BORN TO REVIEW
END OF FILM REEL...
( OOC: It's a fun little mingle! Have your characters bring their own food and snacks, cause some mischief, complain or be too loud. :) There will be small breaks between each showing and the blitz anime will be the same length as the movies altogether (so about 20 mins a piece).
Also full disclaimer, Ree wrote this! All credit goes to her!)
As announced by Romeo earlier that day, the cinema car has been prepared for a night of There's a soft whirring with the faint pop, poppoppop of the corn kernels, which thankfully isn't that intrusive to the ears as most popcorn machines. Salt and sugar shakers sit next to bowls for people to take and dish out their own popcorn, as well as bottles of cinnamon and mixed (sweet) spice. Also, there's even paprika and hot chilli bottles right next to each other. Who put those there? Please shake sparingly. Or don't. It's your tastebuds on the line.
Jugs of juice from the kitchen have been set out with plastic cups for those looking for a drink, as well as a simple collection of chocolate chip cookies. There may or may not be enough for all, but probably not.
The entertainment won't start right away, so take this time to chat with one another!
BORN TO REVIEW
- For this 'sports night', 4 episodes of an anime called Born To Blitz are being played, a comedy movie called Swing-It Like Seccam, and to finish it off, a sports-themed mystery of the beloved franchise Magical Detective Heartlines!
Born To Blitz is your standard sports highschool anime, but with a diverse extraterrestrial species and set on a 'coastal city' where all the buildings are domes. It's quick to lay out the story of its hero, Fax Qincan, who is trying out for the school's competitive blitzball team so that he can get a reputation and one day be a real blitzball professional. He gets a spot by the second episode (unfortunately, beating out his best friend for a place on the team), and now he must start his vigorous training before the school competitions start! The live-action Swing-It Like Seccam is a similar deal, if less intense and offering more laughs! Follow Arla as she inspires to become a professional ping-pong player like her hero Seccam, but also as she has to deal with a disapproving family who don't take her dreams seriously. Touching towards the end, it can be confusing now and then due to a lot of pop culture references popular in Miyoon in the year 6k20nb.
And last but not least is Magical Detective Heartlines: Goal In Life, an anime movie of the beloved Heartlines as she solves her latest case in all her 80s style anime glory! Famous hoverball player--a sports played on hoverbikes that also bash around the animated balls into goals--Missie is being threatened to throw in their biggest game yet, or risk the life of their snatched beloved! It's up to Heartlines to find the culprit--but can she do it before the end of the match?
Of course she does, but not without suspense and the game being stretched out at the risk of Misse's life as well! And with a bop of a soundtrack, and plenty of glittery sequences. And let's not forget the magical girl transformation scenes. Romeo will show you the moves.
END OF FILM REEL...
- And with that, the Sports Night is over with, and what you do is ultimately up to you. Talk about the selection? Something else? Are you the sort of person who can't imagine leaving a mess, or are you rushing off with familiar faces?
Or maybe it'll be nice to go for a watch to stretch your legs, even get a drink. It's late, but the coffee and tea machines are what, only twenty-five carriages away, surely.
Just remember not to stay up too late! Got to avoid the void sickness.

This is likely the last place he wants to be, but Kaiba has a job to do here. He's dressed in his casual outfit from Kumoko, blue tunic and black slacks, silver scarf tucked behind his back, and settling awkwardly into a seat.
He adds a little kick to his popcorn and settles down, inclining his head at their hosts.
"Evening."

Watching these characters pour their souls into their sport is...something else. The passion! The drama! Everything riding on the last goal! It's exhausting. And familiar too.

[ Popcorn hand out! ]
But enough about feeling incredibly old at 17 (nearly 18!!!) There's a popcorn machine rattling with away with treats, and before the real start of the show, Tidus is there to hand out the small bowls of popcorn, but not without nodding his head to the flavours:
"What's your taste? Plain, sugar or salt? Sorry, couldn't drag the butter down--we didn't know how to keep it melted down here!"
And Tidus isn't going all the way to the kitchen from the cinema car, ok....
[ Movie Viewing ]
Unfortunately for anyone next to him, Tidus is the commentary extra on your DVD, though he knows to mostly keep his voice down. For Born To Blitz he's a total critic of the moves made, scoffing as he remarks, "There's no way you'd get a foul for kicking the other team in the face! That's part of the game!", but also conceding during a slow-mo dramatic shoot for the goal, "Okay, yeah, it does feel like that...man...."
[ In-Between ]
And of course he's here to chat to the other people after every movie, asking, "So, what did you think?" conversationally. And as for his feelings on any particular movie and the four anime episodes...
Born To Blitz: "It's not as fun to watch to as the real thing, but it's alright. But the moves are good, right? And seeing people moving in water? What do you think about the sports?"
Only some though!!Swing-It Like Seccam: "I can't believe cheesy comedies like that exist on more worlds. What's wrong with ping-pong anyway?"
Magical Detective Heartlines: Goal In Life: "It's way too sparkly for me. ...but okay, I'm gonna have some of the tunes stuck in my head."
[ Movie End ]
But after Magical Detective Heartlines: Goal In Life is done, nodding to people and asking the polite, "Hey, you enjoy yourself?", but requesting sometimes, "Say night to Romeo before you leave--he was really looking forward to this."
Also, it's nice. Be nice to the kid.

Romeo is so excited! He and Tidus had been planning all day for this evening. He greats everyone who enters the cinema, even if they don't seem like they are actually here for the movie night!
"Would you like popcorn! It's really tasty! Mister Tidus says you can put all of these things on it!"
Putting things on popcorn, that was new. Actually popcorn in general was relatively new! But it was yummy and a great addition to films!
During the Films
Apologies for those who prefer a quiet, peaceful cinema experience. No one has taught this child cinema etuquette. So he is up and down from his seat constantly, dancing along to the theme tunes, exclaiming loudly at the more exciting scenes.
"Did you see that? I didn't think they would win at all!" That had been such a close Blitzball match!
"Wow! Her mum is mean! Why she got to be mad at her for following her dreams!" Was that what mothers were like? The family drama parts of Swing-It like Seccum are about the only parts where he is quiet, watching the screen in almost quiet fascination.
"Oh! Look! It's the transformation! We got to twirl now!" Twirl with him! It's all in the footwork! Unless you are eleven and had far too much sugar and then... he's mostly just spinning and giggling.
Ending
He is a dutiful boy and so makes an effort to tidy up towards the end of the viewing, it's very late though and so by the time people are ready to leave he can be found half asleep in one of the chairs, a happy smile on his face.

Guilt-free fun was something she hadn't expected to feel, so soon after Xue Yang and Wester's trial. It was... nice.

Rapunzel was just staring at everything that was in front of her, even for a moment she leaned in just to take a closer look at it all. Just what was it and just how did it change the corn? It went in with little seeds and came out completely different.
"So...I know this is what people call...popcorn...Which Oh! I get why it's called that... I think."
She is still staring as she watches it come out popped. "This is truly amazing."
Inbetween
Inbetween watching everything Rapunzel just seemed happy and seemingly enjoying what she was seeing, although admittedly she does have a lot of questions she really wants to ask, but instead she looked around at everyone.
"Hey, this whole thing is great so far, don't you think?"

The scent of fresh popcorn lured him in like a mouse to cheese (or whatever mice actually liked if it wasn't cheese). He hadn't had popcorn in a long while and he immediately took some for himself, cramming a handful into his mouth. If anyone approached him, he nodded and attempted to say hello, except it came out as muffled noises, and he was kind enough to keep his mouth shut while he finished chewing.
"Sorry, hi."
b. Born to Review
He really wasn't into sports in the slightest, but he surprisingly got into the things they watched, and he ended up hooked on the Heartlines movie, leaning forward in his seat without even realizing it.
"Dude," he said, at least keeping his voice down. "I gotta admit, I'm a sucker for glitter." And the glittery sequences appealed to him.
c. End
Yawning, Dyme stretched when the last movie was finally over. He'd had a good time, and he was way too pumped to go to bed just yet.
"That was surprisingly good," he said. "All of it. Not that I expected anything to be bad, I'm just not a sports guy."

Or so Tidus is going to assume. But Romeo would be thrilled for fellow Magical Detective Heartline enthusiasts.

Alice hates social gatherings, but on the other hand.. she has found that she does enjoy the movies. The ones that aren't as ridiculous, anyway. And she definitely does want to try some of the popcorn, so she'll drag herself out of her hermit habits and actually get over to the cinema carriage.
But that doesn't mean she's here to make friends. As soon as she's gotten some popcorn, she's making sure to find a seat in the very back of the carriage. Curled up in the seat and with the hood of her hoodie pulled up, she looks very much like your typical goth high school kid sitting by herself.
Maybe you manage to recognize her sitting there by herself, or maybe someone looking like they don't want to be approached is exactly what makes you approach someone..
.. or maybe you're just so horrified by the sheer ridiculous amount of sugar she's poured on top of her popcorn that you just have to say something about it. That just can't be healthy.
(2. during the movies)
At least Alice looks.. fairly engrossed by the movies, despite the subject material not necessarily always interesting her. Moving pictures are just new and relatively fun, okay. Even though being able to sit here and calmly watch them is weird. Definitely not the kind of life she ever thought she'd have.
And sure. Maybe she's getting just a little bit into Heartlines. Even enough to speak up mid-movie.
"What a despicable villain."
(3. closed to duo!)
But while moving images are pretty fascinating, there are some slightly more boring or cliched parts of the story that Alice can't pay as much attention to. It's exactly then that her gaze drifts off towards the carriage they're in instead, her eyes idly looking over the other people present watching the movie..
.. until she spots a familiar face in the same row as her, but on the opposite side. Like said familiar face had a very similar idea about sitting by themselves in a corner.
For a moment it makes Alice wonder if maybe Duo might not want the company right now. But then she notices the way his head lulls slightly to the side, almost as if he's about to fall asleep, and it's that small thing that makes her actually stand up, grab her popcorn and scoot her way over across the row until she just flops down onto the seat next to his.
If he wants her to get lost, he'll just tell her, she figures.
"I wasn't aware this was boring enough to fall asleep to."
pre-movies
So Alice is joined by a girl who is currently swimming in a grown man's blue hoodie. There's already popcorn spilled down it, stuck to the fabric by the sugar alone. She rustles around in the bowl, waiting for either a greeting, or a noise loud enough to count as one.

[Masumi had come to the cinema car looking for a distraction from having to think about being stuck on the train, and so far it seemed to be working out pretty well. She had helped herself to some popcorn, and was now eyeing the possible flavourings.]
“...Paprika?” [That wasn’t something she quite expected to see as a popcorn topping.]
2. During the show
[Being a detective herself, Masumi had taken interest in Heartlines when it started up. It would seem that she already had her suspicions on who the culprit was, though thankfully she was mostly keeping those suspicions to herself.
Mostly.]
“That’s a huge red herring.” [The muttered comment came partway through the movie, apparently in responce to something that had just happened.

He'd showed up in time for the movie. A magical girl anime movie? He'd watched worse he supposed.
He snuck inside and plopped himself down near the back, not the very back, but near it. His legs were pulled up into the seat with him and and he slowly ate his ice cream before it became just cream.
2: During the movie: His eyes cream was long since eaten. But now he was watching the movie with some confusion.
"This is... more sparkly than I thought it'd be..." He muttered softly to himself. He knew magical girls were like that but it was baffling that it was included with sports as well. It was a strange combination for sure.

"Popcorn?" There's a new girl who pokes her head into the cinema car. "Cool! I didn't realise you guys had popcorn. Um. Can a newbie come along?"
Magical Detective
"Oh whooooooa I didn't see that murder coming! Oh gosh, I hope that the Detective solves the case!"
The new girl gasps, hands clapping across her eyes and peeking around it.
End
"Gee, thanks for having me along." She smiles. "I had fun, did you?"
Magical Detective
Covering a yawn he leaned forward, arms draped over the back of the seat beside the girl and then continued the lean until his chin rested upon his hands. "... Wouldn't be much of a movie if they didn't get the bad guy."

Yugi looked at all the options as to what people could put on top of the popcorn and he couldn't help but stare at the spice ones that were out there. Did people really put that on popcorn?
He figured there must be for those who were out, but Yugi himself decided to go simple and went for the sweeter option. Once he had gotten his popcorn he started to look around at who was around and figured he might as well strike up a conversation with either people he already knew or maybe start with someone he had never spoken to before.
"Hey there. Is it okay if I talk to you before it all starts?"
In Between
Yugi wasn't usually one for sports, at least the style of sports that was being shown, but Yugi couldn't help but find certain aspects of it to be impressive, mostly the team work and the support teams would usually show one another.
It was always a nice thing to see and he couldn't help but smile. But he also found himself speaking in a whispered tone "You know, the team work here is really impressive, don't you think?"
End
By the end Yugi seemed to have fallen asleep, but if anyone moved close enough would be enough to cause the young man to wake up and look over sleepily.
"Ah, I'm sorry. Did I fall asleep?"
