Movie Night!

What: Sports anime movie night with popcorn!
Warnings: There shouldn't be! But I will add if anything comes up

POP, POPPOPPOP...

As announced by Romeo earlier that day, the cinema car has been prepared for a night of anime sports. There isn't much different at first glance, but by first whiff, those who recognise the smell of freshly popped popcorn may detect the new addition to the carriage before they see it set up on a table by the back wall.

There's a soft whirring with the faint pop, poppoppop of the corn kernels, which thankfully isn't that intrusive to the ears as most popcorn machines. Salt and sugar shakers sit next to bowls for people to take and dish out their own popcorn, as well as bottles of cinnamon and mixed (sweet) spice. Also, there's even paprika and hot chilli bottles right next to each other. Who put those there? Please shake sparingly. Or don't. It's your tastebuds on the line.

Jugs of juice from the kitchen have been set out with plastic cups for those looking for a drink, as well as a simple collection of chocolate chip cookies. There may or may not be enough for all, but probably not.

The entertainment won't start right away, so take this time to chat with one another!

BORN TO REVIEW

For this 'sports night', 4 episodes of an anime called Born To Blitz are being played, a comedy movie called Swing-It Like Seccam, and to finish it off, a sports-themed mystery of the beloved franchise Magical Detective Heartlines!

Born To Blitz is your standard sports highschool anime, but with a diverse extraterrestrial species and set on a 'coastal city' where all the buildings are domes. It's quick to lay out the story of its hero, Fax Qincan, who is trying out for the school's competitive blitzball team so that he can get a reputation and one day be a real blitzball professional. He gets a spot by the second episode (unfortunately, beating out his best friend for a place on the team), and now he must start his vigorous training before the school competitions start!

The live-action Swing-It Like Seccam is a similar deal, if less intense and offering more laughs! Follow Arla as she inspires to become a professional ping-pong player like her hero Seccam, but also as she has to deal with a disapproving family who don't take her dreams seriously. Touching towards the end, it can be confusing now and then due to a lot of pop culture references popular in Miyoon in the year 6k20nb.

And last but not least is Magical Detective Heartlines: Goal In Life, an anime movie of the beloved Heartlines as she solves her latest case in all her 80s style anime glory! Famous hoverball player--a sports played on hoverbikes that also bash around the animated balls into goals--Missie is being threatened to throw in their biggest game yet, or risk the life of their snatched beloved! It's up to Heartlines to find the culprit--but can she do it before the end of the match?

Of course she does, but not without suspense and the game being stretched out at the risk of Misse's life as well! And with a bop of a soundtrack, and plenty of glittery sequences. And let's not forget the magical girl transformation scenes. Romeo will show you the moves.

And with that, the Sports Night is over with, and what you do is ultimately up to you. Talk about the selection? Something else? Are you the sort of person who can't imagine leaving a mess, or are you rushing off with familiar faces?

Or maybe it'll be nice to go for a watch to stretch your legs, even get a drink. It's late, but the coffee and tea machines are what, only twenty-five carriages away, surely.

Just remember not to stay up too late! Got to avoid the void sickness.

( OOC: It's a fun little mingle! Have your characters bring their own food and snacks, cause some mischief, complain or be too loud. :) There will be small breaks between each showing and the blitz anime will be the same length as the movies altogether (so about 20 mins a piece).

"Oh! So that is why..." she stated as she shook her head slightly.

"I haven't seen it yet no, but that is partly why I am standing here now."

"Oh you can look here." He pointed, "Do you want to put some of the kernels in?"

Romeo had never seen a popcorn machine until the day before, but he was happy to teach Rapunzel!

She nodded slightly, admittedly rather excited to see how it all worked.

"So do you pour it in first?"

"Yes!" He nodded, "You pour it in this bit." He pointed to where the kernels went in and then stepped back so she could try it out!

Rapunzel looked at the area where they were to go in. It seemed really easy and excitedly she picked up some of the kernals and slowly put some in.

"There we go, I did it. So now we just...wait. I assume?"

"Yes! Just wait! And listen!" His eyes are wide. Like he is about to show her the greatest magic trick.

And he is. Because popcorn is amazing. The kernels heat up and very soon a popopop sound can be heard and popcorn starts filling up the container on the front.

Rapunzel was watching the whole time and when the noise finally started she clapped her hands excitedly. It was amazing at least to the teenager.

"Look at it go. All popping and changing into something else. It's really amazing."

Isn't it so cool! Romeo bounced excitedly by the machine, he's glad to find someone who finds it as great as he does.

"Isn't it cool! And now!" Now! He gestures at the handle, so she can open the compartment and fill up her bowl with tasty popcorn!

She looked at the handle for a moment. "Do I just open it or do i put something close by. I worry the popcorn might escape or something."

[myblueskies]

"Yeah you gotta put a bowl there!" He grabbed one and handed it over. "So it doesn't all run away! Popcorn is tricky, it goes everywhere!"

And could make quite a mess! It's going to be a job to clean all this up after the films finish!

"Popcorn just pops everywhere." It wasn't a great joke or anything, but it amused her. Going to put the bowl down she soon slowly opened it letting the popcorn go into the bowl. No one escapes. All is good.

"There we go, popcorn for people's eating pleasure."

"It does! It's very poppy!"

She's a good popcorn catcher though and he grins as she is victorious in catching a bowl of popcorn!

"It looks yummy! So now you gotta chose what to put on it!"

"But...there are a lot of choices." Which means it's hard to decide what to put on. Sweet, Spicy? Third Choice? There were quite a few.

"What would your opinion be?"

[myblueskies]

There were so many choices! It was very tricky. But!

"If it's your first time having popcorn then you should have something sweet on it! That way tastes so yummy! Then afterwards you can experiment!"

Said with absolute confidence, like tonight hadn't been the very first time he had eaten popcorn himself!

"So the sweet option it is." Even though she was rather nervous about doing this because she didn't want to put too much on it, but at the same time she didn't want to put too little either.

Soon as she grabbed it she gently tipped it over, but not enough to accidentally put to much in. She was tipping it in small amounts.

"Is that enough?"

[myblueskies]

"I think so!" He nodded, "But the best way to check is to taste it! If it is not sweet enough you can add some more!"

Then soon the popcorn will be perfect!

"Okay then I guess I will try it." She was admittedly a little nervous as she slowly,ly brought up the popcorn goodness towards her lips and took a bite. She paused for a few moments before she gives it the thumbs up.

"It's perfect."

Romeo grinned the biggest grin. "I'm glad! Now you have the yummiest popcorn!"

First popcorn experience was a success!

"Do you want some of this one?" she asked holding it out with a smile.

[myblueskies]

"Yes please!" He took a piece with a big grin, a grin that grew even larger at the sweetness.

"It is perfect! Now you are ready to watch the films!"

She nodded slightly before pausing.

"What films are they if I can ask, or do you not know?"

[myblueskies]

"We are going to watch Born to Blitz! Except that's four episodes and not a big film. Then we are going to watch Swing-it like Seccam and then Magical Detective Heartlines: Goal In Life!"

He's very excited for all three, but especially the last!

"Those all sounds awfully interesting." She didn't know what they were about but that was probably why she was so excited.

"I should go find a good spot then"

"Yes!" He nodded, "Find a good space to sit so you can watch!"

It was going to be so fun!

She nodded slightly, excited for what they might be seeing. She didn't know what to expect, but that also made it a good thing.

At the end of the day she just wanted to enjoy herself and maybe learn something too.
