the train might be willing to provide. Do you know if someone asked for the Greenhouse, or did it just appear?"
no subject
Given one of them's a whale and all... and a good deal of them are aliens, can't forget that.
"There was a poll, soon after we showed up. Plants were one of the options for what would 'make us happy'," Nita quotes.
"That, and we were already working on putting flower and herb boxes up around the train, so the idea probably came from there."
no subject
The whales wouldn't be surprising, not to someone from Hyrule. The aliens... well. That one might be arguable.
no subject
"That's alright," Nita said.
"I don't think everyone on the train responded to it, anyhow. We didn't exactly get a results survey."
no subject
"Though there is the general principle of the matter. I have a teacher back home who would be rather displeased at my inattention."
no subject
"Oh gods; I cam imagine."
Tom Swale could be exactly that kind of mentor, at times.
"Still, it's incentive to do better in the future, isn't it? Imagining how they'd react, thinking how they'd think."
no subject
He spots Zelda in her light green and peach gown, and he comes over to the reception table to greet her. He, too, has a glass of wine in his hand. He catches the sound of her humming. "Enjoying the party, Zelda? Do you sing or play an instrument, by the way?"
no subject
More immediately, Zelda smiles politely and lowers the barely-touched drink. "It was a kind thing for the train to do," she observes, "and if there are more parties in the future I'd rather they be more like this than the last one."
The music then had given her such a headache. Elongated ears meant to hear the voices of the gods apparently do not react well to electronic music.
"I do. The harp, mostly, and the ocarina."
no subject
"It's funny, the train entity is not kind when it takes people from their own worlds without asking, but it is very kind in other important ways. It apparently made a lot of people happy with this party." He smiles. "I'll settle for any kind of party at all."
You'd think that electronic music would give an Elf of any kind a headache, but it didn't have that effect on Curufin.
"You play the harp? Wonderful! Want to play a duet sometime? Oh, and what's an ocarina?"
no subject
(And because not giving him things he actually likes is what you're supposed to do with the personal item spot on the application, right?)
"Then I suppose you could always encourage a few more weddings," Zelda says. The party is a bit too crowded for her tastes, but she'll be the first to admit that her standards have been pretty thoroughly warped.
"I-" She blinks, "Of course, if you'd like. And an ocarina is a small vessel flute- usually shaped like an egg or a pendant."
no subject
(True! Deprive the character of favorite things! )
"In order to do that, we'd have to have a few more people who wanted to get married and a few people who wanted to marry them." He rolls his eyes, not in derision but in doubt that there are many loving couples on the train who aren't already married.
"Then let's get together with our musical instruments some time. It's too bad the train doesn't have a venue for performances. But absent that, we could play in the garden coach. It has really nice acoustics, as you might have noticed."
no subject
A nod. "I've found as much, yes."
no subject
He brightens at the idea of making music. "Then let's make a pledge to jam together, as these modern musicians say. What kind of music do you like?"
