Day 19 - Time for a Wedding
Who: Lan WangJi, Wei WuXian and anyone else who wants to attend!
Where: Garden carriage and then gym car
When: Day 19 of Egret
What: Wedding! Wedding reception and lots of food.
Warnings: Pretty much up in the air. But there will likely a lot of PDA's from the wedding couple during the reception... because that's how they roll
Finally, it was Day 19, the day that WangJi and WuXian had chosen for their wedding.
Ceremony
Inside the garden, everything had been decorated in red and gold, traditional colors for a wedding in China. There were flowers and a low table set up.
As the ceremony begins, Lan WangJi and Wei WuXian enter with Lan Sizhui and Wen Qing as their attendants. The wedding clothes for WangJi and WuXian are also red, with designs of forest animals in the designs sewn in, including frogs and rabbits. All of this was courtesy of their friendly neighborhood spider. WuXian was also wearing a red veil over his hair and face. Even WangJi’s ever-present forehead ribbon was red today instead of white.
As the pair approached the table, WuXian on one side and WangJi on the other, they alternated bowing to each other three times before kneeling. With the help of their attendants, they each drank a cup of tea, which they used their long sleeves as though hiding that they were doing so behind them. Once they had put the cups down, WangJi reached up, pushing the veil back so that he could see WuXian’s face before removing the forehead ribbon he’d been wearing. Taking WuXian’s hand, he used to make kind of a loose knot between their two wrists, a Gusu Lan symbol that WuXian was his fated partner. Then as they carefully stood, WangJi leaned in to kiss WuXian before they both bowed to their attendants, thanks for assisting them and being there for them.
Reception
Following the wedding ceremony itself, the party then moved to the gym car, where the reception and feast were being held. Like the decorations for the wedding, it was also a lot of red and gold. To those who didn’t know beforehand, it would likely be obvious that red and gold here very important.
Lots of food cooked by wonderful volunteers from the train. Of course, there had to be dessert, which was the cake baked by the couple’s son, Lan Sizhui.
As the wedding couple, they were rather happily seated together of course. WangJi had since replaced the forehead ribbon on his head, but there was a high likelihood that sometime during the party WuXian was going to end up wearing it around his wrist.
[ooc: Mingle post! Feel free to make your own top levels and tag around and have fun. Also, in the picture, ignore the hat for WangJi’s robes. He’s not wearing a hat]

OTA!
Post-ceremony, Reigen is at one of the tables with some cake and what totally isn't soda in a wine glass (look, he knows his alcohol tolerance sucks, he's not going to be that guy who gets embarrassingly drunk at a wedding. Other parties? Debatable, but he has standards when it comes to weddings). He'll chat with anyone who comes up to him, and potentially can be persuaded to dance? Sure!
no subject
"Reigen!" he greets his friend, roommate, and teammate when he sees him sitting at a table. He comes over, sets his flute and glass on the table and sits down beside him. "Are you enjoying the party?"
no subject
"Hey! Looking good, Curufin." He says with a smile. Reigen means it too, you look sharp buddy! "Yeah, it's pretty nice...I don't get to go to weddings that often. Far as I know, most of them aren't on space trains."
no subject
"Say, you're right. Most weddings aren't on space trains! Still, I suppose they're not common in most communities? Not in my world, anyway. And not in either of the other two worlds I lived in. Maybe it's not that easy for people to find lifetime partners?"
no subject
Reigen's expression turns a little more serious at the question about how uncommon weddings are. "Yeah, a lot of times relationships don't last that long. Either you end up not being compatible, or you mess something up somehow. I guess that makes it even more special when two people can exist without distorting each other?" That got...a little cynical, but he doesn't quite seem to notice yet.
no subject
Curufin won't worry about whether Reigen was being cynical when he spoke of the nature of relationships. "Yes, I've noticed that, too. Most relationships don't last. I think it's hard for two human beings to stay together once they've had a chance to get to know each other. Any species of human being, mortals, Elves, whatever. It's so easy to mess things up. So, yes, I agree -- it's very special when two people still want to be together and really understand what it takes to accomplish that. They can give each other the freedom to be themselves, and each still loves the other."
no subject
"Couldn't resist a wedding and food I see." It was just his way of teasing. He hadn't had time to do his usual seeing the blonde man in the morning at the coffee pot in the kitchen for chatting. Prepping and making food for the occasion had obviously taken precedence.
no subject
"Come on, it's rude to turn down this kind of invite. When do you think I'll get to go to a wedding next?" Reigen smirks, half considering whether it's a good idea to keep going, but the opportunity is too tempting. "Well, maybe you know...you're already a family man at this point, right?"
no subject
"No, of course you wouldn't dare be so rude as to turn down a chance to be at a shindig like this one." Again, the tone was joking and conversational, because Ignis couldn't resist. But then he stopped mid drink as he heard Reigen's question and its implication. "By that I take it you're asking when Tony and I will marry.."
Well as it would turn out the blonde was in luck because they'd been discussing that very thing. But he did like the term that the other used. Family man. It wasn't something he ever planned on being or anything like that. He'd consigned himself back home to being in love with a young king who couldn't return those feelings and of course wasn't aware Ignis even had them. Political marriages and overcoming a self sacrificing fate were first and foremost.
no subject
"Ha...I might be? Am I allowed to ask?" He takes a tiny sip of his soda to conceal just how smug he's being. He can't help it! It's a topic he's curious about and one Ignis reacts to! "You're Madoka-chan's dads already, I'm sure she's wondering too. It's adorable."
Jokes aside, Reigen would be happy to see them together. Being able to love someone despite the circumstances and life up until this point...it's sweet, isn't it?
no subject
"Tony was talking of marrying tomorrow."
It wasn't a lie, the so called 'Iron Man' had said as much. But then he went and gave the advisor more time than that. The words spoken weighed heavily though about Madoka. She had to be wondering too? Was she? "And in that case, you can certainly accompany your godchild there in that time don't you think?"
no subject
"Holy shit, you're serious? Jeez, guess I picked a good time to ask--ha, must be my precognitive skills! Sometimes I amaze even myself..." Yes, definitely played that one off well, he thinks. "But yeah, of course I can hang out with my--wait, what?"
How Ignis describes Madoka's relationship to him is much harder to play off. "Are you, um...saying Madoka-chan is..." Reigen gets the sense that this is a serious weight, for someone to be a godfather to someone. A responsibility he's not certain if he deserves, given everything.
no subject
"That is provided you wish to accept of course. No one would force you to or hold it against you if you declined. Tony and I trust you to take care of Madoka should we disappear so that is why the offer is there."
Ignis shook his head and smiled. "But you have time to decide and the wedding itself will actually take place shortly after our next mission."
no subject
He doesn't deserve to, not after he failed her before. Even if it wasn't technically real, what happened was based in reality enough that it counts as a failure to him. He couldn't even tell Ignis about that particular failure either, given what he'd promised.
"Thank you...that's...wow, you really trust me that much, huh?"
no subject
So he was about to turn away when he heard Reigen's question. Something was really off now as if he couldn't tell before. "Do I have reason not to?" After all, the blonde was the man who kept Ignis and Tony's courting a secret.
no subject
"It's not that, I just...well, I guess I'm not used to this sort of thing. I've never been that close to my family." Not a complete lie, but definitely not the first thing on his mind in this situation either.
no subject
"Then you can have time or decline as you will. There's no rush to give an answer." He could feel there was more beneath the surface that Reigen wasn't saying, but he wouldn't pry.
