Day 19 - Time for a Wedding
Who: Lan WangJi, Wei WuXian and anyone else who wants to attend!
Where: Garden carriage and then gym car
When: Day 19 of Egret
What: Wedding! Wedding reception and lots of food.
Warnings: Pretty much up in the air. But there will likely a lot of PDA's from the wedding couple during the reception... because that's how they roll
Finally, it was Day 19, the day that WangJi and WuXian had chosen for their wedding.
Ceremony
Inside the garden, everything had been decorated in red and gold, traditional colors for a wedding in China. There were flowers and a low table set up.
As the ceremony begins, Lan WangJi and Wei WuXian enter with Lan Sizhui and Wen Qing as their attendants. The wedding clothes for WangJi and WuXian are also red, with designs of forest animals in the designs sewn in, including frogs and rabbits. All of this was courtesy of their friendly neighborhood spider. WuXian was also wearing a red veil over his hair and face. Even WangJi’s ever-present forehead ribbon was red today instead of white.
As the pair approached the table, WuXian on one side and WangJi on the other, they alternated bowing to each other three times before kneeling. With the help of their attendants, they each drank a cup of tea, which they used their long sleeves as though hiding that they were doing so behind them. Once they had put the cups down, WangJi reached up, pushing the veil back so that he could see WuXian’s face before removing the forehead ribbon he’d been wearing. Taking WuXian’s hand, he used to make kind of a loose knot between their two wrists, a Gusu Lan symbol that WuXian was his fated partner. Then as they carefully stood, WangJi leaned in to kiss WuXian before they both bowed to their attendants, thanks for assisting them and being there for them.
Reception
Following the wedding ceremony itself, the party then moved to the gym car, where the reception and feast were being held. Like the decorations for the wedding, it was also a lot of red and gold. To those who didn’t know beforehand, it would likely be obvious that red and gold here very important.
Lots of food cooked by wonderful volunteers from the train. Of course, there had to be dessert, which was the cake baked by the couple’s son, Lan Sizhui.
As the wedding couple, they were rather happily seated together of course. WangJi had since replaced the forehead ribbon on his head, but there was a high likelihood that sometime during the party WuXian was going to end up wearing it around his wrist.
[ooc: Mingle post! Feel free to make your own top levels and tag around and have fun. Also, in the picture, ignore the hat for WangJi’s robes. He’s not wearing a hat]

And here she thought she wasn't fashion-focused...
"I hadn't settled in by then, or I'd have offered my hair pins too," she adds. Wryly, she goes on. "Which kinda parallels today nicely; I helped out with the setting up, but I didn't know what to bring for a gift..."
no subject
Curufin wouldn't have pegged Nita as fashion-focused, but clearly she did have good taste. The airy blue dress suited her well and gave her a festive look.
"What, you brought your hair pins when you came to the Voidtrecker? Those might come in handy." He grins, appreciating the wryness. He likes wry humor. "Yes, I thought you might have helped in some way. But don't worry about the gift, you aren't required to bring one. Besides, donating your work is a gift."
no subject
As for the fashion remark, Carmela would be proud to hear anyone say that - if only because that meant Nita had learned something from her!
"Actually, I'm pretty sure they were part of the toiletries. I'm more one for ponytail-holders, myself."
no subject
Curufin would give Nita credit for the fashion decision, even if Carmela were here to insist that it was she who taught Nita.
"Ah, then the hairpins were from the dressing car." He grins. "I didn't look for any for myself, so I didn't notice. But I'd have to add my voice to that! -- ponytail-holders are useful. I've been known to use them. Can't go into battle with hair flying all over the place and getting in the warrior's eyes."
no subject
Nita pauses to think about that one. "I guess you're right."
"Surprised they didn't disappear after the mission or anything, like the rest of the clothes."
Probably because they were ultimately trivial for whoever (or, again, whatever) supplied them.
Nita chuckles, "And ain't that the truth! Zero-G's a bad place for loose hair, too."
no subject
Curufin considers the problem of ponytail-holders and hairpins. "Maybe the train entity forgot them. It seems so intent on not letting us keep the clothing, but maybe it doesn't realize that our hairstyles are just as important to us." Smile.
"Definitely! When we were zooming around in those fighter or transporter craft, wouldn't it have been a disaster if our hair had been floating around the controls?"
no subject
You'd doom them all, Curufin.
"Though a train understanding hair... that would make even less sense, viewed that way."
no subject
They'd all be doomed, DOOMED! DOOMED!!!
"I don't think trains have hair, so how would the Voidtrecker entity understand our deep feelings of attachment to our own hair? Or our fear that it might get in our soup?"
no subject
But she does her best to shake it off, grinning. "Oh it gets in everything, not just soup! And it gets stuck in furniture, too, if you're not careful."
This was the sort of complaining she'd do in a quiet moment at home - not anything major meant by it, but still a personal venting.
It feels good, getting to do it even here. In a strange way, it's kind of heartwarming.
no subject
"Yes, I remember getting my hair stuck in a piece of furniture once! I swear that chair saw me coming and snapped its jaws shut just as I was throwing my very long ponytail back over my shoulder."
no subject
Nita shudders, a deliberate overreaction.
"That is the worst. And then you have to clean up whatever got torn out."
no subject
"True. Those vicious furnitures have a lot to answer for."
Keeping in mind this is before the whole Council stuff. XD
"So, what have you been keeping yourself busy with when you're not on the Network?"
no subject
He grins. "Oh, and of course chores for the month. Wielding a mop and bucket. Keeps my sword arm strong and flexible."
no subject
"Haven't talked to him much just yet, but I know I will. And running into people you know in places like this is always weird."
And she just plain snickers when he mentions chores.
"Oh, big same here. We're doing them for our own sake, really, not even the train's!"
no subject
"I'm sure you'll talk to him again. He really is a cheerful sort, and he's fun to interact with. But you're right, it's weird running into people I know. How does the train select us, anyway??"
He can't help snickering along with her. "Definitely we're doing the chores for our own sake. We just have to be inventive in making up good reasons to do housework."
no subject
"Though as long as our worlds aren't dead, with us as the only survivors, I'll take it."
Definitely more morbid than she'd intended for a wedding-day conversation to go, but there you have it.
"We can always hide each other's snacks!"
no subject
Morbid thoughts aren't foreign to Curufin, but he's always used humor as a restorative.
"Yes! And that would make it necessary to clean the cupboards and vacuum under the beds -- otherwise we'd be unable to see through the junk and the dust in order to find the snacks." Grin.
no subject
Though who knew how things here really worked, anyway?
But the smile comes back to her face. "Yes, exactly!"
Or one only got them back when the work was done for the day.
Want to wrap this one, too?
Yes, who knew how things worked???
But snacks, now, that is an important topic. "Want to go and see what else they have on the refreshment tables? I'm getting hungry again."
Sure! o/ Thank you for the delightful tags.
Pity the Powers - and thus, the Mobiles - had no clue that the Void ministry existed. It'd probably save all those involved so much time...!
"I don't mind it, though. The physics of it are a headache even on good days, but it's worth thinking about all the same."
Nita nods, gesturing with one hand in exactly that table's direction.
"Sounds like a plan to me, Curufin!"
