OTA - Ramen, anyone?
Who: Senku Ishigami, Gen Asagiri, Roland Crane and open, so very open!
Where: Kitchen
When: Horseshoe 17
What: Senku misses ramen, and so in tradition, he's making some and there's definitely enough to share.
Warnings: Shouldn't be!
Locked to Roland and Gen
Ramen didn't just make itself, and while he could cut a break, it seemed unlikely that Gen was going to leave well enough alone. He was pulling out ingredients for the broth and the noodles and he grinned.
"Glad you could make it." He addressed Roland with a smirk. "Time to pay up." He said with a beckoning motion of his finger. "Come on, I'll teach you how to make ramen."
He didn't know if Roland was familiar with it or not, but most people probably couldn't make it from scratch either.
OTA - Everybody come and eat!
It may not have been their turn to cook, but Senku didn't care because he was the one missing it the most.
The ramen that is being served has a light, brown broth from soy sauce and is actually quite tasty. Gen and Senku have had a lot of practice with substandard ingredients, and so making it with the real thing?
It's pretty decent. They went with shoryu ramen because it was the easiest with the ingredients on hand, mixed with some of the garlic and ginger that they picked up, as well as served with pork - real pork they picked up on the mission, not mystery bear meat.
Both Senku and Gen were helping to serve and dress the ramen, just like they might be at home.
[Ramen free for all, grab a bowl and Senku, Gen or Roland, or any combination of the trio above.]

Tidus is thinking as well, not taking much attention at the napkins now beside him than a quick flicker as they're deposited. Wondering what Roland can do. Although, he doesn't know a lot about guns...
"What about a bunch of smaller shots then, just make use of the time you have? Or," or "can't you get a different gun? Or different ammo? How about that?"
no subject
"A different gun...That makes sense. My pistol doesn't have the power to fire smaller shots in one go." Despite the magical enhancements from home, it's still based on a regular glock, after all. But it never occurred to him until now to explore buying another, mostly because he can't keep more than one firearm in his Arms Band at a time.
That just meant he would have to get tactical with what arms he'll bring on a mission, wouldn't it? A challenge he gratefully accepts.
"I'll need to look up gun models, then. Don't suppose the Library's got that on hand?" He asks rhetorically. The noodles are undercooked - Roland likes his with a bit of bite - and they're drained in a similar manner, plopped inside a bowl and adorned with the same fixings and broth as Tidus's own. He then proceeds to feast on the ramen, himself.

"People can actually buy weapons now? Why do you think it let us have them after this long? And is it true we need to start using the lockers to put our weapons in?"
Because he vaguely remembers hearing something about that, but not the full story. That's what happens when you're half-paying attention on a platform day, to anything going on. But with that question, his bowl already raised and some noodles slithered up into his mouth, Tidus takes his mouth to the bowl and begins
slurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrp.
1/2
ugh. Not again. The look he shoots Tidus is well-hidden behind his bowl of noodles, which Roland pulls up closer to his mouth to pointedly avoid slurping. ]

"It's strange, isn't it?" Roland goes, speaking only after swallowing. Eating put on a pause until he can say what he has to. "I always wonder about the timing of these things. Are we being prepared for something worse? Or is the train trying to placate us because we complain about being underprepared?"
And if the train is truly as alive as he assumes it to be, then it's clearly listening. To what extent it's moving though, is up in the air.
"I saw that announcement, yes." Roland makes a move to eat, sips the broth that's fatty and flavorful thanks to the pork bones, and takes chopsticks to more noodles. He chews quick so he can continue to talk. "I appreciate the sentiment, believe me. I've lobbied for similar restrictions in my work, too. But it'll be difficult to get everyone on this train to comply." He sets the bowl down as a show of emphasis. "I don't think I'll leave my weapons out of the Arms Band either. I can gladly register them for transparency, but they came with me on the train and that's where they're staying."
no subject
"It's easier when you have an Arms Band," Tidus agrees. "It was awkward leaving my sword out in the room or leaving it with Yuna, "but now I can pop it out and back any time."
So, why would he ever stick it in a locker? ...the whole thing is strange, but he doesn't have the entire picture, admittedly. He rolls up some more of the noodles between his chopsticks.
"Who decided it? The council? I haven't been hearing all the announcements."
He wasn't sure it was them or a Team Leader decision -- but Roland didn't sound like he knew about it beforehand, so...
no subject
"I doubt it's a council decision, though. They're usually transparent about big changes like this, right?" Or what he's inclined to assume, at least. He doesn't really know the inner machinations of the train's council, or how often they convene to discuss train life and its growing community. He's happy to think about helping missions, Purple or otherwise.

"They agreed to have the one meeting made public through the ICP, but... don't know anything they've done since. Well, 'cept the stuff with the girl?" A grimace, and that's as far as he'll get into that. "I mean, other than allowing Ichigo to put a fridge in medbay."
...Do I need to do that with the kitchen idea? he wonders for a worried second, but quickly dismisses. "I don't think he needed to do that," and let's cement us completely refusing to do that!, "but, you know. ...did you do that?"
Not to change topics in a single second, but.

He slurps more soup - an accidental sound he forgets to be conscious about. For a second. A napkin to the lips follows, wiping at the broth residue.
"Did I do what?" He asks, to clarify. Eyebrow quirked up, ramen currently parked for now. That's a really...filling broth!

"Give blood! Or... have him look at your blood?" Whatever that was to entail. But Tidus skirts his eyes around, checking around them before lowering his voice. "I mean, I have blood...it's all normal... but I don't like thinking about what he'd find, personally."
So maybe other people didn't worry or think about that... and maybe even he was overreacting, being dramatic. But even so, he didn't want to think about it.
plus, needles are scary.
no subject
"But speaking from experience, after a few weeks, even frozen blood goes bad. Well." He meets Tidus's eye briefly. Resumes his own snacking with the chopsticks back twirling over the noodles, slightly softer now from the warm soup. "All I know is Ichigo felt really good about the decision. A feeling of helping." He chews fast, making a quick hand movement with his free hand. "Don't worry. We've got enough potions to help you out in a pinch, anyway."
What would have Ichigo found anyway, with Tidus's own unique composition? Interesting to some maybe, but Roland is content to know Tidus can rely on medical advancements from other worlds, regardless.
no subject
Not that he's sure what Roland would think about sticking blood in an Arms, but. Hey. Desperate times blah blah blah, and so on.
"I know he was worried about potions not doing anything for blood. I don't know if there's anything just for ... making up blood for the body? That's kinda over my head," he admits.
Potions would do them well in a pinch, and they had more elixirs than really made sense to Tidus. But something just for blood would make the more medically trained happy, Tidus figures.

"Yeah, well. I was bleeding pretty heavily before, if you can recall." He smirks somewhat, gesturing with his eyes glancing down to where he stands - his leg, patched up by magic a lifetime and a half ago. "Magic spells seem to do the trick, but maybe that's just because you're good at it, pro. Heh."
no subject
And he can see why. He doubts all the magically-inclined people are suddenly going to poof like a few of the Team Leads did, but maybe it's just nice to be stocked. And isn't that what they want with the mission supplies too?
"Maybe they wanna know how it works. Drugs have stuff in 'em that people can be allergic to. Maybe someone can be allergic to magic...?" Ah- "There was a guy who couldn't handle 'light' magic."
no subject
He's going in for another slurp of noodles, but this time he does catch himself from making a sound. It's honestly not bad, and he may be going in for seconds as he checks his SCA for the next batch to hit the hot water.
"Allergies to magic sound terrible. But who's this guy, then? On the train or back home?"
no subject
And he never did get the opportunity to learn how to heal a different way from him. But hopefully he was happier back where he was, not suffering as many sleepless nights as on the train.
no subject
"Well, at least we've got enough variety to cover our bases. From magic spells, to potions and ethers, to blood transfusions and pills. Contingency-wise, I do believe we're well-stocked." He transfers his second serving onto the same bowl, flashing Tidus another knowing look from under his bangs. "Of course, you were integral in that effort too. Thanks for leading that charge in your own way. And I know you'll tell me it wasn't your idea, but...thank you, regardless. I see you."
no subject
"Yeah, well - you keep doing your job too." Or something. Tidus puts the bowl one last time to his mouth and drinks up the rest of what's left, exhaling as he brings it away, wiping his lips with the back of his wrist.
And he stands up, elbows coming off the side of the counter.
"Anyway, thanks for lunch. I've got a kettle and toaster to grab."
