OTA - Ramen, anyone?
Who: Senku Ishigami, Gen Asagiri, Roland Crane and open, so very open!
Where: Kitchen
When: Horseshoe 17
What: Senku misses ramen, and so in tradition, he's making some and there's definitely enough to share.
Warnings: Shouldn't be!
Locked to Roland and Gen
Ramen didn't just make itself, and while he could cut a break, it seemed unlikely that Gen was going to leave well enough alone. He was pulling out ingredients for the broth and the noodles and he grinned.
"Glad you could make it." He addressed Roland with a smirk. "Time to pay up." He said with a beckoning motion of his finger. "Come on, I'll teach you how to make ramen."
He didn't know if Roland was familiar with it or not, but most people probably couldn't make it from scratch either.
OTA - Everybody come and eat!
It may not have been their turn to cook, but Senku didn't care because he was the one missing it the most.
The ramen that is being served has a light, brown broth from soy sauce and is actually quite tasty. Gen and Senku have had a lot of practice with substandard ingredients, and so making it with the real thing?
It's pretty decent. They went with shoryu ramen because it was the easiest with the ingredients on hand, mixed with some of the garlic and ginger that they picked up, as well as served with pork - real pork they picked up on the mission, not mystery bear meat.
Both Senku and Gen were helping to serve and dress the ramen, just like they might be at home.
[Ramen free for all, grab a bowl and Senku, Gen or Roland, or any combination of the trio above.]

There was a certain satisfaction in sharing his favourite food with people.

"With noodles? What, did you buy some?"
Because how else would they have noodles? He's never seen any in the stores before!
no subject
"They're not too hard to make, we had all the basic ingredients in the stores."
no subject
Even back home when he cooked as a hobby. But then, that part of cooking never interested him.
"Sure, I'll take some." Since we can't forget about the original offer. And then jokingly, "You and Roland are getting along well."
no subject
"Yeah, we get along pretty well. He's an interesting guy."
no subject
Since he remembers that being a thing - Tidus pointing Senku to Roland as someone who might be able to help keep him busy.
no subject
The ramen was in return for that particular project, but it was fine, Roland worked hard. It was worth it when they were going to taste it.

"So something like whatever the train does now so we can understand everyone? How's that going?"
no subject
"But, you have people from different worlds who likely speak languages I may not even be able to conceive!" That was exciting in and of itself and he would love to learn more languages, but that was more of a back burner thing.
"On top of that, we might be dealing with people who can't see or hear, and while I can't think of anyone who can't hear now, I have at least met someone who can't see so we're going to consider a combination of audio signals, or sounds and hand gestures."
no subject
"I can't understand anyone." Good start! "I need someone who can understand everyone to have a conversation if we stop having the train translate us. But you know, I talked to someone back then- she can make a candy? Or something? If she has a gem. It'll let you understand what people are saying... or do it the other way round! I wonder if you can mix the two?"
...he is probably missing points that would be worth explaining there, but the talk of translators suddenly reminded him about that day.
no subject
It was good to know that Tidus didn't understand anyone, since he didn't share a common language with anyone and likely not with Senku either.
"We're thinking of something a lot more universal."
no subject
Insert Tidus 'pressing' his hands inwards, as if mushing together something in the middle.
"Make the machine read the thingy 'bout the stone that makes it magical?"
no subject
He appreciated technology as much as anyone else did. "If you mean creating my own machine, I would still need a knowledge of every language that has to go into it to pull that off, and while I've got Japanese, English and Russian down, there's a limit to even what I know."
Senku didn't put off at all about the debate, in fact it was giving him ideas as he thought about the potential drawbacks of such a system.
no subject
See? Doesn't it make sense? But in this random idea that he's only thought up on the spot...!
"...I should ask Sakura what stone it was that did that." A side thought to himself. But he shakes his head after. "I wouldn't know about messing with the SCAs anyway. You can't get a spare one. And I don't want anyone getting hurt."
no subject
He would worry about the SCA as well, of course, but they didn't have a back up for that as far as he knew.
no subject
Is Senku just the guy to Tidus who'd be into any semi-nerdy thing? Absolutely.
"What if Sakura thinks it's feasible? She's a teacher- a magic. She'd have an idea."
no subject
"She's my roommate, but I know next to nothing about her so..." He shrugged.
no subject
"That doesn't surprise me. She finds it difficult getting to know people - not used to it." ...now that he thinks about it. "You two might have something to talk about. You know, you know non-magic, she does... but you have a same kinda energy." ... "A little."
Sorta. He thinks?
"You should ask her about it then! Just tell her I told you about the time I asked what it'd take to make a translator.....magic thing. For everyone."
no subject
He wasn't entirely sure about that, he hadn't thought much about Sakura or how to converse with her. He was a bit on the awkward side there.

"... Well, she threw a lightning bolt at me 'cause I thought she was a kid..."

So no biggy!

"It is? Cool! So you found plenty to do? And whatever else you wanted to know?"
He isn't actually sure if there was anything Senku wanted to 'know' in particular, but...
