Have the fire extinquisher ready
Who: Xue Yang and OTA
Where: Training carriage
When: For the entire week after the new arrivals
What: Xue Yang has decided to experiment with his new swords and making up some new techniques. Experiments with fire and deadly weapons. Proceed with caution.
Warnings: Xue Yang may accidentally set something on fire.
Scenerio 1: Double blade
Xue Yang is currently seated in the center of the training carriage. Two swords on the ground in front of him, various tools whose soul purpose is for attempting to cut through steel and several pieces of paper that are very clearly talismans.
He picks up one of the swords and studies the hilt and handle, he then places it on the floor alongside the second one but going in the opposite direction. He becomes quite intent with taping the two together with what appears to be some sort of medical tape that he likely stole from the infirmary while no one was looking. Once he is content, he stands up and picks up the swords that are now stuck together to form one very long blade.
He tests the balance of it first and then starts to swing it around with the skill of someone who is very used to using a double ended blade. After a few moves he stops and looks at the connection.
"It's not strong enough with the tape..and also wouldn't be very quick to assemble when needed." Which is a problem when one is used to the sword simply transforming in his hand.
Scenerio 2: Talismans
Xue Yang picks up one of the blades and a talisman, moving a little bit away from the rest so that he doesn't accidentally light his entire set up on fire. He has two ideas to try and make this work and perhaps it won't work at all but he at least has to try.
He takes the talisman and with one swift motion, slides it along the blade as he attempts to transfer the fire onto the steel. The Talisman lights on fire but the blade does not and Xue Yang tosses it away quickly before he can burn himself. Failure one.
Next attempt he writes the talisman design right onto the blade. The fire lights up the sword and when he swings it as he normally would the fire doesn't appear to make things unwieldy, but it also doesn't go any further then the blade. Second attempt is marginally better then the first.
"Decent but not exactly what I'm hoping to achieve." Time to figure out plan three.

"I see two issues with it still. The first being I have to put a fair amount of prep into doing it, but that is probably unavoidable for now. The second being that I don't have much protection for myself against it either."
no subject
"Maybe some thick gloves to protect your hands."
no subject
"It's nothing serious this time but that could change depending on the situation."
He does have the matching glove to the one currently on his hand if he needs to wear it. "Do you think that might do enough or will it simply melt the glove?"
no subject
"Not serious." He agreed. "But fortunately, I picked this up." He held out his hand and a jar of clear sap appeared, summoned from his new Arms Band.
"Try a bit of this. It's a little sticky at first, but as your skin absorbs it and the injury disappears, so does the sticky feeling." He opens the jar and holds it out so Xue Yang can dip a hand in himself. It's completely full anyway.
no subject
Xue Yang doesn't really need it. He's experienced far more painful injuries in his lifetime. But he'll take it because it is offered.
no subject
No, he wouldn't have thought that Xue Yang needed the sap exactly, but there was no point in tolerating a minor injury if it was unnecessary to do so. This only would work on minor injuries anyway, so there was no reason not to use some of it.
"I have much thicker leather that I bought in town, maybe your gloves could be reinforced so it doesn't go through?" He was just brainstorming.

If he can figure out fire, then the rest of the elements will be easy to control and deal with. This one is the one that creates the most difficulties because of how dangerous it can be to him as well if he doesn't figure out how to do this correctly.
no subject
Senku was pondering, as he often did. He would close the jar and put it away when Xue Yang was done with it.
no subject
"So I know I have to give it as much power as I can so I should be able to use any of the elements in that way. But now I need some form of protection...what about a modification to the actual hilt?"
A wider hand guard might keep the flames from getting close to his hand. It would change the balance of the sword slightly but if he practices that would be easy enough to get used to.

"I wonder if there is a way to request something using points." he doesn't mind spending the points if it gets him something important. He has more then he really needs right now.
"How hard would it be to melt down silver without a forge?" He's thinking about the kitchen utensils and stealing a few to try and do what he needs.
no subject
Senku hummed. "Now, you can order things with points by using the console. They take requests. I don't yet know how accurate they are though, the specialty item I ordered, I won't get until we stop again."
no subject
"What did you request?"
no subject
"I requested a machine that will allow me to, for at least awhile as long as I have the gas, carbonate some water. I'm intending on making some cola for the Mentalist. He hasn't pestered me, but I know he wants it."
no subject
"All I can do is request it and if it doesn't work out then I'm back to where I am now. But if I don't at least try then I can't progress."

"Why don't you just request cola instead of going through the effort of making it?"
no subject
"Hmm, well I like making it, he likes the recipe, and my world doesn't have cola otherwise. If I ordered it from some other world it might not be to his tastes." That was a good excuse, Senku figured.
no subject
"So you are that concerned with what he likes that you would put so much effort into something?" Xue Yang gives a little huff of amusement.
no subject
"Well. Yes. If it's for him, it should be what he likes."
no subject
"Would he go to so much effort for you?"
