Event: Abort! Part Two (day 25, Egret). Luggage carriage
They are on world world#27462947582 for about five hours, helping, ushering people out of the city, fighting monsters, keeping guard. All seems well in the city itself, peaceful even except for the slight panic of people being told to move south.
Wherever they are, north in the desert, travelling through the countryside to the south or still in the city itself they will notice from their peripheral vision a darkening of the sky. Looking up they will see clouds. Strange clouds, appearing in the blue sky out of nowhere.
Their SCA’s start beeping, rapidly, flashing red. The clouds are too weird to be clouds, dark shapes in the sky. It might be that the Voidtreckers heed the warning and tap their SCA to evacuate to the train. It might be that they do not.
If they don’t then there is a moment, a moment of absolute stillness as those around them notice the shapes. A confused pause. Children stop their chatter, people stop their complaining, even the monsters seem to sense something and pause in their attacks.
The remaining voidtreckers are yanked away, even without pressing their SCA, they glow gold and disappear.
They all appear in the luggage carriage and not even a second later, with no warning the train lurches, flinging everyone off their feet as it enters the void.
It’s not really easy to tell speed in the void, but they will get the sense that they are moving fast. Faster than before, leaving that world and whatever those shapes were behind.

He sat down and let her make the tea, as ordered. He knew when to let someone ride herd on him.

"Good." She smiles a little wistfully at the memories. "Turukano was such a shy child! I am glad he had friends to stand by him."
She sets the kettle to boil and scoops out the tea leaves into the pot.
"Even now, I can scarce imagine what life for you must have been like. I hope, at the least, that you had some joy?"
no subject
"That's how our Houses were named, you know. After what we were put in charge of." This time he laughed. "Thank you, by the way. I just realized why my first instinct when I arrived here was to go to the Greenhouse and plant flowers!"
no subject
She asks, interested, and laughs. "Well, if you fill the greenhouse with golden flowers, leave some place for the Lady Persephone!"
no subject
"I have only filled three plots, my lady! And I have the utmost respect for Lady Persephone. Doesn't she remind you a bit of Vána?"

"You are... worried for her?"
no subject
no subject
"Yes, I know her. She had no way to convey a name, so we had many for her. I believe Peter called her Charlotte, and my Maitimo had another name for her."
[Let's pretend I used the correct name of Komoko earlier, shall we?]
lol it's fine I forgot myself sob and I can't remember what the elves were calling her before either

"Perhaps. Although I sometimes wonder if Ungweliantë was more than just another Fallen Ainur, and if She was... something other. But Kumoko... she feels young to me, and so very curious about the world."

Just like elflings.

"I think the dough has rested enough," he said. He looked around the kitchen. "Where would you put a rolling pin, if you were designing such a space?"
no subject
"I would hang it over the bench!" She laughs. "Although I suspect that is not a good idea, in a moving conveyance. Shall we check the drawers?"
no subject
It only took a couple of minutes and not quite all the drawers to find it. He washed it off and dried it, then covered his work surface in flour again.

Nerdanel helps him look.
"Should I get the oven ready? Will you need a tray or bowl?"
no subject
He got out the dough and the butter and started the folding and rolling.
It took awhile to get the layers made, then he set it aside.
"I should have made the filling while we waited." He shook his head at himself.
no subject
"Oops. Well, I can help you with that, maybe?"
no subject
He started blending together the cream cheese and the sugar, beating it until it was silky smooth.
no subject
"A lot of different ingredients in this dish!"
