Have the fire extinquisher ready
Who: Xue Yang and OTA
Where: Training carriage
When: For the entire week after the new arrivals
What: Xue Yang has decided to experiment with his new swords and making up some new techniques. Experiments with fire and deadly weapons. Proceed with caution.
Warnings: Xue Yang may accidentally set something on fire.
Scenerio 1: Double blade
Xue Yang is currently seated in the center of the training carriage. Two swords on the ground in front of him, various tools whose soul purpose is for attempting to cut through steel and several pieces of paper that are very clearly talismans.
He picks up one of the swords and studies the hilt and handle, he then places it on the floor alongside the second one but going in the opposite direction. He becomes quite intent with taping the two together with what appears to be some sort of medical tape that he likely stole from the infirmary while no one was looking. Once he is content, he stands up and picks up the swords that are now stuck together to form one very long blade.
He tests the balance of it first and then starts to swing it around with the skill of someone who is very used to using a double ended blade. After a few moves he stops and looks at the connection.
"It's not strong enough with the tape..and also wouldn't be very quick to assemble when needed." Which is a problem when one is used to the sword simply transforming in his hand.
Scenerio 2: Talismans
Xue Yang picks up one of the blades and a talisman, moving a little bit away from the rest so that he doesn't accidentally light his entire set up on fire. He has two ideas to try and make this work and perhaps it won't work at all but he at least has to try.
He takes the talisman and with one swift motion, slides it along the blade as he attempts to transfer the fire onto the steel. The Talisman lights on fire but the blade does not and Xue Yang tosses it away quickly before he can burn himself. Failure one.
Next attempt he writes the talisman design right onto the blade. The fire lights up the sword and when he swings it as he normally would the fire doesn't appear to make things unwieldy, but it also doesn't go any further then the blade. Second attempt is marginally better then the first.
"Decent but not exactly what I'm hoping to achieve." Time to figure out plan three.

Fire might be a given
Senku arrived as suggested in time to see the second attempt.
"What are you trying to achieve?"
There was no scolding for playing with fire, fire was an important element in life, after all.
no subject
"I want to be able to basically slice the sword towards an opponent in the distance and have the fire travel to strike them as if it was the sword."
no subject
He had faith Xue Yang wasn't trying to burn him.
"Hmmmm." He mused. "So with these talismans, is it the problem in the talisman itself, I mean, what's written on it, or is the problem with the technique?"
no subject
He points to each of the stacks. "The talisman can only be written one way for each element you are trying to use or technique. So it isn't how it is written that would be the problem. The placement of the writing perhaps or..the simply a lacking in my ability to merge the two."

Double blade
Convenient.
He stalks forward into the training carriage and draws Baxia. Should he announce himself? Why bother? There is no chance at all that he'll ever bow to this man. Not after everything Xue Yang has done. Instead, he gives just enough warning before lashing Baxia out at the other man's head.
no subject
Lucky for him, Xue Yang is used to people wanting him dead and the murderous intent he felt enter the room could practically suffocate a person. How he manages to avoid that lash from Baxia is hard to say but he does and ends up at the other end of the carriage.
"I should have known it would only be a matter of time before you found me." And clearly this man remembers exactly what he did.
no subject
Mingjue knows who orchestrated his death, that Xue Yang had technically just been following orders. Does that save him? No. He follows to the other end of the carriage, Baxia continuing to strive to remove Xue Yang's head, though there is marginally less energy pushed into the blade.
Just enough Xue Yang might actually survive this encounter.
"I heard you were here." Meaning of course he'd come after the delinquent.
no subject
"How nice that you felt the need to come say hello."
Xue Yang might have been just the blade that did the dirty work but he still was part of it. Knew of the plan and had carried through with the request instead of turning it down. He knows that he is just as guilty and still holds no remorse about it.
no subject
He was passing by through the carriages, getting better at learning the carriage by the layout. Being blind, he's fumbling his way, walking slowly counting with his steps. His demeanor is calm and serene. He left his sword in his room, so he is unarmed. He heard of two blades and what sounds like stretching of the material of tape?
He halts when he's talking about tape. Tilting his head to listen, "Xue Yang? Is that you...?"
no subject
He slowly turns towards Xingchen, his eyes catching sight of the bandage..so he has experienced more since the last time he was on the train. And then to the line on his throat and Xue Yang nearly drops the sword in his hand. He swallows hard and tries to keep himself calm.
At least he doesn't have to disguise his voice from the man. What's the point in that now? He wants to run up to him and pretend that nothing had changed since Yi City. That the day he turned Song Lan into a fierce corpse was nothing but a dream. But he can't and he knows that Xingchen will never forget what he did.
"Daozhang..." what does he even say to this man now...
no subject
Perhaps, it's a good thing he doesn't greet him on the first day. If he did, there will be several misunderstandings. Yes, he was sad and hurt by everything he has done in their past life. By his trickery and hiding his identity, and trusting him blindly. But then, after hearing out the story from Wei Wuxian and A-Qing, he wondered what just happened here. He wanted to be fair and hear him, remembering the story he told him of the little boy who desperately wanted candy, and it's the story he never forgets.
He figured he ignored his message and that's the sign he was looking for. Since he remembered the man will follow him, talk to him, and...now, he is quiet. Too quiet.
"I learned a little bit from Wei Wuxian and A-Qing. But not the whole story. If you don't feel like telling me yours, then..." He pulls something out of his pocket, something he found on the train. It was a wrapped candy he found in the kitchen and he offers it to him, in the direction of his voice.
"You don't have to tell me anything. But I am here. I want to hear from you." He hopes to settle things peacefully between them without swords, but he is prepared to be refused by him all the same.
no subject
He bends down to set the sword on the ground. He didn't want to be armed in front of Xingchen. Not if the man is choosing to put some trust in him. He knows that he can't see the action but he will certainly hear it. The blind daozhang has always been able to manage fine with just his other senses.
"After what I did, why would you ever want to hear from me again?"
Xue Yang is woefully aware that his actions are what lead Xingchen to take his life. And that painful reminder was brought up in his nightmares after being attacked by Wester. He doesn't question it now that he has regrets.
But he is walking forward, slowly so as to not make the man nervous. And reaching out he plucks the candy from the man's hand. He isn't going to eat it. Because he might need to keep it as a memento again in the future.

Scenario 2: Talismans
But he is working through it. His mind never rests.
"Fire is the flamboyant choice."
no subject
He rests the no longer flaming sword against his shoulder as he quirks his eyebrow at the state of the other man, "You look like you've been busy."
no subject
"There isn't much I can do for you, Chengmei. He will find you eventually."
They both know of whom he speaks.
no subject
He walks over and sits down as well, setting the sword on the floor next to him.
"The train isn't very big and I'm not big on hiding."
He has accepted that his head is liking going to be detached from the rest of his body at some point. He can't hold a grudge about it considering he knows it is what he deserves.

Talismans
no subject
"The sword is limited in range. I want to be able to combine the two to make it into a more long range weapon."
Throwing fire at an opponent through swordsmanship seems like a fun new trick.
talismans
Willow's words have a hint of amusement behind them, she has seen a method similar to enchant blades before and none were as effective as enchantment magic itself.
"What is it you are trying to achieve, I know a thing or two about fire and enchantment magic."
no subject
"I want to be able to send whatever element I wrap the sword in, at my opponent. Looking to be more effective in a long range environment."
Because too many monsters have been taking advantage of the fact he can only fight close up.
no subject
A rune enchanted blade is a rare an powerful thing in her world, not many have the blood trait to do such magics!
no subject
Which is why he thought if he could pass the power of the talisman into the blade that he might be able to utilize many different ones.
Dx sorry for delays

Scenario 2, toward the end of that week
... Not usually expecting to see fire.
Was that Xue? He recalled their conversation in that tavern very well, thank you. He can't help but observe the immediate area, judging how likely it'd be that he'd accidentally set something on fire.
Also, he'd wait to speak until Xue wasn't actively moving, to prevent an untimely accident. "How goes your experiments, my friend?"
no subject
"I haven't lit anything on fire that isn't supposed to be yet, but they are going slightly better today then they were when I started this a few days ago."
no subject
"Fortunate, I think the smoke would be hard to get rid of, since the windows don't open," Gen quipped. Tilting his head, he asked, "What happened a few days ago, if you don't mind my curiosity?"
