Movie Night!

What: Sports anime movie night with popcorn!
Warnings: There shouldn't be! But I will add if anything comes up

POP, POPPOPPOP...

As announced by Romeo earlier that day, the cinema car has been prepared for a night of anime sports. There isn't much different at first glance, but by first whiff, those who recognise the smell of freshly popped popcorn may detect the new addition to the carriage before they see it set up on a table by the back wall.

There's a soft whirring with the faint pop, poppoppop of the corn kernels, which thankfully isn't that intrusive to the ears as most popcorn machines. Salt and sugar shakers sit next to bowls for people to take and dish out their own popcorn, as well as bottles of cinnamon and mixed (sweet) spice. Also, there's even paprika and hot chilli bottles right next to each other. Who put those there? Please shake sparingly. Or don't. It's your tastebuds on the line.

Jugs of juice from the kitchen have been set out with plastic cups for those looking for a drink, as well as a simple collection of chocolate chip cookies. There may or may not be enough for all, but probably not.

The entertainment won't start right away, so take this time to chat with one another!

BORN TO REVIEW

For this 'sports night', 4 episodes of an anime called Born To Blitz are being played, a comedy movie called Swing-It Like Seccam, and to finish it off, a sports-themed mystery of the beloved franchise Magical Detective Heartlines!

Born To Blitz is your standard sports highschool anime, but with a diverse extraterrestrial species and set on a 'coastal city' where all the buildings are domes. It's quick to lay out the story of its hero, Fax Qincan, who is trying out for the school's competitive blitzball team so that he can get a reputation and one day be a real blitzball professional. He gets a spot by the second episode (unfortunately, beating out his best friend for a place on the team), and now he must start his vigorous training before the school competitions start!

The live-action Swing-It Like Seccam is a similar deal, if less intense and offering more laughs! Follow Arla as she inspires to become a professional ping-pong player like her hero Seccam, but also as she has to deal with a disapproving family who don't take her dreams seriously. Touching towards the end, it can be confusing now and then due to a lot of pop culture references popular in Miyoon in the year 6k20nb.

And last but not least is Magical Detective Heartlines: Goal In Life, an anime movie of the beloved Heartlines as she solves her latest case in all her 80s style anime glory! Famous hoverball player--a sports played on hoverbikes that also bash around the animated balls into goals--Missie is being threatened to throw in their biggest game yet, or risk the life of their snatched beloved! It's up to Heartlines to find the culprit--but can she do it before the end of the match?

Of course she does, but not without suspense and the game being stretched out at the risk of Misse's life as well! And with a bop of a soundtrack, and plenty of glittery sequences. And let's not forget the magical girl transformation scenes. Romeo will show you the moves.

And with that, the Sports Night is over with, and what you do is ultimately up to you. Talk about the selection? Something else? Are you the sort of person who can't imagine leaving a mess, or are you rushing off with familiar faces?

Or maybe it'll be nice to go for a watch to stretch your legs, even get a drink. It's late, but the coffee and tea machines are what, only twenty-five carriages away, surely.

Just remember not to stay up too late! Got to avoid the void sickness.

( OOC: It's a fun little mingle! Have your characters bring their own food and snacks, cause some mischief, complain or be too loud. :) There will be small breaks between each showing and the blitz anime will be the same length as the movies altogether (so about 20 mins a piece).

"Obviously!" She nods. "Not a magical girl show without sparkles!"

"Do they not get tired of the amount though? Though... I suppose they could use sparkles to blind their enemies. In that case it;s ingenious!" Duo laughed, but remembered to do it low so that no one threw popcorn at him.

"Well there's gotta be an explanation for why no one can recognise em, right? I bet it's the sparkles."

"Blinds their enemies so they can never know who they are? Perfect!" It made sense, of course it did!

"Exactly! How else to explain the inexplicable way no one ever connects them!"

"Superman Syndrome." Duo said with a wide nod. "It's apparently a real thing. No one really pays attention. It's why witnesses aren't always reliable during a crime. You get five people to see someone rob a bank and get away in a van. You ask them the colour of that van... Two'll say black. One blue. One red... The van'd be green with a white stripe." He laughed and have a shake of his head. "If I put my hair down, no one would realise it was me." He glanced sideways and grinned. "I bet if you took off your glasses I wouldn't recognise you."

"Actually..." She slips off her glasses and her voice changes.

"I really bet you would." Says Kaito.

Duo, not caring that there were others in the cinema, burst out laughing.

Had he known for sure? No. Suspected this girl wasn't who she seemed to be? Definitely. Her face didn't match up with ant on the roster after all. He just wasn't really sure who was pretending to be someone else or why.

He reached over and tugged at one of 'her' pig-tails and grinned.

"You typically run around in a dress, Kaito?"

"Hush you!" He's grinning, Kaito's grin on Keiko's features.

"You wanna give the whole game away? Not everyone has got it yet, y'know."

He curtsies. "I do when it's useful~"

Duo rolled his eyes but he pulled his hand back and just grinned.

"So what do I call you then?"

"I'm still Keiko, like this." He shrugs, and Keiko smiles.

"Can't break the illusion yet!" She chirps. "Not everyone has worked it out! Although"

Kaito adds wryly. "It's a good thing Aoko isn't here any longer. She would kill me for using her best friend as a disguise."

"Keiko, alright." Wait, had he told him that already? Duo couldn't remember. But he brushed it aside, it didn't matter.

"Hah I promise I won't say a word." Be pantomimed locking his lips and threw the imaginary key over his shoulder.

"You're a bro." Kaito grins at him.

"When did you catch on? Not my best work, I know, but it'd be good to know what tipped you off."

"When I sat next to you." Duo grinned lopsidedly. "It took me a minute... But Keiko isn't on the roster, and only you'd talk to me about somethin so random." Even still, he hadn't been 100% sure until Kaito had taken off his glasses. He'd only really made that comment because he'd known someone was behind them, just not who exactly.

"Ahh damn, you'd already checked the roster." He chuckles. "I'd hoped people hadn't looked. Oh well. But you'd be surprised man. Keiko... she's a massive nerd. Even Akako has nothing bad to say about her, she's just that friendly with everyone. And Akako didn't even like Aoko, at first.

Now, Akako is weirdly protective, and it gives him the heebie jeebies.

"Check... Yeah, thats what I do." Duo generally liked to memorise the names and faces of everyone who comes on the train. That way there were no surprises. Like seeing a cute girl in the cinema who shouldn't have been there.

"So you're saying, people like your feminine side more than your masculine?" He asked with a grin.

He laughs.

"Please, Keiko's real. But most people ignore girls. Makes it easy to pull a trick."

And. Other. Things. /cough

"Can't say I've done that myself." Though he knew it'd be easy enough. He'd been mistaken for a girl often enough that if he actually put in some effort... But there was no way he was going to do that now, was he? Even if it did look amusing when Kaito did it.

"But hey, whatever floats your boat!" Duo laughed and held up his hands. "I'm not gonna judge."

"It's a pretty useful trick." He grins and shrugs. "A magician always has to keep his options open."
