Fiddlesticks, Day 3, OTA
Who: Glorfindel, OTA
Where: Various locations, hopefully will contain hooks for Kaito, Lan Wanji, Sarai (and Komoko), and whomever *cough*Feanor*cough* might want to interact with him.
Kitchen - Sarai specific
Glorfindel was more than a little nervous. It was one thing to say he was going to make friends with a giant spider, and another thing entirely to do it. But he'd had no premonitions that this would be a Bad Idea, plus, he'd get to make cookies, so he was determined to see this through. He was a little early, however, so he made himself a cup of tea and waited for Sarai to arrive.
Greenhouse - OTA
Glorfindel stared in fascination at the small patch of bamboo that he'd planted here. He was actively encouraging it to grow, but he was starting to wonder if that was such a good idea. He was no Persephone, able to bring a plant from seedling to fruiting in mere moments, but the bamboo didn't seem to know that. It was already two feet high and visibly growing. He had promised wood for Alex for a small loom, and for practice weapons, and perhaps maybe find one or two bits appropriate to make some flutes.
"We might end up with extra wood," he said aloud.
Music Lessons - Lan Wangji
Glorfindel checked the time on his wrist amulet again, then finally knocked on the door to Cabin 1:B. He'd arranged to meet here with Lan Wangji and go to discuss and perhaps actually start, guqin lessons. He was quite excited about the prospect.
Dining Car - OTA
Glorfindel picked up the cups and dishes once he'd properly disposed of the trash and carried them over to the dumbwaiter. Either another member of Team Purple would find them upstairs and wash them, or he'd go up after finishing down here and do it. Either way, keeping the train clean was Team Purple's job this month. He started wiping down the tables, humming as he worked. Though even so, his movements were careful enough that the bell at his belt did not ring.
He looked up as the door into the car opened.
Wildcard - Open
(Where do you want to find Glorfindel? Outside the shower? In the Stores? Looking confused at the Cinema? Got a pet that likes to nap next to the sun? Let me know!)

Greenhouse
But that was another story altogether. 47 was tending to his plants whenever he heard Glorfindel's idle comment. He stood up and looked over at the bamboo.
"We can always find uses for the extra wood," 47 commented. And bamboo was a good type of wood to use for many different things.
Re: Greenhouse
He stood up. He had his sword with him, which he unsheathed and lopped off a two foot length with a quick careful cut and examined it more closely.

If there was one thing the assassin knew about it was deadly toxins. One of the great things about many Asian cultures was their odd love of deadly foods that could easily kill them if prepared incorrectly. So what did the hitman do when someone's favorite food was poisonous if eaten before detoxified? Well, it was obvious wasn't. It made his job easy.
"Bamboo is widely used for many products. It's not an entirely bad plant to grow. Just be mindful it doesn't spread too much or it will take over the entire greenhouse." That, too, depended on the species but it was still a bit of a concern. Though if it did start to become a nuisance 47 could always offer Glorfindel one of the garden boxes to replant it and tame it with. It's what he and Sarai had done to the other highly invasive species of plants that were useful.

Glorfindel nodded. "I will let those with more knowledge than I do the cooking, then. My talents lay in other areas." He leaned over to where there was a flat tray of shrivelled reddish brown things and offered one to 47. "Dried strawberry?"
"I will grow it to specifications, and cull the rest, then. I wouldn't want an entire greenhouse of it." Glorfindel was correct to treat it like chives then. Good to know.
wildcard, cinema! hope this works
Cheery and inviting, it's a voice that pipes ups after Glorfindel enters the cinema, quiet for one of the first few times since it's appeared. Tidus stands by the large screen in a purple team hoodie, an ICP visible in front of him if seen from an angle.
He gives a distracted look once over his shoulder, just to confirm someone's still in the room than passing through to one of the other carriages, but returns to poking at the ICP.
Re: wildcard, cinema! hope this works
"I would be grateful for your guidance," he told the other blond. "We do not have any such thing on my world."
"My name is Glorfindel, by the way."
no subject
"Tidus, nice to meet you!" he offers back, before pointing a forefinger at the screen. "You know about plays? They're like them. Everything's recorded so you can go back and watch them whenever. They're all sorted by name here, but if you pick one like this..."
He taps the screen, and an image accompanies a small synopsis, along with the runtime. Up on the screen is Star Hunter.
"See this? It gives you an idea of the movie. Or you can click it to go back--there."
Tidus shows where to push, but he won't do it himself, in case the man is still examining the screen and reading the text--and if he wants to try it himself!
no subject
"I understand there are all sorts," he said, reading the synopsis of the one on screen. "Is this one you are interested in?"
no subject
But with that said, Tidus looks back at Glorfindel, at the movie title on the ICP.
"What about you? You wanna watch it? I can help you find something else. You into dramas? Romance?"

No lie I almost thought that was Thranduil in that icon before I looked closer lol
Kaito's almost entirely silent - not quiet enough to get past an elven warrior, but if Glorfindel knows anything about normal humans, he's much quieter than a teenage boy should be.
(lucky for Kaito all the humans Glorfindel knows are Dunedain probably)
"DUDE. Are you wearing a bell?"
Re: No lie I almost thought that was Thranduil in that icon before I looked closer lol
He sighed and sat on one of the benches. "I got it so I would make noise when I walk, so I wouldn't sneak up on people. It has not been terribly effective. How do you manage when you want to be heard?"
[He had noticed that Kaito was as silent as a Dunedain, which is a compliment, if he ever says it out loud.]
no subject
It is an extremely useful word!
He grins at the thought of the elf wanting to be heard when walking and then for a split second when Glorfindel says that, he almost looks shocked.
Almost.
But then he's laughing cheerfully.
"When I want to be heard? Man I don't know, I just walk? It's fun to sneak up on people sometimes, sure, but I'm no ninja to be prowling around."

Greenhouse
Drizzt headed down to the Greenhouse car presently, eager to get started. His curiosity had, indeed, quite nearly been the death of him, but it didn't stop his need to learn and experience new things. For one, he had no idea what 'bamboo' was other than a type of wood, and he arrives in time to hear Glorfindel's comment. He follows the elder elf's gaze to the growing cluster, eyes widening somewhat.
"Is this...Persephone's doing?" Was there another on the train capable of making plants grow so quickly?
Re: Greenhouse
"You are just in time, though, we have some excellent lengths to practice with." He stood up, bowed at the stand, then swiftly drew his sword, sliced two of the trunks off, and returned his sword to its sheath. Then he caught the now poles, one in each hand. *Thank you for this* he told the plant. *We appreciate your gift.*
Re: Greenhouse
He'd never met a druid, but he was told they have similar roles in nature of rangers, protecting wild places and culling impurities, only on a more esoteric level.

Kitchen
Though she paused a moment, to think out loud. "Charlotte is fond of anything sweet, really, but maybe some sort of chocolate chunk, as that's a bit more special..." At least to Sarai, chocolate on Hydaelyn was a bit more difficult to come by than it was on the train...
Re: Kitchen
"And I agree that Chocolate is special."
Re: Kitchen
"As a Warrior of Light blessed by Hydaelyn Herself, I have...an ability to see into another's soul, I suppose you might call it. Really, I've been told at its highest potency, what we call the Echo breaks down the barriers between souls..."
Her brow furrowed a little bit. In private, Minfilia Warde had always said that to the common folk, talk of a power like the Echo could be terrifying. She generally didn't speak of it--oh, she'd told Tony about it, but only because he'd experienced it--not that Sarai had had any intent for the Echo to afflict her during the argument they'd been having.
She coughed a little. "It doesn't happen often, and this part is never under my control, but I can at times see other people's past. One of the Echo's most basic powers, however, is that the Echo means I have no language barriers. I can always tell what someone means, even if we don't speak the same language--or a sentient being can't truly speak at all. But that's how I know Charlotte isn't a being like you've experienced before. I've literally spoken to her."
That and Sarai honestly finds the spider much like a sweet girl who just happens to be in a spider's body.
Feeling a bit awkward, now, the Au Ra busies herself with bringing out cookie ingredients, giving Glorfindel a sheepish smile. "And here I am, talking your ear off!"
Re: Kitchen
He thought about what she said. "May I say three things?"
"First, thank you, you have completely relieved my mind about Charlotte and I will do my best to be someone she can rely on as well," he said with a smile.
"Second, what you describe is similar to some Elven abilities, though it varies depending on the individual, of course. But in all honesty, I think you would be comparable to Galadriel, who is held in great esteem by the Elves of Middle Earth for just such reasons. She has a ring that allows her to control her abilities that Curufin's son made. Aside from the other two who bear matching rings, there are no stronger in my world." He was still smiling. "I respect your abilities and if you ever need assistance or just a refuge, please think of me as a friend."
"Third," he looks more serious, but there is a distinct twinkle in his eyes, "it's been nearly 5000 years since I was reborn. I sincerely hope you never see my past, as it would likely take forever, even sped up, and you might find portions of it quite boring." He nodded and sighed, looking like this would be the worst bit, that she would get bored.
Then he grins again. "I have never heard of a Warrior of Light, aside from that being what Lindir occasionally refers to me as when he is at his most poetic! Well met, my lady." He gives her a courtly bow.
Music Lessons
When he heard the knock, he rose and opened the door. "Glorfindel," he gave a nod that was a half-bow before he stepped back and gestured for him to enter.
Re: Music Lessons
"Thank you," he said, "I appreciate this a lot. A new instrument is...a miracle to me."
no subject
"It is not a problem. The guqin is a standard instrument amongst the Gusu Lan sect. Most of our juniors know how to play it."
He retrieved it from its position by the wall. "As long as my cabin mates are out, I think this will be a good place."
no subject
He knew from previous experiences that some teachers liked to jump right in, and others liked to give a history lesson first, and yet others went over construction. He was curious how Lan Wanji would start.
