OTA - Ramen, anyone?
Who: Senku Ishigami, Gen Asagiri, Roland Crane and open, so very open!
Where: Kitchen
When: Horseshoe 17
What: Senku misses ramen, and so in tradition, he's making some and there's definitely enough to share.
Warnings: Shouldn't be!
Locked to Roland and Gen
Ramen didn't just make itself, and while he could cut a break, it seemed unlikely that Gen was going to leave well enough alone. He was pulling out ingredients for the broth and the noodles and he grinned.
"Glad you could make it." He addressed Roland with a smirk. "Time to pay up." He said with a beckoning motion of his finger. "Come on, I'll teach you how to make ramen."
He didn't know if Roland was familiar with it or not, but most people probably couldn't make it from scratch either.
OTA - Everybody come and eat!
It may not have been their turn to cook, but Senku didn't care because he was the one missing it the most.
The ramen that is being served has a light, brown broth from soy sauce and is actually quite tasty. Gen and Senku have had a lot of practice with substandard ingredients, and so making it with the real thing?
It's pretty decent. They went with shoryu ramen because it was the easiest with the ingredients on hand, mixed with some of the garlic and ginger that they picked up, as well as served with pork - real pork they picked up on the mission, not mystery bear meat.
Both Senku and Gen were helping to serve and dress the ramen, just like they might be at home.
[Ramen free for all, grab a bowl and Senku, Gen or Roland, or any combination of the trio above.]

we shall see >:) he's a perceptive man!
"Wow. It's delicious. Look at you two. The ramen will be a hit."
He won't double dip, but it warrants a second sip if he had a clean spoon again. For now -
"I have to work hard on the noodles. It's gotta compliment the star of the dish."
Oh there will probably be a tell, you know how it is
He turned to Roland and offered him one of his rather coveted high fives. "Good job." Let it be said, he wasn't actually stingy with his praise when it was deserved.
He would also offer one to Gen, even if he would qualify what he did more as supervising, but he would also tell Gen. "You can cook us some noodles so we can eat. Roland too." Eating was the best part.
Gen doesn't have as good of a poker face when it comes to Senku after all :D
Roland making wiggly eyebrows at Gen one of these days
"I'll watch you cook them. We're going to be an assembly line of sorts here, right? Gotta make sure I'm doing my part when we're doing sampling the meal." And he's getting kind of excited about it too. When was the last time he's had something this close to home food?
Senku will not change how he behaves at all
Roland might even get Gen to blush!
sorry for the lateness you two! :(
And that of course, brings him back to the image of a different form of the end of the world - stone and petrification, all that good stuff Senku's already hinted at or outright told him. Gen, too, so the dots weren't difficult to connect. Resourcefulness paired with a desire for a good life for his citizens. This is what immediately comes to mind when Roland listens intently to both of them giving him an idea of how used they were to working with what they had.
The noodles are perhaps just about ready, when Roland pipes up again. "You two really are quite something, huh? Knowing how to do all this like it was nothing. People could learn plenty from your combined ingenuity."
No worries
The way he says this makes it sound a lot less impressive than it was. To do something like making antibiotics took close to fifty steps each building on the last, the last bulk being done in an all night marathon.
"The food stuff is pretty easy, and people tend to like the results. We've also made treats like cotton candy and chocolates. The breads are newer, thanks to Francois' expertise. We also do a bunch of preserving food." Senku answered, a bit more like he was off on a tangent. "Really though, our diet still has to be somewhere around 85% fish, so there's not a lot of variety or anything, and there's not so much game close to the village, we have to get away from it because when there's people there, the animals stay away, logical, right?"
it's all good! :D
He winked, teasing, while diminishing his role, of course.
Gen tapped his chin. "It doesn't help that we're more or less on an island, of course. It helps protect them from nastier wildlife, though, so that's the tradeoff! But I have to say, I'm almost missing fish with all of this teddy-bear meat ..."
no subject
"So, I'm guessing that island you're talking about is where you've settled as HQ?" Roland adds, busying himself with his bowl. Hard to eat when they're talking about something that catches his attention right away.
no subject
Roland, he was never going to like small talk.
He however, was a very fast eater and he could make food disappear in between words in a conversation. He was an expert because he constantly worked at home.
"Technically all of Japan is an island, so using the water to survive was always going to be the best tactic, but the village itself is on two smaller islands of sorts that are broken off from the mainland, two pieces of land I'm fairly certain weren't there 3700 years ago." Senku answered.
"As Japan is a decently sized landmass there are animals, but they don't like populated areas of which there is basically one, and their territories are quite a bit outside of where we live. Fortunately, we have a hot air balloon."
no subject
Gen, too, was a chronic working-through-his-meals type of guy, so he also ate as he talked and gestured with his hands, bright and animated as his meal steadily disappeared.
"More specifically," Gen said, "we're talking about the village Senku been made the chieftain of. The observatory has been built just outside of it, all the better to use it for scouting, of course."
daaaarting around the fourth-wall breaking for Roland, sorry for all the off-brand names!
It's not the geography tidbits that get Roland to immediately try and swallow down his food, though. He blinks and is in slight awe at the realization. "You...built an observatory? That's amazing. And your village too, has it got a name?"
Technically, if Senku was made chieftain, that means he's their budding nation's leader. Just like Evan.
he so means the icon keywords here
At the question he groaned a little and put one hand to his forehead, because seriously his dad was embarrassing, even from beyond the grave.
"Ishigami Village, but we've pretty much settled on the Kingdom of Science, with our recent expansion and all." Senku said, tilting broth into his mouth.
why have icon keywords if you don't mean them
Then, he giggled, eyes twinkling. "Yes, Ishigami Village is named after his family. His dad founded it, thousands of years ago. They talk about him in their stories. So for Senku to come back and lead them ... hmmm, if I make a King Arthur analogy, would you understand that reference?"
I'M SO SELECTIVE ABOUT HIS FOURTH-WALL INFORMATION HAHA
"Sure. You're talking about the sword in the stone story, right?" And if this was a talk on kings, well. Roland's got all ears on Gen now too, something relevant even to his own tale. He will for now, keep it to himself that it's a little sad how Senku woke a thousand years too late to meet his father who seemed to have made a village. The last bastion of humanity? Who knows.
