Day 19 - Time for a Wedding

When: Day 19 of Egret
What: Wedding! Wedding reception and lots of food.
Warnings: Pretty much up in the air. But there will likely a lot of PDA's from the wedding couple during the reception... because that's how they roll

Finally, it was Day 19, the day that WangJi and WuXian had chosen for their wedding.

Ceremony
Inside the garden, everything had been decorated in red and gold, traditional colors for a wedding in China. There were flowers and a low table set up.

As the ceremony begins, Lan WangJi and Wei WuXian enter with Lan Sizhui and Wen Qing as their attendants. The wedding clothes for WangJi and WuXian are also red, with designs of forest animals in the designs sewn in, including frogs and rabbits. All of this was courtesy of their friendly neighborhood spider. WuXian was also wearing a red veil over his hair and face. Even WangJi’s ever-present forehead ribbon was red today instead of white.

As the pair approached the table, WuXian on one side and WangJi on the other, they alternated bowing to each other three times before kneeling. With the help of their attendants, they each drank a cup of tea, which they used their long sleeves as though hiding that they were doing so behind them. Once they had put the cups down, WangJi reached up, pushing the veil back so that he could see WuXian’s face before removing the forehead ribbon he’d been wearing. Taking WuXian’s hand, he used to make kind of a loose knot between their two wrists, a Gusu Lan symbol that WuXian was his fated partner. Then as they carefully stood, WangJi leaned in to kiss WuXian before they both bowed to their attendants, thanks for assisting them and being there for them.

Reception
Following the wedding ceremony itself, the party then moved to the gym car, where the reception and feast were being held. Like the decorations for the wedding, it was also a lot of red and gold. To those who didn’t know beforehand, it would likely be obvious that red and gold here very important.

Lots of food cooked by wonderful volunteers from the train. Of course, there had to be dessert, which was the cake baked by the couple’s son, Lan Sizhui.

As the wedding couple, they were rather happily seated together of course. WangJi had since replaced the forehead ribbon on his head, but there was a high likelihood that sometime during the party WuXian was going to end up wearing it around his wrist.

Wedding Couple at the reception!

The couple is, of course, sitting together and mingling with the guests, never more than a few paces apart and quite probably holding hands. Come and talk to them and give your well-wishes if you would like to!

She's no priestess or even miko, and she knows her formalities need work, but she has been to enough weddings over the years to know that offering a blessing is one of the more sacred gifts a couple can receive.

Eva's outfit is simple, muted reds and silvers with nary a family crest on display, and her hair's been pulled up into a simple bun sans ornaments.

Nita wastes no time in coming to say hello - the Garden car had been too crowded for Nita to get an in-person seat, but she's beaming all the same as she shows up, bowing in what she hopes isn't too deep of one!

"Congratulations, you two! I don't think I've seen anyone on the train this happy before!"

Except maybe Rapunzel and her paints... but that was a different kind of happiness.

Ivy would confess to being surprised when she first saw the lucky couple - a wedding with no bride and two grooms? Well, strange as it may seem, it doesn't even rate in the top ten strangest things she's seen on this train. Besides, what really matters in a marriage is love, and there's no denying that's what these two gentlemen have for each other. Truly, the new world is full of strange and wonderful things.

In the spirit of celebrating things new and old, the only thing to do is to give her regards to the newlyweds. She's in her usual attire - more corporeal fashion tends to just fall through her eventually, so she seldom bothers.

"Allow me to offer my most sincere congratulations! I never would have imagined a wedding on a train. You've made it a more cheerful place for all of us, yourselves most of all."

Merciless was wearing a short and easy to move in red dress she had found. It was not the sort of thing she was accustomed to wearing, but an occasion such as a wedding warranted a more formal outfit.

"Greetings and well met. I do not know either of you, but that was a wonderful ceremony. More brief than the ones I have seen, but still full of beauty. I hope that you do not mind that I only know one blessing for such an occasion. I have led a wedding ceremony only once; it is not one of my standard duties as a priestess."

Even if things had been really strange and scary lately Romeo was really glad he had woken up in the suitcase in time to come to the wedding.

His gift had been a little rushed because he had only had that morning, but he had worked very hard to get it ready in time.

He grinned at them when he saw them and waited until there was a moment they weren't talking to anyone else before skipping forwards. "Congratulations! You both look really pretty!"

There's little fussing when Eva gets ready for this wedding. Oh no. She knows exactly what she's wearing and why. Her chosen outfit is simple; muted reds and silvers with nary a family crest on display, and her hair's been pulled up into a simple bun sans ornaments. Some might claim said outfit is male, but within her culture, it's a traditionally female outfit.

And yes, she will happily point it out to anyone who asks or tries to tell her otherwise.

It's also of note that Princess isn't with her, nor is his pokeball on her person. Cabinmates may have noticed she's left it on her bunk.

That said, those who know her adoration of plant motifs will probably find it a shock there's nothing of the sort with this outfit, and Eva looks amused if it's brought up. "It's not proper as a guest of a wedding."

Otherwise, she's going to enjoy herself. Eat, drink, and mingle.

Nita is also out and about, having found something in the Dressing car that she tolerates. It came with matching shoes, and she has her hair down instead of in a ponytail.

Is she eating? Some, but not all that much - and she's sticking to the non-alcoholic drinks. She won't make that mistake here twice!

"Have you tried these pastry things yet?"

[ It's party time and Bryn's here dressed up in something... passably appropriate for the occasion that she managed to raid from the dressing car. Does she know either of the grooms? Was she actually included in the spirit, rather than the letter, of the invitation that went out a few days ago? The answer to both of those questions is: absolutely not, but there's free food here and you'll have to chase her out with a broom if you want to be rid of her.

She's at least semi-decent enough to congratulate both the grooms before she starts chowing down and it's... kind of impressive the amount of food a girl as comparatively tiny as Bryn can put away?? Has she ever eaten before in her life? We just don't know. But the food and the drink seems to have mellowed her down energy levels a bit from "completely bubbling over" to "gently simmering".

To the unfortunate person who happens to catch her eye, Bryn immediately beams and takes that as an excuse to strike up a conversation. ]

Bailey can't remember the last time they've been to a wedding - it must have been when they were a child, dragged along by their parents. None of the people they knew were quite ready to hop into marriages, not that they know all that many people. Most of their friends are already dead, so, you know, that's not happening. Still, even though they don't know the couple, they want to offer them their well wishes.

They've dressed up for the occasion, with a bird of paradise flower tucked into their hair. They are, at least, wearing flats so they're not even taller than usual. They're enjoying all of the warm, happy feelings coming from everyone, and there's a small smile on their face. Usually, they'd be a wallflower, but, well, they're in a good mood thanks to everyone else's good mood.

They're holding onto a glass, and they seem to brighten as soon as they get close to another person. "This entire thing is lovely, isn't it? Do you think there'll be more weddings or engagements?"

Webmind makes the robot 'screen' display a winking face. He's not nearly dressed up as Bailey is, alas, not having been able to make it down to the Dressing car before the ceremony started, but he doesn't seem bothered by the notion.

Orange isn't an unlucky color for the proceedings, as far as he's aware!

It's a wedding and weddings are lovely, so of course Gwen is going to show up. She's Peter's date, after all, and she's meeting him there after getting dressed and doing her make-up.

Surprisingly, she knows what she's doing and knows how to actually dress like a girl. And she's feeling pretty good about it, too.

Waiting for Peter just outside where the ceremony will be held, she does her best to keep herself from messing with her own hair, waiting...badly. She's bad at waiting, okay? It's just how Spider-Kids are.

If you're anyone she knows, you're greeted with a smile and a small 'hey', and she's willing to talk to basically anyone at this point. Please keep her from losing her mind as she waits for her boy.

It seemed wrong, to have it there in such a contrast. And not just in terms of color.

"Hey, Gwen," she returns, hopefully before the other girl can think too oddly of the show of nerves just now.

"Surprised these clothes are so appropriate, given what happened last time."

This was absolutely Evie's jam. Planning the food, picking out an outfit to wear. She was so for it, and she'd had a blast helping Ignis out in the kitchen before running to the dressing car and grabbing her dress. She was excited to see it. It was almost exactly like something she'd designed and made for herself back home, minus the cape she put on it. And it fit so well. Part of her wondered if it was the same dress from home.

And now she could be found anywhere during the whole thing, watching the ceremony with interest, spending time with people at the reception.

Grab her for a slow dance? Or just come and say hi. Evie's absolutely friendly and will gladly talk to anyone.

"Evie." Ple Two wasn't going to just completely hide in the corner, so... socializing was going to happen. She nodded at Evie, silent for a moment. What should she actually... say...?

"That dress... suits you well." Hopefully her own did as well? She'd rather not look silly, anyways.

Misa OTA

Misa likes weddings. She'd spent a good couple of hours on the couple's hair. She's really proud for how it turned out. Simple hairstyles are always the hardest.

Then, she went and did herself. Her dress is not quite what she'd been looking for - she's still mad about her white dress - but it's very much what she's used to be seen in. She's still plotting out her second auction dress, but that might be on hold.

She stands, waiting for Joss before she goes in. She likes Joss, and he'd asked her to wait. She doesn't fidget, just holds her hands in front of her, and waits. But she'll gladly talk to whoever stops by.

And here is one of the reasons Joss is late, Romeo looks much neater and stylish than he usually ever does. Since Joss had objected to the outfit he had put together and found him a new one. Joss was a good friend! And new way more about clothes than Romeo did.

Zelda lingers near the edges of a party, dressed in a gown of cream and peach with a green Hylian-style apron hanging down from her waist. It... may be a bit much, she admits to herself as she notes the other passengers' clothing choices. Still, this is the first wedding she's attended since childhood and the first ever where she's had to choose her own dress for the occasion. And with her fair hair hanging down her back, she manages to look quite fetching.

If she can manage to look confident with out Sheikah armor and facewrappings, she thinks to herself, people may not even notice that she's more dressed up than most.

She stays near the reception table, a glass clutched in a gloved hand (occasionally, she even takes a sip from it.)Mostly she's content to observe and listen, though sometimes you might catch her humming along to some of the music. Later, someone might realize why- as the party begins to break down she wanders off to slip her ocarina out of her pocket and try to recreate the songs that caught her attention.

Towards the end of reception

Nita's spent quite some time up and about, just enjoying herself and the happy buzz of the party.

And some punch that doesn't have alcohol in.

She's just sat herself down in a chair, sighing and hoping she isn't that tired already, when the soft sounds of the ocarina reach her ears.

Perking up in her seat, she glances about until she finds Zelda.

"That's beautiful," she remarks, a little soft, before she figures it's better to say it closer up given the crowd.

Reluctantly getting up, she walks over to Zelda and repeats her praise.

A wedding. A wedding! Here on an inter-dimensional train that's kidnapped all of them. Is anything mightier than the human spirit? To just go for it regardless?

Ple Two wasn't sentimental, but it was... nice. Seeing two people in love and expressing it under the circumstances was really nice. More than that maybe it reinforced that it's okay to be happy here. Unreservedly.

A recently un-deceased boy had even convinced her to try wearing a dress to fit the mood. Without her military uniform, she didn't have any clear alternatives, after all, and she showed up to just participate. Quietly, a bit off to the side, nibbling on food here and there.

That recently un-deceased boy cleans up pretty well himself and can't help a little bit of pride when he sees that Ple Two had taken his suggestion. Small as he is, he's always bene something of a clothes horse. Being well-dressed is one of the primary occupations of a gentleman, after all.

Persephone has spent half the lead up to the reception fussing over clothing and trying to decide if blessing their marriage is a thing she can even do, let alone should do. Would Hera feel slighted? Would Hera even know or care? It's not like they need fertility blessing, being of the type of relationship where children weren't made in those sorts of means. Not that she's a fertility goddess. But those were the only sorts of blessings she'd been asked for before. How do you even bless a marriage.

This is still unsettled when she walks into the reception, hair decorated with some of the same red peonies she created for the decorations and a few white ones as well. Her dress is modern and as far from the chiton-like ones as she could manage. No use making herself homesick.

Wandering around, poking at nibbles, she keeps glancing at the couple and twisting a napkin in her hands.

.. Wow. Madoka can't help but stare for a moment as she spots Persephone - the other is just so pretty! She already thought Persephone was amazing when she made those flowers grow out of nowhere before, but now she also looks like a total fairytale princess at the wedding reception!

She quickly walks up to the other. They probably look like two puffs of cotton candy standing next to each other, considering Madoka is also wearing a very, very pink dress.

"Um.. hi!" She gives a friendly smile, although there's a hint of worry in it after a moment. "Sorry to ask, but.. are you okay? You look kind of worried.."

Kaito OTA + one for Aoko

Kaito's dressed in a white tuxedo, not QUITE the KID costume - but it is all in shades of white and grey, the only color his bow tie, which is the exact color of Aoko's eyes.

He's happy to chat to all and sundry, and can be mostly found sampling the food like the hungry teenager he is.

But when the dancing starts, he looks for Aoko first - not that he was ever far away.

"Um. So... you... wanna dance?"

Curufin is wandering around the gym in a trim burgundy suit, with his hair neatly braided. He brought his flute to play during the ceremony and after, but at the moment he's carrying it in one hand, and he has a wine glass in the other.

"You're looking dapper, Kaito! The tux suits you." He grins.

Nerdanel | OTA

The Calaquendi of Aman sing still of the beauty of the Two Trees, Silver Telperion and Golden Laurelin, and the memory of them has influenced everything right down to fashion. So Nerdanel comes in gold, the rainbow flames of her husband's house in a pendant around her neck. The jewelry comes all from her husband's hand, deep red gems of their house in earrings and and pendants, with white diamonds in her hair.

She moves like the princess (the High Queen) that she was taught to be, but her laugh is broad and merry and her hands calloused from her work. They match, Feanor and her, two bright flames dancing together. But she's quick to smile with everyone, and will take a turn on the dancefloor, if one is brave enough to ask.

He brought his flute to play during and after the ceremony, but at the moment, he's carrying the instrument in one hand and a wine glass in the other. There's other music playing now, so he looks for other diversions.

And there is Nerdanel dressed in High Elvish style, flashing with red gems and smiling merrily.

"Want to dance, Amil?" he asks, with a smile.

Inigo is super giddy because of the ceremony. Weddings were rare where he's from, after all, so he treasures being able to see something as beautiful and sweet as one all the more. And.. well, okay, maybe he's also just giddy since he's here with his boyfriend, sue him!

Anyone might find Inigo and Yuki standing around the reception in matching outfits. Usually Inigo would be a little quicker to greet people, but right now he seems to not be doing much more than just staring into Yuki's eyes with the dumbest grin on his face. Anyone who wants to approach them is free to do so though.. it's just probably easier to catch Yuki's attention first.

Or maybe you just happen to be nearby at the exact same moment as when Inigo decides it's a great idea to try to handfeed his boyfriend some cake in front of everyone in a giddy fit, which only seems to embarrass Yuki and make Inigo stumble back-- and bump right into you. Whoops. Sure hope you weren't holding anything to eat or drink with everyone wearing these fancy clothes!

Nita misses out on the cake handfeeding - which would have disappointed her, if she'd known it was coming.

But seeing the couple is indeed lovely. And she can't help just a little teasing.

"How are you boys doing today?" she asks, grinning broadly with a small plate of sweets in one hand. "You certainly look like you belong here together."

Thea is sure this whole affair is one big trap set by Eros.

But she's skirting the edges in an off white mini dress she found in the trains idea of a closet. Of course she's keeping her neck very hidden and is not touching a drop or bite of anything, blame the island and its love of "adult fun". But she's trying!

All she needs is a gentle push.

"Thea?" Nita asks, blue-clad wizard walking up to the off-white-clad hero.

"You feeling alright?"

It only seemed fair to ask; the look on her face wasn't quite the usual wallflower expression Nita was familiar with.

"I can get something to drink from the kitchens, if you really want to be sure it's not alcoholic."

She hasn't quite gone that far herself, but if that's Thea's concern she's glad to help.

Ignis was there to assist with the cooking. He, Evie and Madoka made quite the formidable small team as they worked hard to make sure the meal was appropriate and in keeping with their tradition. After all was set up, the advisor decided to go a little formal in his dress and Tony seemed to have followed right along. And of course what was the strategist's life without being told by the leader of the train to hurry up because he was going to miss everything.

During the ceremony itself, Tony had the advisor laughing but the two were trying to keep it quiet. The 'peanut gallery' commenting hadn't stopped from the Iron Man and stifling laughter got a little tougher the more it went on. There were also comments about their own wedding and adding to it were low spoken words about playing dress up later that evening.

Green eyes had raked over Tony's face so many times in silent attempts to stop the mouth running but all in all, the strategist knew it was because he'd been missed. So finally he took the older man's hand which seemed to finally halt the nonsensical banter.

At the reception, the leader of the train is of course the more verbal one though Ignis is right beside him to keep him in check while not looking like he's doing so. So please come say hello to either one of them!

Of course Madoka is inevitably never too far off when her dads are involved. And with so much having gotten right again after the mission - like Ignis and Romeo returning, for one - and even a pretty wedding like this, Madoka is in much higher spirits than she was before. So the girl is smiling widely as she runs up to the two during the reception in her pink dress. She's looking very much like a bouncing cupcake.

"Papa, dad! Wasn't that so pretty?" Apparently she's missed the peanut gallery comments, but.. you know. That's probably for the best. "I really loved it! It's the first time I've seen something like that myself instead of just on TV."

Wow. Who'd have thought people would end up having a wedding on this train? Reigen isn't particularly familiar with the grooms, sure, but seeing the ceremony, it's impossible not to feel a bit warm and fuzzy inside. Ok, he might be a bit of a sucker for real romance regardless of whether he knows the people. Besides, after the last mission, a happy occasion is what everybody needs right now.

Post-ceremony, Reigen is at one of the tables with some cake and what totally isn't soda in a wine glass (look, he knows his alcohol tolerance sucks, he's not going to be that guy who gets embarrassingly drunk at a wedding. Other parties? Debatable, but he has standards when it comes to weddings). He'll chat with anyone who comes up to him, and potentially can be persuaded to dance? Sure!

Curufin doesn't know the grooms really well either, but he volunteered to play his flute at their wedding. "Reigen!" he greets his friend, roommate, and teammate when he sees him sitting at a table. He comes over, sets his flute and glass on the table and sits down beside him. "Are you enjoying the party?"

Xander Woods | Open

Xander...was a little late. The why, however, might be forgiven. It was not his dress, nor was it Cottonball, clinging to his hair as if she were an ornament. It's more because he has a small, blooming
lily in a pot. The flower itself is a brilliant scarlet, and he's found pink and gold ribbons to wrap around his 'present'.

Though he stands around like a doofus for a few moments, because he doesn't know exactly where to put his gift...

In the end, he decided to carry it with him, until the reception, where he places it carefully with the glorious-looking cake. Whoever had made it clearly had taken the utmost of care.

He might even be a bit too careful, as this is the first wedding he's ever been to in his entire life, and the last thing Xander wants to do is mess up...

It's hard to say if the dress or the flower catches Nita's attention first.

"Hey," she greets, voice soft if only in comparison to the crowd.

"That's a really beautiful lily you brought, you know that? I bet they'll love it."

It was the sort of thing the happy new couple deserved.

"But... how are you feeling?"

Because he doesn't look as happy as some.

Bucky's glad he's gotten back in time for this, he hasn't felt so much like himself in decades. He's dressed in the familiar comfort of his formal army uniform and has a big grin plastered on his face, hat tilted a bit to the side in defiance of uniform code. He knows no one is going to call an inspection, and even if they did, he's not an enlisted man anymore, even if he is in the uniform.

There's a bit of swagger in his step, as he warmly greets anyone he knows, and even those he doesn't. He's in the best mood he's been in since arrival, almost like he was before the war.

Curufin, in his slim, burgundy-colored dress suit, walked up to Bucky with a couple of glasses of wine in his hands. He offered one to Bucky.

"You're looking very military today, Bucky!" he said, with a smile.

Best Man & Cake Maker {Open!}

Sizhui is beside himself with joy. His fathers are getting married and that means his family, at long last, is complete. Well, for the most part. He is missing his Wen relations - aside from his dear aunt.

Dressed in gold - a sign of good fortune - he weaves his way in and out of the crowd, beaming from ear to ear.

"Have you tried the cake? It's really good!"

He isn't biased about that at all. Nope. Not one bit. He hadn't spent hours perfecting the recipe and using icing as art.

"Make sure to wish my fathers well!"

They deserve it. After everything they have gone through just to reach this moment, yes. They damn well deserve it.

Curufin, dressed in his burgundy suit and carrying his flute, turns to reply to Sizhui with a smile.

"I have tried the cake. It's delicious! And I've already wished your fathers well. They look very happy. And so do you."
