OTA - Ramen, anyone?
Who: Senku Ishigami, Gen Asagiri, Roland Crane and open, so very open!
Where: Kitchen
When: Horseshoe 17
What: Senku misses ramen, and so in tradition, he's making some and there's definitely enough to share.
Warnings: Shouldn't be!
Locked to Roland and Gen
Ramen didn't just make itself, and while he could cut a break, it seemed unlikely that Gen was going to leave well enough alone. He was pulling out ingredients for the broth and the noodles and he grinned.
"Glad you could make it." He addressed Roland with a smirk. "Time to pay up." He said with a beckoning motion of his finger. "Come on, I'll teach you how to make ramen."
He didn't know if Roland was familiar with it or not, but most people probably couldn't make it from scratch either.
OTA - Everybody come and eat!
It may not have been their turn to cook, but Senku didn't care because he was the one missing it the most.
The ramen that is being served has a light, brown broth from soy sauce and is actually quite tasty. Gen and Senku have had a lot of practice with substandard ingredients, and so making it with the real thing?
It's pretty decent. They went with shoryu ramen because it was the easiest with the ingredients on hand, mixed with some of the garlic and ginger that they picked up, as well as served with pork - real pork they picked up on the mission, not mystery bear meat.
Both Senku and Gen were helping to serve and dress the ramen, just like they might be at home.
[Ramen free for all, grab a bowl and Senku, Gen or Roland, or any combination of the trio above.]

"The chances of what? Heh." He resumes the task of cutting noodles by hand now, dough pulled thin and long so he can get even motions. "Come on and partake. It's definitely ramen."
no subject
"Thank you." Ken sits somewhere he can observe the process, the better to appreciate the end result; Wormmon crawls down into his lap, the better to await Food. "I wasn't expecting to recognize the meals here."
There was ramen in the Digital World, as well, but that could easily be attributed to its close relationship to human digital networks and the information transmitted therein. To think Ken would be continuing his ramen world tour on the Voidtrecker Express -
Life is mysterious.

He leans against the counter with both hands. "So, order up?" Roland smiles, his gaze drifting to the creature - friend? - sitting on the boy's lap. Though he doesn't recognize it, he's used to seeing foreign animals, pets, and what-have-you's such that there's little delay to address him normally, casually almost. "Order for two, perhaps?"
no subject
His own bowl. A bowl just for Wormmon!
Ken smiles at Roland's generosity. "If there's enough."
If not, he's perfectly happy to share with Wormmon, but look how thrilled Wormmon would be to receive his own portion......Has he been shortchanging his partner, usually splitting meals with him?
While the order is prepared, though...He thinks he's heard of this system, but wants to confirm he has the right understanding:
"Do you mind if I ask what you meant by 'points'?"
no subject
"That's right. Don't worry about there being enough. I'm on noodle duty." True, they couldn't use up all the stores ingredients, but this is precisely why Senku and Gen asked him to help, right? To serve up something they cooked on their own. So Roland arranges it, talking all the while as the noodles hit hot water and the chopsticks start moving toppings in separate plates for him to decorate on the dishes later.
"Points can be considered this train's currency. You can check the ICP terminal for it. Go to our current Passenger Roster, and it'll be next to your name." The noodles are only in for three to four minutes, so he's timing it on his SCA. "Although nobody knows what specific activity or task will merit a certain number of points, every platform stop they are replenished somewhat. And you can use them to purchase goods on the onboard shop. Parcels arrive during the Voidtrecker's stopovers, depending on the item bought."
no subject
"So no one's able to guarantee they'll receive a certain number of points." He's....not sure what the goal of setting things up that way would be, but there must definitely be one. Everything about this train speaks to its having an objective, albeit one shrouded in mystery (and possibly tragedy; he's met Nita, he's seen the memories). Ken ponders this.
"Ken-chan, we should look later. We could ask for your Digivice!"
"...I doubt we have that many."
Wormmon settles down at this, but he thinks they have done a pretty good job so far. Ken-chan has talked to many strangers, and learned a lot, and only managed to get himself recklessly injured by an angry person once. While Wormmon would definitely prefer no reckless injuries, that kindness is another thing he loves about Ken-chan!

Doesn't take him long now, both bowls served carefully. Each of equal portion and size, hot broth, slice of pork, firm noodles that are still half-cooking in the temperature of the soup. Two pairs of chopsticks rests on the rim of the bowl.
As Wormmon pipes up though, Roland is quick to the catch. He leans his hand on one side of his hip as he regards both with interest.
"Digivice?"
no subject
"When we have the Digivice, I can fly in the sky!" says Wormmon, completely forgetting to mention that this comes with a full-scale transformation. Clearly this is a device that levitates bugs. Very important.
no subject
Thankfully, he has enough tact not to voice this out loud.
"I see. Well, the good news is there's a chance you can buy it with enough points. Might be important enough that it counts under the forty-five point category. Hopefully not a weapon." Roland smiles encouragingly, handing them napkins. "I'd like to see Wormmon fly, at the very least. You're not scared of heights?" he addresses the Digimon, next.
no subject
This is, perhaps slightly, more wishful thinking than accurate. But Ken isn't about to call out his partner - number one, inconsiderate; number two, he has other details to zero in on presently.
"Forty-five points..." He'd checked earlier. They have...three. "We have a ways to go."
They also have napkins he needs to handle. Ken turns to see Wormmon placing a tentative claw on his bowl, and reaches over to tuck a napkin against his partner's front. Just in case.
Wormmon beams. Ken-chan....Ken-chan doesn't want him to get messy! He cares so much! "Thank you!"
no subject
"Looks like Ken here is pretty lucky to have someone as brave as you covering his back." He says easily. "I'm sorry, I didn't get your name." For this, he shuffles a look between the two of them, catching Ken's eye before his companion's.
no subject
"Nice to meet you!"
Wormmon is beaming. He was called brave! He's a brave Digimon! Oh, he hopes Ken-chan was listening and agrees! "Hey, hey, what's your name, too?"
It would be rude not to know the name of someone so nice. Someone who can make ramen and thinks Wormmon is brave!
...Ken will pick up his chopsticks and look for a good first bite of Wormmon's bowl to feed him. Wormmon doesn't need his input to make a friend.
no subject
"I'm Roland. Likewise."
Maybe he should start getting tips from this dynamic when it came to treating his own higgledies with the same kind of care. But it is heartwarming, somewhat, to catch their little interactions up close. For now though, he will comment on something else as small talk. "Do you like the food? You seem to be familiar with ramen." Judging by that entrance, at least. To this, Roland throws the question to either of them, Ken or Wormmon.
no subject
That isn't...bragging, is it? Not when it's the truth. "We were actually on a tour of the world's ramen when we were summoned here."
Wormmon swallows his pork. "This ramen is really good! We'll be able to tell him we had void ramen!"
no subject
Roland shoots a grateful look over at Wormmon's direction, happy that more and more customers are enjoying Senku and Gen's hard work on the broth. The noodles are just there for filling, after all. He'll busy his hands with the next batch of dough, ready to be hand-cut with his sharpened knife.
"That sounds exciting. Where did you last stop before the train picked you up?"
no subject
...To his best friend, anyway.
Wormmon tugs Ken's polo shirt. If Ken-chan does all the talking, Ken-chan will do none of the eating, and then he will feel bad that they can't both report to Daisuke about void ramen. Wormmon will save him! "Ken-chan, you next."
no subject
"Yeah. New York is definitely the place to go for budding and veteran foodies. Pizza's great, if you want a change of pace from the ramen." And as he replies, Wormmon is already making a tug at his partner to eat. It was a nice sight to see.
"Heh. Why don't I leave you to enjoy your void ramen? I wouldn't want to distract you from making a full report on how it tastes."
no subject
Wormmon grins at Roland while Ken-chan figures out very clever things about void ramen. "For the food, too!" he adds to his partner's thanks. Wormmon knows he's not going to be able to come up with more than "It was yummy" for his own gourmet report, but that doesn't mean he isn't going to have the time of his life eating his bowl!
no subject
He'll leave them to eat, wiping down the counters and returning to his own tasks at hand. Remembering that both Ken and Wormmon were from a version of an Earth he recalls, has lived in. Has ruled.
no subject
New York's got nothing on void ramen, even if Roland says it's a good place too!
