it's halloween, lo-ween, everybody!

Who: Everyone's Invited!
Where: Various decorated carriages!
When: Horseshoe 31.
What: Della is hosting a Halloween party! Come for treats, tricks, and trouble!
Warnings: N/A, will update it needed.

The room is dark…why aren’t the lights on? But as the doors fully open, a voice begins laughing darkly…

… although if you’ve ever heard the voice of Della Duck, you’ll recognize her immediately.

“Boys and girls of every age, wouldn’t you like to see something strange?”

Suddenly there’s a big THUD as someone drops from the ceiling, the lights flash on, and Della herself, dressed as a zombie – ripped apart clothes, fake blood here and there, drawn on scars - wiggles her fingers before laughing joyfully. “Happy Halloween, everybody! Let’s party!”

Tasty Treats

A big buffet table of candy and punch has been laid out! Mini chocolate bars and multi-colored lollipops, gummy worms and candy corn, all sorts of sweet and sour shenanigans, ghost-shaped cookies and mummy-looking muffins! There’s plenty to eat, with absolutely no healthy alternatives.

There are also small wrapped bags of candy with the letters “T.o.T” written on them. If someone tells you, “Trick or Treat!” you have to share your candy! Or keep it to yourself, you monster.

Haunted House

Thanks to Seto Kaiba’s projections, a neighboring carriage has been converted into a Haunted House! While it’s all a trick on the eyes, it gives the illusion that there are several floors of spookiness. Each floor has a different theme –

#1 Serial Seriousness – Every so often, a masked intruder pops out at you, with long claws or chainsaw, ready to give chase! Be careful, or you’ll be the next victim!

#2 Zombie Zaniness – Moans and groans of the undead can’t be unheard. Rotting arms will try to swipe at you through the floorboards!

#3 Ghostly Games – You can see through them, and they can see you too! Each mirror reflects a different dastardly demon!

#4 Deadly Doctors – In this hospital, it’s not the awful health insurance that’ll kill you! Beware the bloody nurses and their extra big needles!\

#5 Fishy Fears - … Wait, what? … Okay, this last floor was clearly designed by Della. It’s like Under the Sea, but with sharks and octopi and kraken - and Della insists this is the worst floor.

Feel free to have your characters braving the house, or trying to scare people within!

Dance Floor

If being haunted isn’t your thing, nothing wrong with getting your groove on! Ask DJ Della what kind of song you’d like to play, and she’s happy to put on the list, from a classic Monster Mash to something more somber and soulful for you slow-dancing-romantic-vampire-types.

Turnip Carving
… Look, they didn’t have pumpkins. Anyway, you’re encouraged to carve scary and silly faces in these veggies! There is a contest, but everyone will be a winner, from “Most Realistic” to “Most Depressing” !

Movie Mania
Kick back and relax – and be horrified – at the otherworldly horror films! Like the horrific monster mime, “That”, the relentless umpire-mask wearing killer, “Monday the 20th”, and the endless array of the undead, “Midmorning Of The Not Wholly Alive”!

Some of you awful people might be thinking of popping up and scaring the theater-goers and this is /winkwinknudgenudge/ totally not approved. /plausible deniability/

Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark
In one secluded, quiet, and verrry dark carriage, lit only by candles, here you are encouraged to tell the scariest stories you can think of! What eerie legends will you share from your world, or do you dare to make it up as you go along?

Make your own top-level, and happy haunting!

Also, if your character would like to dress up, costumes are available for this night only!

That impression got a laugh out of Senku and he shook his head. "I'm not laughing at you." He said quickly. "I understand your impression of flight if all you've seen are movies. They sure do like blowing up airplanes don't they?"

"It's rather strange that they do that, but it's only for dramatic purposes. Flying is actually very safe. It's hard to be in a collision in the air with radar. Radar is equipment they use to see the world around them." He could explain it further if necessary.

"It's much more dangerous to be in a car, really." He insited with a fond little smile.

"I've been to Cape Canaveral, in Florida. That's a state in America, where the Kennedy Space Centre is. And I visited the Johnson Space Centre in Texas." Senku said with a grin. "Now, space flight, that's the real dangerous way to travel."
knifewithnoname: (yes okay)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2020-11-12 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
She in insulted for a whole two seconds before Senku explains he isn't laughing at her, she wrinkled her nose. So the movies exaggerated the danger? Did they not want people to fly in those air planes.

She's not heard the word radar before but she understood, technology that made the airplanes see, because they didn't have eyes. She also knows what a car is, she's even seen cars, on the ice world. Did they not have radar?

"Space do be being pretty dangerous." She agreed, "Lots of things do be trying to be killing you there." She's been in space a couple of times and each time had been a new level of stupid.

[personal profile] 10billionpercent 2020-11-12 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"That's true, but the way people on my planet get into space, is essentially to strap something really explosive beneath them and kind of hope for the best." Senku smiled. "It got better, but there was a lot of trial and error getting to that point. The humans in my world have been to the moon, but most missions were just done at a space station in orbit."

He sighed a bit wistfully. "I definitely want to go to space."
knifewithnoname: (yes okay)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2020-11-15 08:36 am (UTC)(link)
They shot themselves up into space using explosives? That was the coolest thing she had ever heard. Senku's world sounded very interesting, monsters that lived on islands and people shooting themselves to the moon.

"I do be thinking you will be being, if you do be being on this train for a while. But you might no get to be shooting yourself there with explosives."

[personal profile] 10billionpercent 2020-11-15 05:37 pm (UTC)(link)
He would say, avidly, that his world was incredibly interesting. It was why he wanted to fight so hard to protect it and humanity so they didn't get wiped out.

"That's half the fun though." He grinned. "When I was your age, I was trying to make my own rocket to get up into space." Senku explained. "You have to be really good with technology and mechanics, as well as chemistry to pull that kind of thing off." He paused.

"Oh and be outside, with safety equipment. My dad was really insistent about not experimenting with things that could blow up in the house."
knifewithnoname: (heartbreak)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2020-11-15 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
"I do be thinking your dad do be being smart."

She told him with a grin, "Blowing up the house would be being stupid and chemistry do be blowing up really easy."

That's not even from movies, just from knowing Peter. He was always blowing things up by accident.
10billionpercent: (Slight Smile)

[personal profile] 10billionpercent 2020-11-16 01:35 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, I suppose he was smart in his own way." Senku hummed. "In my defense I only blew up something once in the house."

That was somehow a reasonable argument. Somewhere. Also, blowing things up wasn't the same as a fire which might've happened more than once.

It was kind of lucky they never had to move, that security deposit was never coming back to them.
knifewithnoname: (listening to you)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2020-11-16 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
He had only blown something up once? She raised her eyebrows, he was either very lucky or bad at blowing things up if he was still alive.

"Did you be getting into a lot of trouble?"
10billionpercent: (Slight Smile)

[personal profile] 10billionpercent 2020-11-17 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
He only blew up something in the house once. He's blown up many things. He was a terrible role model that way. He just learned how to avoid blowing himself up.

"Yeah, kind of. After the inevitable squishing and being hugged and making sure I'm okay, then I got grounded for a month." Senku hummed a bit. "And no more explosive experiments indoors. To be fair, I'd also accidentally set the wall on fire by then, so I think dad just wanted me not to burn down the apartment."
knifewithnoname: (yeah I'm not buying that)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2020-11-17 07:45 pm (UTC)(link)
She wrinkled her nose, "Did it even be working? Being grounded? Because Peter do be getting grounded all the time." Or had been, when Tony was on the train, "And it do no be teaching him any lessons."

Whoever came up with it did not know how punishments worked, honestly.
10billionpercent: (Huh?)

[personal profile] 10billionpercent 2020-11-17 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
"I guess so, I mean I stopped doing explosive experiments in the house which is really what my dad wanted, but people thought he was pretty lax with me anyway." Senku admitted.

"Most kids did stuff like pay attention in class or whatever, I didn't do any of that."
knifewithnoname: (yes okay)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2020-11-21 05:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"He do be sounding lax." She agreed, "Did you no be being punished for no paying attention?"

If she hadn't paid attention in her lessons she would have been in big trouble. If not at the time then definitely the next time Priestess Elina decided to test her.

Failure wasn't an option and that was true in everything she ever learned.
10billionpercent: (Sentimental)

[personal profile] 10billionpercent 2020-11-22 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
"Not by my dad. My teachers weren't very thrilled. I think they settled on some kind of agreement that if I wasn't disruptive, they'd leave me alone." Senku answered.

"The thing was really that I was years ahead of my classmates, so they weren't actually teaching me anything of value." Senku snorted. "I hated school you know. It's way too narrow in scope, and I had to learn things I wasn't interested in."

He definitely wasn't failing his classes, he just didn't like the restrictions.
knifewithnoname: (that sounds unpleasent)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2020-11-22 12:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"It do no be being your fault your classmates did be being stupid, they should have been teaching you better things."

She wrinkled her nose, "Did your dad be making you be going to school?"

If he hated it so much? She never had hated lessons, even if sometimes they had been tedious.
10billionpercent: (Huh?)

[personal profile] 10billionpercent 2020-11-22 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's not that they're stupid, but I'm a lot smarter than they are, so when they were learning basic math I was already trying to dive into physics. I'm someone who takes the initiative to learn on my own." He was an autodidact to an extreme.

"Yeah, he made me go. So my goal was always to go to space and to do that, you have to be an expert in at least one field, although depending on the agency they need two. You're an expert, apparently, when they give you a paper that says so." Senku snorted. "So to do that, I had to go to university, and to do that I had to graduate high school, no matter how much I didn't want to go."

"The requirements for space agencies are pretty tough. You have to be able to speak at least two languages, and neither of them are the one in the country where I live, so I learned two other languages too." English was turning out to be incredibly useful though, the jury was still out on Russian.
knifewithnoname: (listening)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2020-11-23 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
She understands that, being smarter than other people. She used to run with street thieves and that was a good learning experience but pretending she wasn't as smart as she was, so that they wouldn't get mad had been infuriating.

"Why do you be needing to be learning other languages? Do there be being people who do be living in space you need to be talking to? Do they no be having translators like whatever do be making us understand each other here?"

Language has fascinated her since the day all the translators on the train failed. But it is far from her only question.

"Also what do university be being?" She knows high school, that's where Peter went. Though how a school could be 'high' she still wasn't sure.
10billionpercent: (Satisfied)

[personal profile] 10billionpercent 2020-11-23 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Senku didn't look the least bit bothered by streams of questions, he had an appetite for knowledge and in more recent years, teaching people. He would encourage anyone to ask questions and look for answers.

"Well, to start with, no my world doesn't have any method like that to understand someone else like the train does. There used to be things on the internet, which was like a way people used to communicate across the world on a computer, that could translate text for you. It wasn't very helpful if you were actually meeting someone." Senku began there, because the other part was a bit more complicated.

"There were people living in space. There was this structure that was in orbit that had a maxiumum capacity of six people. Those people were mostly astronauts, and they typically lived there for three months or six months at a time. It was called the International Space Station, partly because it was a joint project between several countries that had space programs, and mostly it was used for conducting science experiments in space." Senku explained.

"So when you have people from different countries, that all speak different languages, you kind of have to decide on a common one. The language they all use between them is called English. I'm from Japan so what I speak most of the time is Japanese." Senku continued. "But, at one point, the Americans stopped traveling to space on their own and they were using the Soyuz, which is a Russian space capsule, so everything to do with that is in Russian, meaning that if you want to travel to the space station, you have to speak Russian."

The only potential down side, was when Senku was asked a question he was a bit thorough in his responses, which tended to be a bit much for some people.

"University is more school that you can do after high school. It varies in different countries how much school kids have to do, but in Japan we have primary school and middle school which are required. You go to high school if you intend on going to university and after that university." Senku explained. "University lets you get a better job, like any in the scientific fields, things like doctors, lawyers, architects...it's optional though. You can work other jobs without it, but you can't work those jobs."

He offered a wry smile. "Unless your world is like mine where those things don't exist anymore and I get to be a doctor anyway by default."
knifewithnoname: (serious)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2020-11-28 11:46 am (UTC)(link)
His answers were thorough and that was good, they weren't half answers that left her with even more confusion. They had different languages, they could translate things on the internet. She knows what the internet is because Peter had explained all about that.

People lived in space, like Ple Two's world and people did science experiements in space, which sounded a little irresponsible to her but Senku was saying it like it was normal, perhaps it was. And they spoke different languages to each other.

There are other people on the train from Japan, and from America and people who spoke English. She hasn't heard Russia but that's another country from his world.

The schools sounded stupid, why were there so many? Though it makes sense that a doctor wouldn't go to the same school as a baker. They needed to know different things.

But then his last words confused her all over again.

"How do they no be existing?" He had just said they had. Had his world broke?
10billionpercent: (I Sense A Plot)

[personal profile] 10billionpercent 2020-11-28 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
His world had indeed broken, in one way or another. "It's a bit complicated, but I'll explain it as best I can." He meant he'd try to keep out of the really technical details he tended to get lost in.

"When I was sixteen, one day there was a flash of light that turned all of the humans to stone, leaving no humans left on the planet who were alive and walking around." Senku explained, and maybe this was a scary story too.

"The world stayed like that, while nature changed and took over and everything that people made, for the most part, crumbled and disappeared for over 3700 years. After all that time when I broke free, 3719 years later, less two months, there was nothing left but the overgrown wilderness. It was just me alone for six months or so, but my friend woke up at that point and with his help I managed to figure out how to wake people up on purpose." Senku explained.

"So going forward, eventually as we rebuild society, there will be more people again. I do have over seven bilion to save, after all." Senku said with a bit of a smile.

"But because of that, there's nothing left. Even if I wanted to go to school and learn more, there's no one to learn from. Now everyone learns from me, actually. Kinda weird, it would really amuse my dad that I wound up doing a lot of teaching." He quirked a smile. "We do have a bit of a school in the village now where the kids and some of the adults learn to read and write, which they didn't know before, albeit a simplified version of Japanese." He was pretty sure Gen and Ukyo didn't bother with the kanji. It wasn't practical.
knifewithnoname: (yes okay)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2020-11-29 11:04 am (UTC)(link)
She tilted her head as he said he would explain and made sure to listen very careful. It sounded crazy the moment he started, a flash of light turning everyone to stone and he had been stone for 3719 years into a world of wilderness and they learned how to wake people up.

"You do be teaching the whole world? How do you be waking people up? Do you be knowing why everyone did be turning to stone?"

He doesn't seem to mind questions so she lets them bounce off her tongue.
10billionpercent: (Sentimental)

[personal profile] 10billionpercent 2020-11-29 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)
"Ah, if you can call the hundred and fifty people in the village the whole world, sure." Senku chuckled lightly. "It is pretty much the population of Japan for sure, potentially the world, hard to say."

He couldn't guarantee that, and he already suspected there were people in America, somewhere, but Gen wouldn't tell him anything.

"I was awake the whole time." Senku explained. "And the energy my brain generated mixed with nitric acid and that was how I came around. Taiju, was also awake the whole time, but he doesn't think very much." Senku snorted lightly. "But he was aware, he generated some energy, and that's how he came around with the help of nitric acid."

"Everyone else is kind of in a stasis sleep. They're not aware how long it's been, they don't feel or know anything." Senku continued patiently. "So I had to account for that in my formula. It's a mixture of alcohol and nitric acid. It's called nital. It's just a stronger concentration than most people would use, but that's what's needed."

He shook his head at her last question. "No. We don't know why, actually. We have a feeling we're understanding how it happened, and we suspect we have an enemy on the moon, but we're not sure why it happened in the first place, or why they're still trying."
knifewithnoname: (quiet fear)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2020-12-04 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
"You did be being awake for 3719 years? And you did be being stone like a statue?"

She looks horrified. He says it so casually like that is normal, as if being still and unable to move yet being still awake and aware wasn't an altogether terrifying thing.

Priestess Elina had once made it so she couldn't move at all, to show her how it felt. How it would feel if certain poisons were used. It had only been a few minutes before she released the spell but it had been more frightening than she had wanted to admit. She can't even imagine that for thousands of years.

It's horrifying enough that she almost misses the rest of what he says, alcohol and acid woke them up, they probably had an enemy on the moon. Her mind stores the information but doesn't really process it, she's still stuck on the first.
10billionpercent: (Curiosity Piqued)

[personal profile] 10billionpercent 2020-12-04 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
Even Senku can tell she's found that disturbing. She wasn't wrong, there was an element of horror involved. He had no real desire to be re-petrified, it was something he'd be bothered by.

As scary as that was, that wasn't his biggest fear. His biggest fear was finding himself alone on a planet with not another soul again. That had been far worse than being a mind trapped in nothingness.

"Yeah, I was." Senku wasn't really sure how to comfort children, but Suika liked a pat on the head, he could at least do that, reach out to offer a gentle pat.

"You can tell I broke out from the statue because of these scars on my forehead here." Senku indicated them, coming down through his eyes. "That's where the petrification cracked first." Strangely enough, most people didn't ask about those which he would've thought they would. Gen had a similar 'scar' although his was painted on, at that point.
knifewithnoname: (listening to you)

[personal profile] knifewithnoname 2020-12-05 10:33 am (UTC)(link)
She didn't move as he patted her head, though she was alert, he didn't seem threatening but letting down her guard was not something she was prepared to do. She was still processing his words, it reminded her a bit of the book she had been reading. That had been a horror story and it was a bit disturbing to hear something so similar had happened.

She peered at his forehead and nodded, she was used to people with scars, sailors and the types who drank at the Poison Apple often had scars, but she had never seen one from being stuck in stone before.

"Does everyone who you did be waking up be having a scar like that then?"

"That's right." He leaned down a bit so she could get a good look if she liked. "They all have them on different parts of their bodies. The scars can be repaired if you get petrified again. We know because some of them got petrified again temporarily."

He hummed. "But the device is out of juice, and dealing with my scars is the least important part of anything really."
