A Fluffy New Friend
Who: Lan WangJi and you!
What: WangJi has a new pet and is showing it around the train
Where: Greenhouse, Dining room, around
When: Fiddlesticks 17 and 18
Warnings: fluff? literal and figuartive
WangJi was happy. How could he not be when the best husband he could ask for gifted him with a white rabbit. Rabbits were his favorite and he liked them. Now he had one of his own.
Of course, he wouldn't be a responsible pet owner if he didn't show his pet around the train so it could be used to the accommodations... and the fact that their home moved even though most of the time it wasn't too noticeable.
But he could easily be found around on arrival day with the rabbit safely tucked in his arms, still clearly visible so it could look around and see and greet others.
Prior to mealtime, WangJi could be found in the dining car sitting at one of the tables, letting the rabbit stretch its legs for a few minutes and look around. Yes, the rabbit was on the table, but he wasn't letting it out of arms reach just in case. Luckily, it seemed more content to just sit for the moment.
Where the rabbit was most happy was in the garden car. It had the chance to run around a bit in there and as long as it stayed away from the plants other passengers were growing, WangJi let it explore and walk on its own though he was not far away to make sure it didn't get anything it shouldn't.

Dining Car

He was normally very stoic, but someone could easily suspect that he looked rather happy about having a rabbit. He did like them.
The rabbit sat up on its hind legs for a moment as it sniffed the air before it went back to walking on the table, WangJi careful to make sure it didn't go too far away.

"Huh. It's cute. Didn't know you liked rabbits." He comes closer, tapping the table to see if he can attract the rabbits attention.
"Didja keep rabbits at home?"
no subject
"I do like rabbits. I had a warren of rabbits on the back mountain in the Cloud Recesses."
no subject
Kaito grins as the bunny comes over, moving slowly to scritch.
"A whole warren? That's pretty cool. I've used rabbits in tricks before, but my particular gimmick is doves."
no subject
"Yes. There were at least a couple dozen rabbits in the warren. Doves?"
no subject
"Yep!" He grins and snaps his fingers, and a dove appears on his shoulder.
"This is Aoi - she normally stays with Aoko but since Aoko had to... go home, Aoi is still here, so... "
no subject
WangJi blinked in surprise as a bird suddenly appeared on his shoulder. "Amazing..."
He had at least learned not to ask how he did that. The rabbit couldn't see the bird from that angle but looked curiously at him for snapping his fingers.
no subject
"She's pretty well trained! A magician's bird has to be. If you want her to come over to you, just snap your fingers once."
no subject
"I would imagine they would have to be well-trained."
There was a pause as WangJi watched Aoi and the rabbit before he decided to test it out and snapped his fingers.
no subject
"Yep! Gotta be quite careful about their temperament and health."
no subject
WangJi smiled, looking at the bird out of the corner of his eye as it played with his hair.
"Especially when they are around people who are not used to them while doing their trick."
no subject
"Exactly. Aoi's one of my older birds - Aoko helps me look after them anyway, but Aoi has known her since hatching, and is normally really attached."
no subject
“I see. So Aoi thinks Aoko as a family member?”
no subject
"When you want her to get down, by the way, you can just tap the table twice."
no subject
"It would make sense that she was family to the bird if she had been around since they were born."
After a few more moments, he did tap the table twice for the bird to come down.
no subject
"Yeah! Aoi's the only one who is that attached though - not sure why exactly, but at least it means that I always knew Aoko had company. Well. Until now, I guess..."
Aoi perks up at the tap and walks down his arm and onto the table, where she fluffs contentedly and settles down.
no subject
So cute.
"And Aoko was with the others since they hatched as well?"
no subject
Bird and Bun, sitting fluffily on the table!
"Pretty much." He nods. "Although she oy saw Aoi actually hatch. Maybe he thinks she's his mother?"
no subject
"It is possible. I've heard animals that come from eggs tend to believe the first thing they see is their mother."
no subject
"That's true. Maybe that's why! I'm kinda surprised Aoi decided to stay with me instead then."
no subject
"Perhaps that shows Aoi considers you family as well even though Aoko is perferred."
no subject
"That, or he was hungry." He says wryly. "I'm the one who feeds him!"
no subject
Little Rabbit yawned before snuggling up even more. It has been a long day for a small rabbit.
no subject
"Yeah, Aoi is the same." He agrees. "Most of my doves are really well trained, but they're definitely food motivated!"
